I think it’s a common misconception that those carbs are ready to go out of the box and they aren’t. They need to be initially setup. I thought it sounded lean in the first video
Money doesn't mean knowledge, if anything it gives you a false sense. Carb was tuned like shit can hear the bike not loving it at all, sounded bogged down all the time and then getting dragged on by a goon rider on a stock 125 yama. kept pushing the bike instead of correcting the obvious issues lead to failure, either ignorance or too excited for the freshie and ignored the important/hardest part which is tuning... no custom build runs mint with out of the box/stock settings.
I really doubt an untubed carb would ever cause damage to an engine or cause an engine to blow.
@@2010gam3r you’re joking right
@@mikeglaab7061 why would it cause an engine to blow. Explain
@@2010gam3r well on a 2 stroke, your fuel is your lubrication, for your crank and piston, so problem 1. Problem 2 is the cylinder will run hot since it's running out of fuel to burn in it's combustion cycle, so it will burn rings, piston, head, etc.. 3rd is if it's detonating from being lean or bad timing, it will hammer your wrist pin, rod, and pretty much any bearing,
I have an ‘06 Kawi 250 that’s been in my immediate family since we bought it off the showroom floor. Talking to the mechanics at the shop we got it from, they always advised us to NEVER run any leaner than 32:1. Took the advice and have never blown an engine, even with a phathead, reeds, piston, filter, exhaust, and a lectron. Before the carb switch, instead of changing the mix, I’d change the spark plug between a BR8EIX and BR9EIX depending on what kind of riding I’d be doing. I’ve fouled some plugs here and there, but it’s much cheaper than an entire rebuild. The 05-06 250’s from Kawi are monsters and designed for mid-range and up stock. If you can get the lectron dialed and the mix right (32:1), the bottom end will come alive and she’ll be a rocket.
32:1 for the older 2 strokes.
Oh no dude! So sorry that happened. It's been awesome seeing you work on this thing. Hope it didn't kill your spirits too much. At least you have other bikes to scratch the itch for now.
It's those lectron carbs, had many guys put them on there bikes and they blow from being lean
those guys probably didnt know how to set them up. ill agree they get shipped way too lean but ive put 60 hard hours of mx on my tc250 w the lectron. if you learn how to tune them theyre amazing. last time i watched tylers video it sounded like it was running way to lean so im assuming he never tuned his either
@@kylewaters7409 yeah we learned that the hard way, from the website they come ready to ride and no adjusting except for idle so
Exactly those lecterns are shit!!!
Exactly those lectrons are shit!!!
nothing better then a good tuned pwk!
Glad you are alright man! Sucks about the bike but you and the bike are both in one piece at the end of the day thats all that matters! Everyone drop a like for the KX250!
just some advice tyler ive got alot of hours with the lectrons mx only and just based off the sounds the bikes making your carb is way too lean. just for reference a 250 2 stroke shouldnt be bogging like that with you carb tuned right. i have an 18' tc250 and i had the h series lectron and i now have their billetron carb. both carbs were sent to me way too lean. my billetron was about 5-6 whole turns too lean. not 1/4 turns im talking whole turns. the best way to test it i have found is to kinda putt around in 2nd gear and then crack the throttle. if the bike bogs for a second youre too lean and you need to richen it up. my bike doesnt bog when i crack the throttle. hope this helps
Thanks man I’ll look into that thank you!
@@TylerMonagan no problem man. the most simple way to think about it is that the flat side of the metering rod creates an area of low pressure which sucks up fuel into the motor. if your bike bogs when you crack the throttle open it means that there was not enough fuel present in the motor to get it going quickly. so by richening up the carb you have more fuel present at all times so when you go to crack the throttle the engine will have sufficent fuel to take off. if you notice you bike would still hit the powerband normally thats only because after the bike is bogging for a little the power jet activates and then sucks in the right amount of fuel. so your topend power was good however the bottom end power is dictated by the metering rod position. i cant stress enough that you really have to do drastic turns richer at first in order to dial in the bike
@@kylewaters7409 this makes a lot of since ive been having bogging issues on my tc125 with the lectron carb. i had always heard such good things but i was pretty unhappy with the performance, hopefully this helps!
