Probably won't see this but I'm new to magic and tried the Mind Flayaaars precon (I'm a d&d nerd), and loved it! I watched your upgrade guide with a few others and sheesh. I can mill out people's decks in a short amount of time now. Thank you! I'm upgrading the Ruinous Powers next with your guide!
Really appreciate this upgrade guide, I like it a lot more than the other guides I've seen for this deck! I feel like you nailed the upgrades and kept the deck in a great price range.
Thank you for this video. It helped me a lot when I was a new player and I still like to play the deck the way you suggested. In addition nearly all the cards are really good for new decks I try :)
Thank you Grazzit! i’ve been waiting for this, i’ve been playing the deck since release and i love it, ive also been racking my head on what can be pulled and what can be added, but now i know, thanks again!
I do like the upgrades for this deck, but I'd be tempted to completely rebuild this commander. I've been experimenting with various w/r decks that cheats Hostility into play and uses AOE damage to make Elemental tokens and Neyali might be the right commander for the job!
I just want to say thank you for this -- I just started playing magic the gathering and this is my commander deck, super interested in these upgrades :)
Good suggestion! It is a lot cheaper than it used to be for sure and can do a whole lot for us by turning our 1/1's and 2/2's into big evasive threats!
As a new EDH player I really appreciate this upgrade guide. What do you think about "Release to Memory" ? Could it be a good swap for "Soul-Guide Lantern"? It provides a graveyard hate and tokens at same time
Hey Grazzet, nice video, but either iam blind or there is a mistake, cuz i fail to come the same numbers as you on your list. would you mind breaking down genereal stats with there card names?
Nice upgrade guide and nothing I would really change, but I still have suggestions because I like giving suggestions that could be sidegrade. You did an excellent job I'm really surprised to not see Elturel Survivors in the upgraded card. Sure it dont get the draw trigger, but let say a 4/4 Double Striking Trampling at the very "worst" seems such a big hit against the opponents, even more considering you talked about Battle Angel as a further upgrade I'm personally a fan of Gut, True Soul Zealot because transforming let say a 1 1 token into a 4/1 Double Striking Menace token one seems OK to me. It is probably a sidegrade though Skyhunter Strike Force as a second melee enabler seems also great to boost power of all attacking creatures. I'm personally a fan of Delina, Wild Mage and Jaxis, because you could create big tokens even though with Delina you wouldnt get the exile draw. Divine Visitation as a way to boost all token productions into big angels seems great too I always had a soft spot for Rites of Raging Storm personally and in this deck, it seems like It would make the game move a LOT faster Another card that makes the game moving is Combat Calligrapher. In that case you get "hard to block" tokens that will do 4 damage Inspiring Leader could be a fun way to boost the power of the tokens, but it is probably not consistent enough :O For Adeline like effect, maybe Veteran Soldier ? Again not consistent enough probably ? Maybe Breath of Fury for possible Extra Combat Shenanigans with your harder to block tokens ? Probably too cute.. If Not I'm personally a fan of Karlach, Fury of Avernus or Moraug just to get more of those exile draw trigger Again , they are mostly cards I like :D
@@Koios90 This commander is really more open ended than people think. There are so many tokens producing things in those colors. You can just play what you like :D
@@munsulight721 Oh, absolutely! One of my strongest decks is a Winota that makes tons of non-human tokens and easily snowballs with stuff like Marton Stromgald
Good suggestions! I played Gut, True Soul Zealot in the 99 in testing (for the same reasons you mentioned) and he was fine, but I ended up cutting him for Rakka Mar sicne she doesn't require us to lose baordstate to use her (but I could still see him being used since 4/1's are really nice in this build). Personally, I find Elturel Survivors deeply medium - their great for exactly one time since the original is likely going to be blocked and removed, never to be used again. Now, if we can engineer a way for the original to attack safely turn after turn then I would consider it, but as is it was a pass for me (though again, that's just my personal preference). Otherwise, all other other suggestions are pretty solid - thanks for taking the time to put this together!
