    I snapped a bolt trying to torque the rear control arm bolts to 88.5ft*lbf. For both bolts the correct torque is 59ft*lbf.

    It might be good to go over measuring shock body length compared to stock so people know how to get the exact drop they want. Given your coil overs have an adjustable shock body.

    Please double check your torque spec figures. The service manual says all rear lower control arm nuts EXCEPT for the sway bar end link and the headlight sensor nuts should be tightened to [59 ft*lbf]. The end link nut is 28 and the headlight sensor 5.5 ft lbf.

    Thomas, when you drop your car from from factory height with coilovers. Its ok to use oem endlinks? I cant see how that works cuz the oem endlink is long and the car has been lowered. Wouldnt you need aftermarket adjustable endlinks to compensate for the amount of inches lowered?

    • @factionfab5834
      @factionfab5834 5 років тому +2

      Its never a bad idea to use adjustable endlinks, however it depends also how much you drop the car. This will mostly depend on how low you go, however for our coilovers as they are not super low you can use stock, but if you go much lower it would not be a bad option to upgrade to adjustable units.

    my friend and I are facing a problem where we cant get the lower control arm back into place, the holes don't line up properly for us to put the bolt back into place... We have to push the whole assembly outwards in order to move the LCA in the right direction but even then it doesn't seem to be enough

    • @FTspeed
      @FTspeed  3 роки тому +1

      Are you only working on one side of the car at a time? Try to unbolt the endlink from both sides as this can cause a lot of tension causing you to not be able to line things up.

    • @B1SQ1T
      @B1SQ1T 3 роки тому

      @@FTspeed Hey thanks so much for the reply! We took the OEM suspension off both sides so I don't think that was causing the issue... in the end we just had two of us pulling the lower control arm outwards while I pushed it into place and that worked... in the tein basis installation video I saw that the LCA just pretty much got wiggled into place. Maybe just having one of us wasn't strong enough or something haha, everything seems good now though, just need to get an alignment done and I think it's good to go :D

    • @alexjohnson1439
      @alexjohnson1439 5 років тому +1

      Steven Wong you don’t NEED to get aftermarket ones but it’s easier to work with new ones and it will allow your sway bar to be in the factory positioning when you lower the car so it does it’s job correctly

    How do these (FR-Spec) compare to Tein flex Z in terms of durability/miles?
    How many miles should I expect from either of these coilovers?
    Edit: I'm reading the comments about ft86 customer service. Guys they aren't that bad. Honestly and I'm a horrible customer, I harrassed them about nearly every part I've purchased from them. They answered every single one of those questions. Please be patient.

    • @factionfab5834
      @factionfab5834 5 років тому +4

      Generally speaking, it's hard to say "how long". Reason being is it depends heavily on the environment that the car is driven in, and how the coilovers are treated. So-Cal with smooth roads, no track days, an no exposure to dirt/Sand/Salt, they can last for the life of the car. But if you drive in the salt, off-road or in harsh conditions, always bottoming out the coilover and never washing them, you can't expect them to last longer then a few years (or any other suspension for that matter). With that said, our coilovers come with a 1 year warranty and if something ever happens we do offer replacement components such as struts for sale individually.

    Some coilovers come with sway bar end links are you required to install them too ? Or can you use the factory ones and be fine ?

    • @iCirno
      @iCirno 4 роки тому +1

      it depends on the design of the coilover where it mounts, if it doesnt come with it its prob a good idea to get them cause other wise the end link will either be too long or too short depending on how low you wanna run it. if you wanna go real low or slammed you'd need em if you wanna retain the use of your stock sway bar. if you chance it and you end up not being able to get the stocks installed then you can run without them until you order some adjustable ones, you'll be fine but the cars gonna feel like crap during spirited driving since they obviously link both struts to each other
