By fire and blood
I shall shatter the Heavens.
And open a new campaign after 100 turns.
By fire only, blood if you pay for the DLC
@@RRRRRRRRR33 and heavens for DLC too.
that's me, haha.
@@meowskylev4785 Ha ha ha :v for DLC

Hapless nameless Chinese soldier: explodes and dies in agony

Thanks for listening to our feedback, CA!
What feedback did they use?
Extreme unit sizes, new unit cards, records mode with romance visuals
@@usadefcon1 AND... Chinese V/O
Love it!
the battle ui could use a little work not a fan of the green orbs above units but loving all the changes you guys made so far thank you :)
another "massive" player is the tyrant Dong zho XD
Be careful he can cannon ball your castle. In one day.
i choose the one who said " I shall betray the world than let the world betray me"
@Orlando Rivera Estrada He said that after accidentally killing a friend
@@EricChien95 The story goes that Cao Cao and Chen Gong are seeking refuge in Lu Boshe's house. The two hear Lu Boshe's servants talking about sharpening knives and killing, and think that Lu Boshe is trying to kill them, so they kill all the servants.
Later, Lu Boshe mentions to Cao Cao and Chen Gong that he planned to slaughter a pig for a feast. Hearing this, Cao Cao kills Lu Boshe, otherwise Lu Boshe would have called the police.
threekingdoms.kongming.net/4
@@chrisnguyen1186 Hmm that is slightly different tone than the one I learnt in high school though is it from the novel or history
@@EricChien95 It's straight from Romance of the 3k, so it's probably fiction.
Liu Bei right? Wouldn't put it past that backstabbing opportunist...
Delaying the Game was the best decision
Painfu
Armageddon I agree to disagree
@Toroko12 I hope
It was the right decision
Are you kidding me? Cao Cao all the way! The ability to instigate proxy wars and manipulate faction opinions... I WANT IT NOW haha
Under the AI he's also demonstrated some notable 'messing with the player' methods -- be it voting in a shared coalition to build his diplomatic standing until he's got a majority for a vote to expel the player, or checking the player's momentum (when attacking Cao Cao) by making himself the vassal of someone that the player ought not cross...
And the textual evidence is that in the initial draft of 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms' he is the hero. He is a Han loyalist, he is ruthless, but he's also fair. He wants to restore the empire not tear it apart.
Q: How will you rule China?
A: Build GFW and make the outer internet a DLC.
I want a yellow sky
The emperor is dead!
Long live the yellow turbans!
I will create a puppet lord to do my bidding and from the shadows I, Neb Hillburk, shall be the true ruler of The Middle Kingdom!
Bandit queen will definitely be my first play through. I need a challenge! :D
Same
Who care we want Diao Chan !!!
Definitely Gongsun Zan. Forget about Lu Bu, Zhao Yun was the true warrior in 3K.
Cao Cao.
Looking forward to my Cathay with dragons and jade lions and imperial units for WH3.
@Ix Suomi Read up Chinese mythology and the Journey to the West and you'll realize its GOT styled politics wrapped in a multiplayer real life mmoprg - Romance of the Three Kingdoms is exactly that. In that period you could become a general just being a peasant. Very much like today you pick a character in Pillars of Eternity and progress through ranks. China's whole culture is a massive mmorpg. Journey to the West - just read that. The Monkey King etc.
CA would be amiss not to look at the fact that Cathay and 3k are similar. One is fantasy Chinese culture and the other is realistic Chinese culture just tied into a novel written centuries ago. Just look at so many Chinese dramas and tell me if you see a lot of mythological (the story needs to be improved) action shots, etc. Cathay would I think be a fantastic choice for a DLC. I mean For Honor did a DLC on that.
They messed up with Araby. I am fairly certain they won't do it with Cathay, because well let's face it, they're the equivalent of the Empire in WH3 and they're the good guys. Cathay could potentially be a success. Let's hope.
Except unlike the Empire whose getting bombarded, attacked and vilified, Cathay is quite competent.
Plus Chinese Dragons are cool. Very cool.
I can't wait for this, I'm having Dynasty Warrior flashbacks!
*Don't chase Lu Bu*
I have enough do not Pursue Lu bu
The Time has come to Pursue and kill the beast
In dynasty warriors 6
I never stop i kill him a few times
Same
I'm going to pursue lu bu, just not going to adopt him...bad move there
~Cao Cao: Frank Underwood 💙
~Liu Bei: Generic Fantasy Protagonist 💚
~Sun Family: Starks (The Southlands Remembers) 💔
Xiahaou dun is cao cao's "Doug stamper" 😂😂😂😂😂
I know I should show restraint, but I have big big hopes for this game! YES
Thrones of Britannia, I will just say that.