@@jakebriscoe do you have the billetron ? But yes I’d say start your tuning by doing a full turn richer (clockwise). And since your on a 125 you can try putting around low in rpm’s in 1st gear and if you crack the throttle and the throttle response should be instant. When you get to a nice adjustment with the metering rod and it feels good. Then try second. And if it still bogs a little in second then try going a couple turns richer
@@kylewaters7409 thank u! ive had it right early in the gears but cant ever seem to get it where i can leave it for good. ill try that for sure. the forums dont really say any of this
Glad your alright man. Made me sick to my stomach looking at the bike knowing the work ya put into it. Like to see what your looking at when you get it apart.
If you're too lean you're losing peak hp, but if you're a little rich you're really not. Since it didn't appear to be locked down I'd guess it's probably something in the top end. A lot of these guys out here that race the long desert races will fry crankshaft bearings because they're WFO for a mile or so, the bike is hot, but once they chop the throttle it locks up because it shuts off all the fuel/oil, especially if their needle completely cuts off the main jet. If they drop the clip and raise the needle a little it's way less likely to happen.
When you rebuild a bike run it rich initially to break in the engine really well before you lean it back out and find the optimal air/fuel ratio. That should prevent the crank or piston to just prematurely fail like that
Hell yeah
He's got mad money he ain't worried about it lol
It’s those kx’s with the nikasil sleeves bro, they blow up if you’re just a tad too lean sometimes. Sucks
If your still having that ticking issue on your 125 my bike had the same and it was becuase the throttle slide was rattling in the carburetor and my buddy had a similar noise becuase of one of his exhaust bolts
Glad your good bros, hate to see that brand
New build go down. But it’s good your fine coulda been bad, and from 5 min before the crash it was bogging down like it wanted to blow sounded like it got too hot no coolant 😂 or 50.1 is no go idk but love your videos and I’m glad your safe bros
nothings better than the feeling of an old kx tossing you over the bars
You rode fast for new piston And full motor
Glad you're okay & at least we get some rebuild content!
Dude doesn’t lock tight bolts or set carbs lmao hell of a builder son
a pwk with a stic block with Rev longer, be easy to jet and adjust for temp changes and feel better than a lectron
Some crazy wheelies
I think you should get you a yamaha 125 two stroke but I've heard the new ones aren't good so like a 2019 is pretty good in my opinion
It’s always a good day if you can walk away homie
Love the videos, second one i watched so far and its great
Bummer on the bike but glad you're ok mate. Run your premix 32:1.
very nice!!power bike!!
I've always mixed my bikes at 32.1 never had a problem i blew 2 up at 40.1 so may want to richen it up a little.
Why dont you get yourself a Yamaha yz 250fx for your trail adventures?
What sprockets are you running on the kx....my bike had a 14 49 but debating where to go
Love your content Tyler!😃
sounded like crap o well live and learn glad your ok
you need to get a honda mx bike
you prob put powdercoat in the caliper
Wasint built right ..
I could honestly tell just from what you poured into that tank that your fuel didn't have enough oil
Lectron carb 💩💩💩 , slow 250 the 125 in video its faster, oem carb and jetting is sure for no problem !!
It’s the lectron carbs
hey man! what was that step you had to load the bike on the back of your ute? i have a silverado now and cannot get my bike up there, im 5”6 😂
You’re continuously always adjusting carbs
It’s those lectrons my buddy had the same thing happen
What frame is the 450 l
You can tell by the way it sounds it was too lean
I bought a 1986 kx 250 to restore. Can u help with parts
40-1 shouldn’t be that lean something up with that Lectron possibly ?
had hell with my tc125 lectron, but im not mechanically inclined enough to tell what the problem was. seems like the same problem tho. hopefully lectron fixes this, it was always advertised to me as the adjustment free carb. sure sucks they come needing tons of adjustment
at 3:09 i crashed that same way my front end went down and i went over the handle and hit my head right in the temple so i got knocked out
50to1
🔥
Whats the first song when your video starts?
Nooo it’s was 🔥
what track is this?
Its a kawai what u think
You should get a new honda 450r or 250r
Seen so many lectron carbs cause that issue
any update?
Lectron comes too lean from the Team.
