I was amused by your pairing of "the woman of the barrow" with an image of a woman with a wheelbarrow but I assume that the barrow referred to here is a mound or a tumulus :) Just discovered your channel and working my way through your fascinating videos, also appreciate you naming your sources, looking forward to future installments on Irish legends.

Spot on with the barrow assessment...clearly I was tired when searching for images for this one haha (and I was reading about the washerwoman and thought "oh yeah she pushes a cart around with all the dirty clothes"). Anyway, thank you for watching and for your thoughtful comment!

Nice. The whole time I’m relating the word you say is “shee” spelled Sidhe, and it’s relation to Indo-European derivative words, the Siddhi, in Middle East Jiddi refers to Sprit entities angels and demons, supernatural abilities, communication and awareness with what is invisible to many, goes a lot deeper and higher than what people call a “medium”. But anyhow, Etymology, and when things are translated into “English” they often lose their true meanings, and are lost in translation. Could people not simply learn how to say things? If literature was bound to the original spellings of the alpha beta systems Would be a much different world today if many things weren’t rewritten in English.

I often think about this in terms of place names: why do we pronounce Paris "pah-ris" in English? Why not just pronounce it the original French way (pah-ree)?

Came here from the article - I work on a local magazine in Cork and would love to mention your Brigid idea (with reference of course!) In my next piece (it's on Banshees, big surprise!)
Please let me know if this is okay!

I'm so sorry I didn't see this sooner! Of course you can reference the Brigid theory. Good luck with your piece -- feel free to drop a link here when it's finished, would love to read it!

I was expecting photo of whales to pop up when the Celtic nation of Wales was mentioned.

A lot of people will discredit the term Celtic because the people themselves who this term describes never called themselves Celtic however just because those people were not aware of the linguistic and cultural connections between them doesn’t mean that those connections didn’t exist therefore a modern day term is necessary to describe these links in a broad category. Furthermore those people who want to attack the various different cultures by saying all of these practices are modern invention is total hogwash there is a abundance of historical evidence and examples that anyone who has even a shred of academic legitimacy would be forced to acknowledge their existence.
