The 1958, '59 and '60 Lincolns were pretty grotesque, and I say that as a huge admirer of '50s cars. This style, which followed, is amazingly beautiful and clean. From one extreme to the other.
My dad had a 1962 Lincoln Continental in Sultana White with Parchment leather interior. It was so classy, beautiful and elegant it made be feel special riding in it. That's when the Lincoln star on the hood really meant something!
I know this man is a perfectionist... How he is pin pointing everything........ And I know it's not him being sarcastic...... But how rare is it to have that kind of car in that condition..... Very rare!!!! It's like knowing a 60 year old individual and pointing out the individuals wrinkles.
I drove one like this around New Orleans back in the early 1970's as a young guy. It belonged to my Aunt & Uncle who moved back down south after living in Chicago. We flew up and U-Hauled them on down. What a story on that whole scene.
Curved side window glass!! Love it!! In later years, they used straight window side glass which was cheaper and was really tacky on a luxury car this expensive.
My dad had a convertible one and on top of the back seats, there was a metal emblem of the Lincoln star. I remember vividly because my hair would always get stuck in it!
My grandfather and an aunt had these Lincoln’s in the 60’s. They we beautiful, special cars then. I never knew the difference between Cadillac, Lincoln, Imperial, but I always felt special riding in those Lincoln’s because of the rear doors. Loved opening and closing them. My grandfather went on to owning a new Mark every year, starting with the III. The Mark series, in my opinion wasn’t was nice as the Continental, but I did like the spare tire bulge in the trunk. When he drove my cousins and I anywhere, he’d let us play with any button, except the trunk release. When he retired from Ford, he had a fully loaded 1976 Thunderbird, all green. That was beautiful too, but nothing can compare to the beautiful early 60’s Continental.
I am fortunate enough to own one of these. I am restoring it myself. All the mechanical work is basically done except the AC and windows. Windows work but switches are shot. Decided I would get all of those done at the same time. The car seat in mine is not working either. I think it is stuck. I can hear it trying to work. Mine has rusted quarter panels but I decided to restore them rather than replace them. I want the car to look straight with original panels. Also, my original engine and transmission have been rebuilt. I went with an electric fuel pump also. I would encourage anyone who has this particular car to get the ORIGINAL FUEL PUMP not the after-market one, or you will have trouble with this car. They call this vapor lock in the fuel lines. You will be kicking yourself trying to figure this out. No one talks about it because no one is around who still knows these cars.
Got mine when it was 10 years old with 64,000 miles: one owner-----it was gun metal grey with black leather seats and brushed aluminum door and glove box accents. I sure miss following that beautiful star down the road....
Owned a 1963 like this in the late 80s. It was burgundy with original mauve two tone leather interior. The engine was so quiet. It had a better turning radius than the 64 model. Was a real head turner.
I'm a Chevy guy, but damn, Ford made some beautiful rides, these ones being one of my favorites. Not to mention the American nostalgia of the '63 Continental (presidential history).
Nice car! That device on the dash (autotronic eye is what GM called it) controls the high beam low beam adjustment when on. It senses an approaching car and switches to low beam. It's also quite amusing to approach a flashing light when on at night!
Gorgeous Lincoln Continental, love it, always have, since I was a kid. JUst read that they made 31,233 of these in 1963. They did the Suicide because through 1963 it was sitting on a 123 Wheelbase and they decided it would be easier to get in the back seat with these doors, which makes the car, always did
This is my absolute dream car. I love how regal the design is. And besides not having fuel injection and decent gas mileage, it has more amenities than my current car with WAY more style. One day I will have one.
FYI the reason it has an electric fuel pump as well as the mechanical one under the hood is due to a design flaw. I had one of these back in the day. The design flaw was positioning the mechanical fuel pump up front behind the radiator. It would get too hot and cause a vapor lock. The result was if you drove the car on a hot day, shut it off for a few minutes, it wouldn't start again until it cooled off. The "fix", done after market, was to add the electric fuel pump. Another interesting feature was the power door locks which were operated pneumatically. That large "tank" under the front left fender is actually a vacuum reservoir. This allowed the door locks to operate with the engine shut off. Mine was midnight blue metallic with a maroon interior. A truly beautiful car that literally "oozes" down the street.
I am replacing my vacuum lines now. I have a 63' Lincoln. Where can I get actuators if these are bad? My electrical doesn't seem to be messed with. I am getting exhaust coming from the oil filler tube. There is an oil exhaust connection at the top rear of the intake. It was closed off by my mechanic. I believe it is supposed to connect from the back of the intake to the front of the carburetor or back into the intake port.
Beautiful classic Lincoln! Is a body style I remember well from my childhood. Always wanted to own one but never been fortunate to find a nice one and at a price that is within reason. What was the asking price on this beauty? Amazingly rust free. It appears many of the options work well and some options needed attention but not unusual for a car of this age. Really enjoyed this video. Truly a VERY classy automobile. Maybe someday you will have another one to sell? Have a Happy New Year!
Yah but over all a very nice original type car, could reverse some of the stuff obviously, but at least someone has not put some 22" Hooptie wheels on it. lol.
