- Dyno tested before and after power numbers, and the gains are not small! I installed a Holley Terminator X on my 1984 Dodge Diplomat with an eBay GT45 turbo and a 5.9 mopar magnum swapped in. After just a little bit of self tuning and playing with the new engine management system, the Holley added a lot of power compared to the stock '90s Dodge fuel injection. Excited with the results and I cant wait to tune more and take this car to the track after the Ohio winter thaws!

@@MRE_Motorsports thanks!
That is so cool! Great gains from the Holley vs. stock. Well done!! Can't wait for the 1/4 mile numbers - i bet you can't either!
Thanks a lot! Yeah I can’t wait for Ohio to thaw, spring can’t get here soon enough!
First time watcher. Really surprised at the lack of subscribers and views with the production quality, video quality, etc. keep at it and this channel will definitely make you some money. As for now, you got another subscriber!
I appreciate the kind words and support, thank you! I just started a few months ago, hopefully I can eventually get the word out 👍
Awesome!!!! My mom had a 83' or 84' Diplomat. It had no rear floorboards lol. We had to pick our feet up when she ran through a puddle lol. This was back in 87" or 88". Excop car. It was fast for the time. It didn't have all the emissions crap crammed under the hood.
Thanks! Seems like a lot of people have a story about a Diplomat or similar car back in the day, we had a rusty 72 Plymouth wagon that we were told not to step on the back floor because the carpet was all that was there!
@restoreitralph Same here ROFLMFAO!!!! The carpet was an illusion
Sounds great! Cool car.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Man do I want a set up just like this!
I’d highly recommend it! 👍
Video was sick, diplomat sounds rowdier than ever
Thanks! I’m pumped for sure!
Something like the Voodoo Lunati cam should be looked at, high lift, low duration and wide LSA. Lots of other turbos see the same issue and has to do with the pressure differential between drive pressure and pressure on the intake valve. With a stock little cam you can push a lot more boost and still make power, with a big cam (big duration) the drive pressure over powers intake boost pressure. A long duration 108 LSA cam with more exhaust duration for scavenging made for a NA engine will nuke power as the boost comes up.
I’ll definitely be researching the cam a lot for sure, I’ve never had a turbo car before. Thanks for the insight!
Ralph just blow it up already go get gen3 6.4, 6.1 Lets go!
Or maybe add a turbo to my 5.7 Hemi swapped ‘69 Dart? 😂👍
Can’t wait to see your cam choice. That seems to snowball with the magnum motors with the valve clearance issue.
I’ve got a spare set of heads that I might have the valve guide bosses clearanced for more cam options. I’ve got a lot of research to do on cams!
Your tuning seems to be coming along great. I hope the Holley doesn't have any surprises for you in the future.
@@Spawndukes I’m really impressed with it so far 👍
Now a nice cam like a 218/228@.050 with .525ish lift will really really wake up that engine and you can probably expect to get into the 500s easily. Powell machine or Oregon cam could regrind a stock cam for you. Really cheap compared to a brand new. Thats what i go with.
Thanks for the suggestions, I really haven’t researched cam specs for this combo yet and that gives me something to start with. My friend has a cam core for me and he had Oregon cam grind one and is happy with it as well.
Very nice! Love seeing turbo magnums. I'm sure it's been mentioned in another video, but what size injectors are you running? I have a very similar setup that I'm still putting together in my '69 Valiant; 5.9, Term X, GT45, LS D585 coils, 8HP70.
That sounds like a killer build! I’m using 48lbhr ev6 Ford performance injectors.
It definitely is pulling strong..
It’s really running pretty great!
If you haven't, block off the heat crossover. EFI doesn't need it and it can kill performance in the top end.
Luckily the newer magnum heads don’t have that so I’m good!
@restoreitralph nice! 👍
The car sounds great! Are you running the 97 ram 46RE transmission or a 3 speed ?
Thanks! I’m running a 727 3 speed, I had it in another car of mine and it simplified a lot of the build.
Cool car, but 2 words, dust exhaust. Either that or a very fat single exhaust. That would definitely increase both by a lot. The motor sounds pretty stout, too. So the exhaust and a dyno run before the cam.
Thanks! It’s a 3” single directly off the turbo all the way to the back, it might pick up more power but I don’t have room on the current setup to fit a bigger pipe. I could do a hood exit, I’ve got a spare hood! 😬👍
@restoreitralph dang. Well, she's awesome. I enjoy unique builds!
@@peterx213 I appreciate it! I had thought about painting and cutting the extra hood and making a short hood exit exhaust that I could swap on and off if the car gets serious!
Is there a tuner guy you can see?
I’m sure there is, I know of a few guys around. Part of the fun for me is learning how to do it, so if I hit a wall by myself I can always have someone help finish it.
