These dudes here are absolute geniuses. I can’t stress enough their grind is unlike anything I’ve ever seen with the exception of the Wu and I feel the reason for their success besides their incredible work ethic, is that these dudes took lessons from the greats and applied them. Example Westside using all the wrestling samples reminds me of Doom, their marketing reminds me of Wu, the dedication to Their Rhymes you can point to many greats, but my point is in order to succeed you gotta respect those who came before and learn from them and Griselda did that in spades.
100% agree and that's why I don't like my generation really not showing love to the pioneers. I was born in '01 which I've said numerous amounts on this channel and the dudes coming up now don't even be looking at the older dudes from the 90's and 80's. Some of them have probably never heard a Rakim verse in their life!
@@cloutcancun you are right but that’s not all on your generation because my generation don’t reach out to the younger generation either but that again is where griselda excels because they reach out to the older generation. I didn’t learn about Griselda until Westside worked with Doom. My first thought about that was, ok who is this guy and wow how smart of him to work with Doom? Then as other colabs came out I paid attention to who he worked with and like I said pure genius because I’m pretty sure Griselda were working with guys who not only were dope but who they respected and modeled their game from. That’s respect because tbh they could have just took the knowledge and not had these people on their records.

I mean Young Thug is arguably not entirely my generation but what he said about Andre 3000 was disrespectful. Then you have ppl in my generation disrespecting 2pac. I think showing love to legends not only will give you respect from them but it could put longevity on your career in my opinion due to the connections
i am from germany and listen to Griselda since 3 years now...but i grow up with the wu and the mobb so it was kind of rebirth for me listen to Griselda the first time. since them I try to get everything beside their music to know them better and where they come from. this was a great sum up for me to get it all in one take...thank you very much!

Benny was the underrated one...he just proved himself and rose to be the top dog of Griselda. That being said, Westside Gunn makes the best and most entertaining albums of the 3 of them, despite Benny & Conway being better lyricists.

Griselda, is The Hardest out right now for about 5yrs Strong!!!! I Really like their sound and style, Genuine NYC influenced....That REAL!!! "Machine" is The Grimiest and very passionate! "Butcher" is more intricate and laid back. His Lyrical ability is Up there!!! West Side is the melodic Hook Guy! I'd have to slightly give the edge to Benny as being my Favorite, with Conway A second close! Keep doing it Dudes!! IF Conway expands his material content, he's going to be Untouchable

Nice of you to make a documentary on griselda records to give them more exposure. I think it wouldve been important to mention the Dump Gawds (Mach-Hommy and Tha God Fahim) and Camoflague Monk. I know you were trying to focus on the three consistent members of the group as the Dump Gawds were affiliated with Griselda for a short time. But if you mentioned this chapter, then you couldve mentioned how Mach-hommy and westside gunn have reunited and are now making new music. Other than that, thanks for the good write up, preciate it. Once the 90s ended and rap changed and became a real commodity, it became difficult to find rappers that had that hunger and gritty sound that I yearned to hear again. I’m a crack era kid and grew up in 80s 90s streets of NY and remember when Nas Mobb Deep came out and captured the feel of the streets back then. If it wasn’t for Griselda I’d have no new music to listen to, cuz I can’t mess wit that tight jeans auto-tune bullshit, I need lyrics and hard beats. Thank you.
