very helpful. when I cleaned all single parts of my calipers I didnt know how to put them back together again. Also got a Ti bolt set now. btw, don't appologize for that cutie, hes so sweet. Kids bring as much joy in our lives as working on our Bromptons ;)
For now my Superlight is down to 9, 35 kilo with mudguards, and still some easy ways to make it even lighter. A new carbon handlebar and a change of the Heavy Metal clamps on the mudguards. And I still miss to change some of the original brake parts to titanium. I have a titanium wedge for my headset and its titanium bolts. Finn. Denmark
I have changed parts and bolts on my brakes to Titanium (even the small security bolts for brake pads + the holder for the pads), latest the two holders on the frame, as I needed a set from the at least model year 2018, on my 2019 Lightweight. I just bought a "full set" and expected it to function, but the holding bolts wasn't the size needed, so I found a Chinese Dealer able to sell me just the two long bolts. Finn. Denmark
Hi Andy! I tighten all the bolts until they stop and then a little turn extra. From my experience, that is how all bolts are built unless they have a torque spec available. I am not aware of any Brompton manuals thar have the torque spec for the brakes. The bolt that keeps the three arms together needs to be loose in order to pivot properly. It has two black washers that need to pivot when the brakes are squeezed. I also lubricate this bolt so it pivots freely. If you are not sure you can ask any bike shop to check and they will do it for free usually.
@@BromptonFamilyTime Hi, thank you so much for the information. I did loosen slightly for the middle bolt that secure 3 arms together. The issue is wondering why the brake centering off during my ride after I have centered it by the mini grub screw. Probably really need to send for servicing.
Hi Andy! Sorry for the late reply. I missed the comment. If your brake caliper is not centered it could be a few things causing it. The mini grub is for fine tuning to keep the brake pad distance to the rim even on both sides. Is the brake caliper functioning properly?
Some folding bikes, especially those made from China using the same folding technic as Brompton at affordable prices. It's quite a good choice for buyers who want to have this type of folding bike. Brompton probably is way too expensive. Overall, quality and reliability are other topics.
👨🏼🦲I have never seen a clone Brompton before. I am curious how they make the hinges and if they are made the same way. I would get a Dahon if I could not afford a Brompton 🙃
@@BromptonFamilyTime As far as I know, The copyright of the folding technique that was once owned by Brompton has now expired. Other companies can make the folding bike using the same way Brompton does.
But beware, that they may be made for "lighter people" of a smaller size. As a tall European, 184 cm and 100 kilo, I wouldn't trust the less expensive versions to last. And the Brompton soldering's are excellently made!

Very helpful.. I was stuck after removing the caliber.. but your video showed the way... specially to takes photos before you remove the calliper..
thanks for this really helpful video!!!
Wonderful. Will the front caliper be the same procedure? お疲れ様でした
Yes, the front brake caliper is built the same way. It will take about 15 minutes to do each brake. Good luck!
Good idea. Take pictures beforehand 👍
And video he said!

And I must admit I prefer a key/keys of the size for the work, and not an adjustable tool!
In the middle main bolt that is going to insert into fork be tighten dead or lose?

Please check out the Park Tools link. It has helped me learn about the Brompton brakes and making small adjustments.

@@BromptonFamilyTime I prefer Dahon too.