What’s the name of the track you rode at?
mix 32:1
I crash a lot don't feel bad
give me a min i ate too much lmao
It is because you have a kx but if it does it age you sound get a Honda
This is what happens when you dont know what you are doing but you think you do
Looks like it happens on all your bikes
Man that sucks
I run my 2 stroke in a 16:1 or a 32:1
Next time tune ur carb
leantron lol
Go back to a mikuni or Keihin man
User error
nothing wrong with 32:1
;
That’s why I sold my kx 250 I don’t like 2 strokes
And that’s why I don’t run a lectron their sh!t, you have everyone saying about oh how you gotta adjust it slightly but yet all I’ve had is issues, so have you and I know a lot of other people that have them. I wouldn’t accept the product if they paid me. But now because of that mistake it’s costs you a lot more money and time and you could have been seriously hurt, I wouldn’t risk it again all you need is a kehien pwk36 and a STIC and your good
Lectron and smart carb are both good products the problem is everyone who has a problem typically can't understand/get a normal carb to work properly so they assume lectron and smart carb are plug and play out of the box. They they blow their shit up regardless because they don't understand setting up either carb jet or lectron/smart. I'd say a solid 95% of failures is user error by thinking these are all plug n play. Then they are dumb founded the bike blows up or runs like shit.
@@XecuTionNxx I’ve owned a few lectrons and I know people that have brought alot more also but every time doesn’t matter how much you adjust the metering rod or the high speed they are still sh!t carbs. Make the power very smooth and it just makes them weak unlike an actual carburettor which barks. I contacted lectron so much they ignored me because I had that many issues. Never used the smart carb which is made by the same people but I think they look fugly so never wanted to use one and never will. Getting a STIC was the best thing that’s ever happened completely wakes the motor up from a stock to a full blown race motor
give it away bro😂
I'm starting to realize that dirtbikes are not what they're worth!! Everything has to be perfect all the time so that they don't break. You have to do all these upgrades. Why can't someone just go buy a bike and enjoy for at least 2 years before something breaks? They design the parts to sensitive.
get rid of that lectron bro…
😳☹️
What the fuck is the 450l I’m short as shit 5’8 and that that’s a bit of me that
Swear that’s only small cos it’s on small wheels
wow hahaha bro go get your money like normal, bro crash his bike and does an add for omaze lmao
Thanks for showing us all why LECTRON sucks ass and mechanical components are the best to ever exist.
Those 6cyl sound like shit.
First
This bike, like most of your builds, is a complete joke.
Thanks man you’re killing the builds as well! 😂🥴
you dont seem that smart with dirtbikes
Buy a Yamaha
Did you try putting it in rice
I’m going to try that next 😂😂😂😂
hahaha
Nothing beats a well tuned Keihin carb! Ask wizard at Kaplan Cycles he will tell ya it's all in the carb
Facts can't beat a airstriker with someone who knows how too jet
This bike sounded like it was dying right from the start, to bad it happened on a jump
Tough hit, glad your ok. You can tell that motor wasn't hitting and didn't sound happy. I generally run 32:1 with a tuned carb and ring it's neck and been all good, no rich or fouled plug problems.
Not to be that guy...
But why the fuck would you flog the shit out of a bike you weren't 100% sure was jetted correctly?
the kx250 owners manual calls for 32:1
holy shit, good to see ur alright but..... Maybe mix it 32 to one, and go a little rich on ur jettin.....
If it aint smokin, its about to be broken. That smoke lets you know that there is still unburnt oil in there.
They are way too lean . I stopped using them . You could tell. That thing sounds like a 125 .
Holy crap, I didn't read the title and literally thought he was riding a 125
Don't run your bikes at 40:1 I have my yz125 really rich tuned and I run 32:1 especially if your only riding track at high rpm that's probably why the 125 keeps blowing up. You NEED to tune the lectrons
Man
love your content! keep up the good work!
Duuude you really couldn't tell???As soon as you took off u can hear that poor thing is leeeeaaaannn
How the fuck u blow up a 250 2 stroke o wait I know it’s a not a yz250 2 stroke
Definitely want to see more of the Honda CRF 450 L in videos definitely have missed seeing you ride the 450 L.
If it's vibrating engine mounts out take it to a shop get it gone through. My wrench said it's supposed to vibrate like that. He's dumb I'll save my money get it rebuilt correctly.
you dont run 40:1 on the first ride the engine isnt broken in yet you gotta run like 25:1 for the first tank of gas and carry a bag of spark plugs with you
Gotta lean back more. Slow them wheelies down 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hey Tyler I have a kx250 2stroke I’m selling are you interested?
