OMG you found the Philips Magnavox dvd demo. That's nice. And also I don't have the RCA DVD demo The only demo I have was the Toshiba DVD gallery, that was the first one I came out and i also have ultimate DVD demo disk from Miramar. And also the Pioneer DVD demo this as well.

I actually found an alternate version of this on another channel. The main differences were that it just said "Philips" instead of "Philips Magnavox", the movie clips were changed, and the graphics and announcer went a bit slower. Anyway, thanks for this version, and I can't wait to finally see the "more information" segments. See you tomorrow!

Damn I still remember this when it was "Cutting Edge" at that time. Now DVD's fade away and got replaced by TV's that pick up wifi signals.

It's funny how they advertise Dolby Digital when Philips lobbied during development of DVD Video to make Dolby Digital an optional format only with MPEG-1 audio the only mandatory format aside from LPCM. In the end, on the European market both became accepted as mandatory, but Philips weren't happy. Dolby and DTS won the war for multichannel sound as few receiver manufacturers added support for MPEG Multichannel because of licensing costs and studios went with Dolby and DTS anyway. MPEG Multichannel died off pretty quickly, but 2-channel MPEG-1 stuck around for various 2.0 content.

Were any DVDs put out with an MPEG multichannel track? I have a few that are 2-channel MPEG which my players output as PCM, I’ve never seen any receivers I have natively decode it.

@@TheMediaHoarder I honestly don't know if there were any DVDs that had MPEG Multichannel. For a few years Philips did make some receivers for the European market that could decode it however.

Man, I gots to get me a DEE VEE DEE player!
But the region lock sucked ass. I hate it on Blu-Rays too, but atleast a good majority of them are region free.

Trying to find a region free player is a pain in the ass.
      Then and now.

@@pauljensen5699 it’s even worse now. I just keep my old all-region DVD player hooked up to my old LED tv, and get the laser repaired every year or so. Thought I’d buy another one to use in another room in my house, but the cost is too damn high. I couldn’t even find a region free blu ray player. Pain in the ass.