@@RRRRRRRRR33 You can't compare the amount of effort that went into these two games. They're miles apart and ToB isn't even a full game considering it only costs a fraction of their other titles. CA seems determined to make this a success which is why they delayed it. If not at release then certainly after some patches.
@@Auso572 sure, thrones didn't had a big budget, but it was still sold at 50 bucks at launch. You people are so alienated, it's pitiful.
@@RRRRRRRRR33 Since release ToB cost 39€ vs TW: Warhammer 1 / 2 still being at 59€. Don't blame others if you can't recognize more low effort side projects.
@@Auso572Blaming? I am just stating facts. Thrones was sold at 50 dollars in my country. Nobody bought it, they dropped it to 40. Doesn't matter if it has a big budget or not, trash is trash. What was the last good "historical" TW game in the last 10 years? That's the point of the original comment, people with a brain will not expect a good product from this pathetic developer. If they deliver a good product, sure, that's good. But don't start with this stupidity of "If not at release then certainly after some patches". This game, any game really, should be released at 100%, properly tested. You people don't demand quality, that's why trash like this exists. Just go out there and buy this at launch, then blood DLC, etc.. it's because of consumers like you that this series is ruined.
Sun Jian!
Can't wait to play as Liu Bei, forming friendships with people way stronger than me and letting Guan Yu and Zhang Fei 1v1 other generals instead of actually having a well thought army, in the name of *benevolence* of course
Wait a minute.... this isn't Cathay!
On a serious note this is shaping up to be a good release, hope it goes well.
Callum Jennings Cathay was based on Qing dynasty anyway. A completely different period in like 1400yrs later. GW named the current Dragon Emperor Pu-Yi... Same name as the last emperor of the Qing dynasty. And GW described a banner system, much like the Qing banner armies.
But it is Cathay...
@@abmong Still hoping that CA can for some way put it to the 3rd game even though the chance is very much unlikely.
@@Bayofthe91st I think if Cathay was to be added it would work better in a surprise 4th Installment based on the Eastern Kingdoms where the 4 core factions are Cathay, Ind, Khureshi Naga and Nippon. Though that is pretty unlikely aswell.
@@nqh4393 True true, it is the old English name for China.
I will always follow Cao Cao as that was a decision I made due to what I understand of him and will stick with it. I am willing to play some of these others as well as they do seem pretty neat like some of the yellow turban characters or even the bandit queen. Overall I'd say I'd be fine joining any of them except Liu Bei, but that's just some bias
Fine, liu bei doesnt need you, we all know the only warrior stronger than lu bu is guan yu
@@Wildboy789789 Zang Fei would have somthing to say about that i am sure XD
I'm going to play as Liu Bei, but a very important question is :why is it still April??? I have so much hype ,i can't wait
"Descendants of the lofty Yuan dynasty" You mean that Dynasty that took power almost 1000 years after the events of this game hmmmm interesting lol
that yuan (family last name) and the other yuan (mongol dynasty title) are not the same
Kinda glad that none of the streams selected Sun Jian as a character, means my first playthrough will be slightly unknown.
CA has however done a "here's his faction situation on Turn 1" video
One must give the stick before the carrot. The Dong will rise. Cruelty first. And when all bow before my rule, I shall turn to... some semblance of kindness. Too bad you can't play the Dong right away. Oh well, Emperor seat... here i come!
It is one of the first total war games where you have the whole board basically needing to ally to handled one big threat before the real game actually starts. I will play as lui bei as my first play thru, then the Ma , cao, jan, or the turbans as my second. :).
Love the detail, almost looks like with RTK 13 should have been, It would be interesting to have different campaign scenarios in future expansions, like 194, 200 and so forth.
Super looking forward to the game. Been playing Total War for years and as a big fan of the ROTK games I can't wait to play this. I don't know who I want to play first, but I know for sure i'll probably play all of them!
I'm really surprised they don't have Liu Yan as a playable faction as he pretty much conquered the entire territory that would become the kingdom of Shu. While also having a perfect decision Guanxi moment where he convinces Zhang Lu to attack the Han empire. Maybe he'll become DLC along with Zhang Lu the South needs more dominant factions to counter Sun Jian.
@CA I think it is great how close you guys worked with the community by developing the game with all its options and possibilities thru the Campaign
"The Azure sky has fallen. The Yellow Sky will soon rise!"
for obvious reasons i always liked Liu Bei the most (second place are of course the Yellow Turbans) but i desired something different for my very first try of the game so i picked the 3rd best for me: Yuan Shao and also so far i think i never loved a total war so much especially after watching the episodes of the series "Three Kingdoms 2010" and played when i was young (and still to this day) dynasty warriors,i even recognize non Legendary characters like Wen Chou,Yan Liang ,Xu You and others. all i can say is excellent work.
