In Australia the D22 got the yd 25 in 2009 along with a larger tub. The last ones were sold in 2015. Mine was one of the very last. D22 was originally made in Japan then manufacturing shifted to Thailand and was built alongside some some versions of the D40. Rx and ST models.
They were sold here new in New Zealand with that engine. Working in the forests here they are more hassle than they are worth. Hilux & Ranger handle the conditions way better. Still have timing chain, front drive, transfer chain & chassis cracking issues.

only in the UK (europe?) they changed the name from D22 to NP300 when they changed the motor to common rail, simply to get away from the bad press from the law suit over the early yd25 bearings failure. down under we went from a 110kw engine (3lt zd30) to that engine which is only 100kw, so it turned an ok ute into a slug. so "got some power" comment is very LOL. i under stand later ones got a lower diff ratio to help with the lack of performance. both D22 and D40 has been replaced by the NP300 (the real NP300 not the D22 "version").
tweak e They still sell the D22 new in Ghana. They have called it the.NP 300 as far as I can recall. They also call it the Hardbody. You could get them in non turbo diesel and turbo diesel at one point I was told but only 2.5 diesel now, not sure which engine it is though. We are getting either a Hardbody or an L200 next year.

Hey mate. I recently acquired of d40 yd25ddti, initially is was going into limp mode, so then i changed the scv and it wouldnt, it would get full power but hunt on idle(eratic idle). Think it still be fuel issues i replaced the fuel pressure relief valve, still same problem. Some mates suggested changing the fuel filter, had the fuel filter replaced, also had the timing chain and tensioners replaced, timing all good.. and it started and idled for a min and just died of, now it does not start at all. When i plug the diagnostics on, i get a fault for fuel pump circuit, open circuit or short to ground. I have ran an external wire from the ecu to the fuel pump. Erased the fault, tried to start, still wont kick over. Just swings, if i used a bit of quick start, it starts and dies off. Im at a point of giving up and sending it to a wrecker. Any ideas what could cause this?

WYES, did you know that all the heads crack in the 3.0 litre ZD30 engines, i don't know about the common rail engine, its between the glow plug hole and the nearest valve, this has no effect on the engine because the valve seat will never come out and the aluminium is thick in this area, seems to be a tension release, all the heads i had and have seen are all like that.
Drive one of those at work. Calles np300 in sweden -09. Its a d40 engine but only 130hp anyway in the papers.. really a tired car i Think. Not compare with d40 174hp
We had d22 with the 3 litre engine. Great truck. Ours did more than 400,000 km before it was sold. Nissan then released the d40 along side the d22 with the 2.5litre. Only the np300 is sold now

My D22 rally raid threw 2 legs out of bed, £2100 later recon engine new clutch and flywheel, I love that beast

2012 d40 290k kms only minor normal issues so far. Good maintenance and they can last.
