Build a floating dock, that way you can move it for your needs as the water levels change. I love that ya'll are bringing us on your awesome journey! Blessings 🙌
Good morning Cog Hill and Cog squad glad to hear everything is falling in place for you all. Everyone remember to smash the like button for the best channel on U Tube
Before i forget... have Googled ''Can emus swim -- yes they can & do, they may have small wings but they do have large feet & kick very well!! So, yay! go Nugget!!!"
Jason, you and Brooke have achieved so much on the 40. I know you have had Incredible builders but it’s your twos insight., your vision which is so beautiful. Can’t wait to see the pond when it’s full!
Jason, how about a floating dock? That could be put anywhere on the pond and secured on any side depending on the water level. As for the goats and water, maybe goats can't swim.
Nancy Korsmen....... Great idea! I thought of that also, maybe on large hinges to raise up and down according to the level of the water! I think Al at Lumnah Acres built a floating dock on his pond on a hinge attached to the shore. God Bless!
You could make a floating dock - floats up & down with the water depth & you can have a tie it off at different areas/sides of the pond & you can tie you paddle boat too, How much fun will that be? Awesome! You've all done a great job - everything's looking good.
I love the Brim too. The first one I ever caught was on a gold unbaited hook. Daddy took me on a Saturday morning because Momma had to work. And I'd been begging him to take me fishing. He didn't really expect me to catch anything because we didn't have any bait. But low and behold I caught a little Brim about the size of Daddy's hand.
😂😅🤣 Jason, you had me laughing to tears when you told Peaches about her big personal float with a cup holder for her Pina Colada! I could just imagine her leaning back holding a stemmed glass with an umbrella in her trotters 😆 🤣! Nugget standing in the water nearby with a waiter's vest and a tray suspended around his neck bringing the Boss Lady her fresh drink 🍹😎 👍😂😂! Thanks for the visual 😉😊 Blessings to all from Middle TN, La'Del Cassidy
Thanks for the update! We are setting up our farm - mostly renovations and I completely understand what you are saying! We will have to fix a broken dam when we get to that end of our list - the pond is real near the bottom of ‘Things to Do’ for us. House is the current priority and care of the few animals we just couldn’t wait to get! I have so enjoyed watching your journey, you guys are inspirational!
Yes Jason I was born in Boaz Alabama and lived in and around that are until I was about 11 and loved fishing with my family. I remember catching the brim with a cane pole and also catfish! Im 73 and you brought back memories of a time that I so enjoyed! Thank you!
When the hurricane systems start coming through, your pond will get filled up quickly. You have lots more things that need attention now. It will be beautiful!
This is from the Oakland zoo... Emus can swim if presented the opportunity and are actually quite good swimmers. Emus are the only bird with calf muscles. This allows them to sprint at speed up to 30 mph and to jump 7 feet straight up! With time that pond is going to be delish.
We have 2 ponds on our property. One is about 30 feet deep, and aproximately 1/2 a mile long. It's stocked with fish. When we go out on the dam to just relax, we love it. One thing we have to watch out for are the ocassional water mocassin snake. I've had to kill 2 because they were aggressive. While cutting the grass on the slope of the dam with a push mower the two snakes came at me. We have a raised storage ramp off the far side of the dam to park a 2 person pedal boat. This pond has attracted golden eagles, and a blue heron to fish yearly. We know the ponds are healthy because we have frogs, and a few turtles. Once or twice a year you'll see your pond naturally turn. We have a natural creek that runs from the far side of the pond wall. Which helps bring water in. Our main water source, rain water. The other pond was left natural to attract the wildlife. It has cat tails, and natural slopes for the wildlife to use for water. Once your all done doing your house build, driveway, and remaining construction the pond will fill, and settle. At which point, the true beauty of your pond will show it's self.
Jason, I grew up and lived pretty much my entire life in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. We had a growing/garden season of about 3 months give or take a week or two. We moved to Georgia a little less than a year ago. Growing season is almost year round here. It's going to take some time to wrap my head around it. I guess I am too well programmed with a very short gardening season. I just don't think like that. But one thing I truly know is that being able to dig in the dirt and grow things any time I please is soooo much fun!! The humidity.....not so much. A totally different way of life and living. At 63 I feel like a teenager just learning my way around! Lol. You, Brooke and MaryCarl have a wonderfully blessed day
Another awesome video. It’s so crazy how excited I get when I see a Cog Hill video pop up. You guys know how much I love y’all and every single animal on your amazing farm. It’s fun watching everything come to fruition! It is going to be stunning when everything comes together. I’m saying 90% will be completed within the next 2 years. Y’all are such hard workers and you just can’t help it. That’s exactly how I was 30 years ago❤️🤍💙🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Good things are always worth the wait. Your new gardens and fruit orchard are amazing. Soon you will be in the house, and everything will be easier. Waiting patiently for Breakfast with Brooke. Love to all.