I just want me some Meng Huo i want my war elephants.
Cercei, it's you, I know that.
I'm at odds at who I'll want to play as first. The Sun family has always been a fav of mine at any rate.
Kong Rong does sound pretty fun, though. I always get a kick out of the trade aspect of TW games.
I'm honestly really looking forward to a hardest difficulty play-through of Liu Bei but role playing as Liu Bei, that means only doing what is honorable right, which is going to be fun but difficult. Then after that doing the exact opposite with Cao Cao.
Warlords I want to try in order: Sun Jian, Ma Teng, Gongsun Zan, Liu Biao, Kong Rong. I'm not sure from there.
Sun Jain the Tight. Aggression.
Lu Bu-Fire and Blood.
easy first is Liu Bei with Zhuge Liang "Those who are skilled in combat do not become angered, those who are skilled at winning do not become afraid. Thus the wise win before they fight, while the ignorant fight to win."
I have no idea ..... but I’m looking forward to it ! Even though it says it’s hard the bandit chick with 2 axes looks epic
"I'd rather betray the world than the world to betray me. Take the opportunity and build my own destiny" cao cao
>Most ambitious total war to date
WOOOW this looks so coool!
>Goes back to playing Medieval 2
sorry, not sorry
Experience on the Date campaign from Shogun 2 has taught me one thing:
Diplomacy is for the weak. Just steam roll everyone and anyone on your path.
Hmm... I can either be Cao Cao the puppet master... or Kong Rong the ultimate troll... I think I know which answer is obvious!
Cao Cao I suppose 😂
I'll play this game for decades!
Cao cao then liu Bei then sunjian or sun quan then back to cao cao then liu bei, it never ends. Please please cherish this game CA with all of its glory. A pretty sword is nothing but a dull one if left unpolished.
You guys did the rigth thing to move the game to may, that was the best decision you ever did.
No matter who we choose, game's quality is the most important.therefore, please make sure it's a fantastic game!
That was one reason they pushed it back two months. They did a live stream and the next one they announced a two month push back to keep working on the game
Zheng yan, my kingdom will be free against the corrupition of the han dynasty.
I hate to be that guy but...
Yuan Shu and Yuan Shao are not descendants of the Yuan dynasty. Their family is famous and prestigious at this point in time, yes... but the word dynasty implies an imperial lineage. The Yuan dynasty proper came 1000 years later and came about through the totally unrelated Mongols. If I recall, the Yuans were among the myriad of ancient families and lineages who were snuffed out during this time period.
The Mandate of Heaven is mine!!!
Liu Bei
I'm a huge sucker for altruistic good guys, so gotta go with Liu Bei as my first playthrough.
Cao Cao was actually more altruistic. Liu Bei was forever scheming and betraying anyone.
Yeah, Sadly Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhange Fei are more like bullies. Not really the heroes everyone makes them out to be.
@@DynastyUK If I were to guess why Romance was rewritten in the 17th century it would be because Cao Cao made a lot of Mandarins look bad. As in, like the Confucian court ideologues, Cao Cao was first and foremost a Mandarin - an educated, well born, man of letters, learning and administration. But he was also a very capable general. This made the Mandarins prejudice against the profession of arms look utterly silly because Cao Cao was proof that soldiers and generals need not be brutes. But that would undermine them, and understandably they were wary of giving military men any ideas - but even so.
That all may be so, but at least in this game Liu Bei is portrayed as the good guy, so that's how I'm gonna play him.
@@DynastyUK Cao Cao strikes me as a man who - sure wanted to be the strongman and power behind the throne - but he wanted to strengthen the Han Dynasty and preserve it. He was first and foremost a civil servant so he prized institutional continuity, following the law, rules matter and so on.
liu bei all the way.
and this time benevolence WILL unite china....well,earlier than it did today at least.
Ah, nothing more benevolent than tossing babies and eating other man's wives :D
Nah sun jian the tiger will rule

it is said that Yuan Shao has achieved Immortality. for he has vassalized the very heavens themself
Is it just me that's hearing him say Yuaren Shao instead of Yuan Shao?
It's quite difficult for British people to get Yuan pronunciation correct
The narrator in game says it as well
It's that silly English accent that has to put an "r" sound inbetween vowels, haha
Definitely Sun Jian for my first campaign! The Han Empire will fall and the Sun Empire will rise! \o/
In that case, it is likely to be Wu Empire...Chinese rulers don't name their dynasties with their family names...
Hope that is the finish color for the campaign map. Looks awesome and bright !
Among settings, Extreme. Among players, Sushi. My body is ready for this game, I think Liu Bei or Cao Cao will be my starts, although the bandits do seem interesting.
Is the Sima faction, later the founder of Jin dynasty, going to be playable? Also, is it like the RotK that you get to chose the time and scenarios?
