Roy, when I had my "theophany" at age 22 (I am nearing my 70th BD this year), I had been given, by the graciousness of the Lord, the gifts of wisdom, understanding and knowledge. I was born into a Catholic family& I had practice my faith, or so I thought I had, but my family - and 99% of most Catholics - did not understand and had their pet names for me. The most comfortable I was was with the charismatic Catholics and with my nondenominational friends ... until they understood that I was not departing from my Catholic heritage, lol. Even today, many of my friends who are staunch traditional Latin mass Catholics, act very much like the Pharisees of the New Testament in judging their fellow Catholics, priests, and bishops in everything unless they are practicing everything latin ( I exaggerate this part, but it is pretty severe) Anyway, it is quite a strange time in the life cycle of our Holy Catholic Church and I am so glad you are a part of it and that you take the time to teach us.
You're in a good location if there's a Tridentine Mass near you. I'm not a "traddie," but I see a lot of disdain on both sides. It's disheartening. It's a sign of the world turning more and more to Satan. I took time to understand the Tridentine Mass, and the Charismatic approach, and the Normie NO Mass. I decided that it's not about my preference, but about worship of the God who is outside of myself. And if there is any irreverence or outright offense against the Sacred Heart of Jesus anywhere, at Mass or outside of it, I'm obligated to offer prayer and sacrifice to make reparation. Not because I'm better than anyone else, but because I'm in dire need of mercy.

I just love to be presented with such powerful tools as this to introduce to non-Catholics the topic of the Illumination of conscience. Actually this was the cherry on the sundae, as this whole reflection was tremendously thought provoking and exiciting. Will be returning to reread on my own this parabale of Jesus. By the way i'm one of those crazy Catholic converts who was 'walloped' by the Holy Spirit and just cannot figure the coolness of Catholics and the idea that anything on this earth, other than co-operation with Grace in the saving of souls, can have any real importance.
Lately, I've also become extremely aware of Jesus' words regarding the end times, things I overlooked before

it also stood out to me that in the parable of the treasure in the field, you notice that the parable says the man sells everything he has to buy the field. even in the parable the commandment against stealing was not violated