Hi Cogsters! Our Birds taught us about Black-Oil Sunflowers. We are never at a loss for Sunflowers. They are in our compost, potting soil. Nothing goes without it's complimentary Sunflower sprouts! Using the sprouts for green fertilizer. I also feed the birds the bounty of the flower heads. Food that is beautiful is best! Bright Blessings for the perfect amount of rain for all of us!
I think you have it right you will see what happens when the time comes, the aerial views of your property are fantastic, I would love to see Peaches on a floaty LOL God bless you stay safe and take care
For your dock in the pond, use 55 gallon plastic drums End to end 2 wide as long as you want. just anchor it to the shore and you can move it as the water rises.
Love this video, Jason! Your garden looks so inviting…the pond is alright too…inviting to the feathered creatures. The barndominium and mother in law quarters looks awesome. How exciting is this!
Thnx for the pond update folks, been curious. Stocking it is a great idea. I’m torn if I want the ducks and the geese in it, we’re creating a farm stay here and it’d be an attraction for potential guests…canoeing and kayaking, fishing, ice skating, hockey, ice fishing etc. lots of great ideas, we’re gonna need a good amount of money saved up though but it’s in our plan. Animals might just muck it all up. I finally finished the Goose Caboose so they’re getting comfy in their new digs. We did giant sunflowers last year and they were beautiful and we got a ton of seeds from them.Great update video.Cheers, Chad.😊 🌻
That was my thinking, too. That it sure would be beautiful to see all the ducks and geese out there. But, I was thinking too, that they might muck it all up. It might not be nearly as nice with all that fertilizer going in helping algae and such to grow. Plus, like Jason said, it might not be very relaxing with the alarm system going on there. Your plan for your farm stay sounds really lovely, too. 👍
I was foung to say have a little boat house and a floating dock maybe ,i can see you all out there fishing and having fun ,Nugget says he will have a paddle but swimming isnt for him ,glad to see you all back and better ,everythings beautiful on the Coghill 40 💕🙏🏻
I really enjoy sharing with you all the excitement of building up the farm and all the dreams and goals ya’ll are working towards. I appreciate your patience and willingness to share your life with us. Thank you so much!
I think the pond will be wonderful and I can't wait to see it all full of fish and Marycarl fishing with Jason. But I also think with everything going on and getting the house finished that the pond is not the priority. It will be done when it's done but there are so many projects that are more important. You all have done so much and have so much accomplished it's mind boggling. 🥰🥰🥰
Emus are great swimmers, they can cross big turbulent rivers with relative ease. I've seen a video of two emus crossing the Murray River pretty far downstream where it's really wide, and that's Australia's biggest river. It'll be cool to see Nugget expressing some more of his natural behaviours. ☺️
Hey, y’all! I just want to thank you for the beautiful flowers and gardens and animals❣️ For the first time in my 70 years, I am unable to plant. At least I do have flowers/shrubs/trees which return, and I love them, but I can’t really care for them like I used to. At least I am very blessed to walk and enjoy y’all every day. Again, thank you for brightening each day! Love y’all❣️
I hope Mrs Brook, gets into her new kitchen sooner than she is hoping for. It's coming together nicely. Keep us updated on the pond when the rain comes. Best of luck
I am almost 74 and I just enjoy watching you take care of your farm. I grew up on a farm until grand daddy passed I was 11years old you bring lots of Fantastic memories from my childhood I am from Western North Carolina God bless your family and hope everyone is getting well
It’s so awesome of you to take time out of your busy schedule to update us on the pond. It’s coming together.!! By this time next year the whole farm will be different and pretty much the way you guys want things. Knowing you and Brooke idk if you’ll ever stop and rest to enjoy your hard work !! You’ve gotta be 2 of the hardest working people I’ve ever seen -and Mary Carl is just like both of you!! I enjoy watching your family and seeing this whole journey of starting a new farm. It’s easy see that farming is hard work but still rewarding in so many ways!! Ty for sharing your lives with us!!❤️😊❤️
The farm I now own in north central Arkansas was my uncles and back in the day he was talked into putting grass carpet in his pond. They ate all the vegetation where the fry hit from predators. Pond went from a great fishing pond to a little more than a mud hole because all the vegetation that was eating out was what cleaned the water and slowed it down when draining into our pond. When I bought the farm from the family after my uncle passed I had the farm ponds reworked. There were huge carp in the largest pond. Very little else except for perch the best they were gone. I used to watch huge schools of bass circling that pond when I was a kid. Just something I wanted to pass along I wouldn't do it unless you had a severe weed problem in your pond. Oh yeah the duck grass it's pretty bad in Arkansas, duckweed they call it. I have Mallards to take care of that.