I would like CA to actually add more campaign stories like when The Three Kingdoms actually born, the Simas slowly consolidating power in Wei, and much more. But please make it a Free additional content or at least make it cheaper. Cuz, i liked many scenarios on DW8: Empires but they putted a quite significant paywall in front of it.
@@yudhistira9453 Agree. The magic and brilliancy of the period is not only the early chaotic fights between warlords, but also the later stalemates between three kingdoms
Cao Cao my man the new Empire!
Probably start with the irresistible political hunk that is Cao Cao because I loved him in Dynastay Warriors but give Zheng Jiang/Zheng Yan a go afterwards. Those hard starts make it all the more rewarding and fun for me personally.
Cao Cao! Because his origin connected with Xianbei-Xiongnu :) Chinese guys must accept it. North, Wei, more powerful then other 2 kingdoms because steppes were there!
I wonder if it will be possible to recreate Liu Bei's exile and pursuit by Cao Cao before finally setting up the lands of Shu in the southwest. If we could get to recreate the historical Three Kingdoms territories and story, it would be a very fun storyline.
I'm debating between Yuan Shao, Cao Cao, Gongzun San and one of the members of the Liu clan for my first playthrough. Can somebody help decide? 🤔
Gongzun San. Seems cooler 😎
Liu Bei is very easy.
Yellow turban FTW
Implying there is any choice other than Cao Cao.
This game reminds me of Romance of the three kingdom by koei tecmo
i'm at 1972 turns, i'm tired, i want to start a new campaign, BUT i ... i cant abandoned my people, i must continue...
- Liu Bei
Gonna be playing as Kong Rong!
Cao Cao in the novel, old Anime and real history is a true ruler.most of great rulers thought history were like him.Peter the great, Darius the Great, Avgustus or Toyotomi Hideyoshi...he is the true protagonist and playing as him be very satisfying...Die Scums, For the Emperor Aaaaaa...(can you consider build a DLC like fall of Samurai for the game? maybe? i will looking forward to it)
Yuan Shao and Yuan Shu are not descents of the Yuan Dynasty, which happened hundreds of years later and are Mongolians
Just me that sat there years ago playing Rome total war and dynasty warriors wishing I could combine the two?
Nope. It's been a dream of mine since I was 12
All I can say is: “DO NOT PURSUE LU BU”
Even if Dhong Zuo wins, I don't think his empire would last long
I believe I will try Kong Rong first, I've always enjoyed manipulation, and with his blue tech specialisation, it'll be fun to play around with the spy mechanics!
Gongsun Zan will be my first playthrough to learn the game, then Sun Jian because the Sun family are the most interesting to me. Hopefully after those two, I will know the mechanics well enough to be successful with the Bandit Queen Zheng Jiang. Ma Teng, Kong Rong. Luis Bei, and Yuan Shao are possible future playthroughs for me.
There can be only One..
I cant wait to see Dong Zhuo in a duel
"who will you choose to unite China?" none of them!
Hope a dlc campaign start position can have lubu controlling cao cao city pu yang with his fellow officers Zhang lio, gao shun and strategist Chen gong
Gongsun Zan - because somebody should
By the Mandate of Heaven, Cao Cao !
It should be obvious
Well, time to pursue Lu Bu.
Will be the most amaxing total war yet if the AI isn't stupid.
Im not saying it must be insanely amazing, it just can't be stupid.
It's best to deal with the Dong immediately, or else you'll end up with Wang issues. Unless you want to see a world Kong Wrong.
Holy god, names are so tough.
The Sun dynasty will last the ages!
srsly, am i the only one thinks that every warlord looks like pretty legit chinese people, while only dong zhuo just feel like coming straight out from dynasty warriors?
I want to see gameplay from either of the bandit warlords. You guys know you want to give us viewers a tease
I will rule ancient China with the sword and the spear and the iron fist of my warriors!
I always loved Liu Yan/Zhang. Disappointed that Neither are playable. Perhaps just wait a year or two when the rest of the warlords who were there during the yellow turban rebellion are playable.
By The Yellow turban :)
I 'll try Sun Jian first , I can't wait to play it thank you Total War the campaign map looks gorgeous !!
Im going to kill off Dong Zhuo, and Rule with an iron fist as the Mighty Lu Bu
Planning to start as Liu Bei or Kong Rong. I want to see a custom battle with Liu Bei dueling Cao Cao, Guan Yu dueling Xiahou Dun, and Zhang Fei dueling Xiahou Yuan
I'm still waiting and praying for the Nanman announcement.
Liu Bei starts with 3 legendary characters, i will rush Kong Rong, befriend Gongsun Zan and Cao Cao and then i will see what to do with Yuan Shao.
And Sun Jian?