At this time I'm only tackling the new sets (mainly due to not having the time to do anything else) so sadly I will not be able to do this. Still, if I do open suggestions up to commanders outside the current set(s), I'll be sure to let you folks know.
So im currently messing around with a Neyali/Faldorn Deck that uses Jetmir as the Commander for more value from the tokens and honestly so far it seems pretty fun. Its kinda janky since neither Faldorn nor Neyali are your actual commanders so you need to be a bit lucky with drawing them but theres a reason im running like 14 Draw Sources but if you get either of them early enough you can find the other one relatively easily. Its fun though
Sounds interesting. You may want to invest in some creature tutors to fetch up Neyali and/or Faldorn to improve consistency if you're not drawing into them often enough (Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer, Fauna Shaman, Magus of the Order, Time of Need, Uncage the Menagerie, and Yisan, the Wanderer Bard are all good budget options).
@@GrazzetMTG So I kinda went over the Deck and changed it to run Sisay, Weatherlight Captain as the Commander to have searching in the Command Zone and to give you more access to the Token Generators and Anthems of other Colors, and im not gonna lie, its kinda good. It allows you to run things like Isshin and Aryel, as well as Ashiok Weaver and Ashiok Muse for the Exile payoff from Faldorn. Running your suggestions as well made the Deck scarily consistent since with all the Anthems you can get Sisay quite high to cheat out your legends, of which the Deck runs 30 in its current Variant. Haven't gotten to test how it runs in actual games and if it struggles with finishing, but from the Test Hands ive tried it seems pretty solid so far. Also Najeela doing Najeela stuff because you can play her in this Variant.
@@JustPixelNoIDontWantAnyNumbers Fair enough - having the creature tutor in the command zone does fix the consistency issues and, since you'll be running a fair amount of legends anyway, Sisay seems like a good fit.
I wished Red had some toxic / mites so i could use this commander with Mites. i hope the Mites get some expansion in the future to use this commander with them.
Fair - Mites are a fun little tribe that have a few commanders that can build around them (Vishgraz & Ria Ivor for example), so getting some more support for them in the future would be nice.
Effectively yes - for both commanders - once the cards have been exiled, if the conditions are still met, they can still be cast from exile even if the commander is not in play.
Most of the music I use is from Dark Fantasy Studio. Humble bundle did a royalty free bundle for them with premium licenses for a bunch of their tracks, which is what I've been using.
He would certainly make for a powerful build round but sadly I'm not tackling commanders outside of the current set at the moment (since I do not have the time). Maybe some point down the line.
For Mirrodin! At least while it lasts! Anyways, amazing deck as always! Perfect for my rest after a rough long day... As for my vote, it goes to Graaz, cause Juggernaut Tribal is fucking sick. Hopefully you reference that one scene in X-Men: The Last Stand with the video! Day 557 of waiting for the face reveal. Which side do you prefer - Phyrexia or Mirrodin?
Glad you enjoyed it as usual! Graaz is certainly popular in the polls, so its likely we're going to see that build soon (maybe with a few old Juggernaut memes if I can get away with it without being demonetized). As far as what side I perfer - I'm going to have to side with Mirrodin. While the aspect of "perfecting" ones body that the Phyrexian's offer is enticing - Elish Norn is much too much of a Totalitarian to really make it worth it. Maybe once she's dethroned I'll consider switchign sides, but for now I'm siding with the Mirrian rebels to take back their plane.
Short hand for Area of Effect - which I sometimes use to describe effects that affect our entire board. Would be akin to Lords or Anthems but since those primarily deal with stat boosts and not keyword distribution that may not be entirely correct.
Good suggestion! I would certainly run it if the build had a more multiple attack theme going on or a critical mass of evasive tokens (since the creature has to connect for it to proc) - though I can still see it as being a good alpha strike enabler even without them.
