In air mode, if you barely dodge an obstacle that slows you down, you'll get rewarded with a risk boost. Pulling it off is easy enough, but the timing is difficult. You just have to flick the right stick away from the obstacle before crashing into it, but not too late because you'll likely crash into it, and not too early because you won't be rewarded with one. It's fun to pull off once you learn the timings though

It's a mechanic that allows you to receive a free boost by stunting in proximity to an obstacle. It's the most important boost mechanic in flight sections.