Jason I qas just thinking about using a ram pump. the fresh water will help the pond stay cleaner. Don't forget to stock some aquatic plants for the fish to hide under and also change over the oxygen levels
I think Peaches loves the idea of a float with a cup holder. She probably needs a couple of pool boys too. One to refresh her drinks and one to bring her snacks. Oh, don’t forget to attach that umbrella that came with her float. 🐖🍸🍟🛟 ⛱
Lots of good information about the pond. Thanks! Recently I re watched one of the videos when you first introduced the 40. The thing that struck me the most about the 40 now is the life you've brought to it. It was always a beautiful piece of property. But with the various structures, animals, plantings. and color - - that you have lovingly created - - it's full of LIFE & Promise. Thank you for allowing us to watch along the way! :o)
The pond is going to be amazing once it is full. And I can't wait until the field of sunflowers is in bloom! So beautiful!💖🌻💖 Still praying for everyone to get the rain they need. 💖🙏💖
T he pond looks spectacular, I can hardly wait to see it in its entirety! It’s getting difficult to decide what my favorite part of the property build is now. Congratulations 🎈
I would like to see a depth gauge in the pond, will need to go to the deepest point. Just a suggestion as I know you are very busy. Take care very nice to see your property is growing.
Everything coming together. Excited about the pond. Im like Brooke just sit by the pond and relax. Love all the colors in the garden. Hope ya'll have a wonderful day. Love you guys.
We are having a mild drought here in Massachusetts so I was happy to have put in a rain barrel. I attached it to one of my downspouts. I'll use that water for watering my plants. I was wondering if you had done it on the old Cog Hill or if you plan on doing it at the new Cog Hill 40, by it I mean installing rain barrels.
Same here in Indiana. I have huge buckets that catch the rain along with the traditional rain barrel. The water is used for all my plants/flowers. Saves on my water bill.
Sounds like ya'll might want to get a snake kit. We bought one for my daughter, who loves snakes, but we have used it when venomous snakes got into the chicken coop. Long bite proof gloves, some snake handling hooks and gripper sticks, and a bite proof bag to transport.
Excellient idea! In my teens we moved into our forever home on the mountainside & over time came across four different venomous snakes - Cape cobra, boomslang (iiteral translation : tree snake), puffadder & skaapsteker (Psammophylax rhombeatus) big name for a 18" to 55" skinny striped snake. Scary, & it wasn't as if we had any animals /pets at that time that would be an attraction to them. All common to South Africa. But yes I'd say to a snake kit, better safe than sorry.
Need to get some good snake boots to wear, back in the woods. Thank you very much, please have a awesome day. P.S. Really love your family and channel.
When I was Mary Carl’s age, I used to fish for bream in our neighborhood lake which was the size of your pond. I’d grab a few slices of soft white bread, wad some up and use it for bait. The bream loved it!
Good eveing Cog Hill 40 Thanks again for another wonderful video glad to see everything is going good for you guys it wont be long now before you know it you will be in your new Happy home we are all soooo Happy for you guys Thanks for sharing your beautiful family with all of us 😊😇💝🌤🌹🌻⚘🦋🌷
I would be scared to death of the snakes 🐍. You and Brooke have done such amazing things on the 40. That house is a true vision. Absolutely gorgeous! God bless love ❤ you all ❤
Good morning y’all! What progress you’ve made! You all are living my dream! I grew up with a pond in front of my house and 3 others right near us and we loved to fish for sunnies and perch. You brought back wonderful memories! Bless you, Brooke, MaryCarl and all the critters.
Good afternoon Cog Hill, I spit my drink out, when Jason said Nugget wasn’t Michael Phelps & he’d get Nugget some swimmes… 😂😂I just love you guys. I always feel good after I watch a Cog Hill Farm video.. 🤣🤣❤️❤️
God Bless you and your family. Ur pond is looking nice. As for seeing those poisonous snakes, please b careful where u are walking. Love watching ur videos. Have a great day.

@@Angelhorselady That sounds like the perfect solution to the weed problem in the pond.

Everything coming together. Excited about the pond. Im like Brooke just sit by the pond and relax. Love all the colors in the garden. Hope ya'll have a wonderful day. Love you guys.
I'm So Excited for the Pond to fill up!! What an Awesome Idea to use it to irrigate your flower gardens!! God Bless and have a Wonderful Weekend!! ⚘❤😊
The pond looks amazing!! I can just picture it filled up. Happy days!
Them ducks gonna be in heaven. Beautiful
Sounds like ya'll might want to get a snake kit. We bought one for my daughter, who loves snakes, but we have used it when venomous snakes got into the chicken coop. Long bite proof gloves, some snake handling hooks and gripper sticks, and a bite proof bag to transport.
Right!
Excellient idea! In my teens we moved into our forever home on the mountainside & over time came across four different venomous snakes - Cape cobra, boomslang (iiteral translation : tree snake), puffadder & skaapsteker
(Psammophylax rhombeatus) big name for a 18" to 55" skinny striped snake.
That list of fall vegetables sounds amazing!! Can’t wait to see you plant your Fall garden. I hope this drought ends soon
The poop is unbelievable deep !! I’m a camp host and we have Canadian geese and the poop is huge and outta control!! God Bless!!
