The Simpsons is an arcade beat 'em up developed and published by Konami released in 1991. It was the first video game based on the Simpsons franchise to be released in North America. The game allows up to four players to control members of the Simpson family as they fight various enemies to rescue the kidnapped Maggie. It was a commercial success in the United States, where it was one of the top three best-selling arcade video game machines of 1991.
The Japanese version of the game includes many differences from the North American release. These changes include throwable small scale nuclear bombs that clear all on-screen enemies.
A life bar that, unlike in the North American version, can accumulate three levels by eating food beyond the first full level. The player's life is turned into bonus points after they complete a level and is restored when the next level begins.
In this version there are hidden items (food and weapons) which appear when the player hits specific points of the screen. Also, in the Japanese version the score system is different: each enemy character defeated gives the player a certain number of points, while at the North American version the player only earns a single point by defeating them. This is similar to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game score system. - Ігри

sooner or later I hope the simpson arcade game gets the same treatment as Streets of Rage 4 and TMNT Shedders Revenger
Tribute games seems to be a developer who actually cares about the franchises. They went back and played the original games, watched episodes for characters and environmental details.

As a kid, i played the game first without ever watching the show. I thought this was exactly what happens on the show.
Was fortunate enough to play this game in the early 2010s at a place that still had older arcade games.

Konami today is trash, they only seals ROMS on collections, Dotemu or other companies who did SOR4 and TMNT need to revive games like this.

OK this is totally Remastered due to the food while fighting Smithers and a bunch of random chracters apering at the end
In the original game if you fight with all 4 characters on the last level afterwards Patty, Selma & Grandpa show up

Yet another beat em up gem i, to this day get online in hopes to play co op on my PS3 with people and nobody plays it anymore, but, many would watch these videos and be like , I WANNA PLAY THIS NOW!, hypocrite much?.
I have it on my PS3 but it's not plugged in. Instead I have it on Arcade 1up.
They actually sell BIY arcade cabinets of this game. Plus a lot of niche bars cater to the older Millennial demographic with arcade bars! Look up 16-bit bar!

Bowling Ball is tough as hell.
Yeah, but at one point when it is morphing you can quickly pound the stuffing out of it. If you are quick you can actually skip one of its battle sessions all together.