If you turn the ignition on the automatic trunk release might work Ford made it where the ignition had to be on in order for the trunk to release in case someone broke into the car they couldn't get into the trunk by releasing it from the glove box
you cant improve on great. this car is a jaw dropper and always will be.hey lincoln division, get the old dies out and start producing this design again. It beats the jellybean car look today
That thong on the dash is a dimmer for your brights. Supposed to dim your high beams when another vehicle is approaching. Well, it was for that on my friend's '64 Lincoln.
I had a 1961 Lincoln Continental that I bought in 1968 for $800. It had white interior seats with black fabric but otherwise the exterior looked pretty identical to this car.
Ma már lehetetlen ilyen autókat csinálni! Ebben megvan hogy mi miért olyan amilyen! Ennek ellenére hóditóan gyönyörű! Talán még egy fülkeválasztó üveg beleférne!
Oldsmobile had a similar piece on dash. For Olds, it was an "electric eye" that would dim headlights when approaching another vehicle. Likely, same for Lincoln.
You probably could take some silicone and wipe that antenna and it probably start operating alright that speed deal you was talking about as a speed alert when you go over the speed alert you how fast you are going you can set it to how fast you wanted to go how fast you want to go
Think of Goldfinger James Bond movie, it was brushed metal everything was much more quality than what we have today even what the high technology it just felt better
To be period correct the whitewalls should have been the narrower ones. Car manufacturers put the last wide whitewalls on their new models in the 1961 model year.
I’m so sorry. I never saw your response. Glad to see we’re both so incredibly responsive. I did pick it up and it has been a slow going passion product since.

I reminds me of thekennedy lincolns .I just love the 60s lincolns...with the 430 engine..they are very classic ..sorry a new car will nevr compare...I had a 67 mint condition rare aqua color,,,,,,,,,,,,,wish I never sold it want to find 63 or 67 Lincoln then drive to the dealership and say this is a real Lincoln ...not a rebadge ford edge or exhibition..or a rebadged fusion...............new cars are plastic junk...
Hey glad I can be a Teacher, LOL. I almost got kicked out of school when I was a kid, because I never learned anything, but we both know what V is for, lol.
Beautiful car. But my liberal Dad said years ago, "We're here to make money, check your politics at the door, UNLESS you can afford to offend someone."
The 1958, '59 and '60 Lincolns were pretty grotesque, and I say that as a huge admirer of '50s cars. This style, which followed, is amazingly beautiful and clean. From one extreme to the other.
I love them, but I just picked up a 1958 Caddilac Coupe deville, and I am totally in love with it!!
Agree! The mid 50's Lincolns were quite nice but in that three year stretch you allude to, Lincolns were anything but stylish/attractive.

Love the story thanks for sharing!!!
Curved side window glass!! Love it!! In later years, they used straight window side glass which was cheaper and was really tacky on a luxury car this expensive.
THIS CAR IS SO BEAUTIFUL IT MAKES ME WEEP.
right, i got a kidney, does anybody have one of these and need a kidney.... jeeeesush... I would put a million miles on something like that.
Hey, sorry missed your comment, I been weeping for over a year since it has been GONE!!! Now it is in Sunny San Diego.
Yeh, Totally, it was so fun to drive, and to look at!!!!!
63' is so very "Thunderbirdy", I love it.
The last year of the "short" wheelbase Lincolns.
This beauty will never go out of style. I would take this over a new Lincoln suv.
My dad had a convertible one and on top of the back seats, there was a metal emblem of the Lincoln star. I remember vividly because my hair would always get stuck in it!
Yeah a vert would be so so cool. Glad I am bald, wouldn't have that problem, lol
My grandfather and an aunt had these Lincoln’s in the 60’s. They we beautiful, special cars then. you can't improve perfection. Whoever designed it was right on the money. I would take this over a new Lincoln.
Totally, these were totally awesome cars, yeah a new Lincoln not even close!
HEHE
I am fortunate enough to own one of these. I am restoring it myself. All the mechanical work is basically done except the AC and windows. Windows work but switches are shot. Absolutely gorgous!. This is what a "New" Lincoln should look like.
Every time I see this car the theme to Goldfinger plays in my head.
I just went and listed to that, totally!!!
Owned a 1963 like this in the late 80s. It was burgundy with original mauve two tone leather interior. The engine was so quiet. It had a better turning radius than the 64 model. Was a real head turner.
Gorgeous car. Amazing reflection off of it when pointing out very minor chips and scratches
One of my alltime favorite cars.
MINE as well, glad someone else loved it
I'm a Chevy guy, but damn, Ford made some beautiful rides, these ones being one of my favorites. Not to mention the American nostalgia of the '63 Continental (presidential history).
1963 Continental my favorite year. Dad had the 63 ragtop Continental growing up. How I wish I had that car today.
Yeah that sounds like a neat one!
Very, very beautiful Lincoln. Man you are so lucky in america with all those big old muscle cars and limousines.
Hey, thank you for your comment over a year ago, totally missed it, surprised I ever graduated high school. lol.
Excellent vehicle! I am watching this for the first time today from Pasco, WA. Would have been great to see it down here in it's heyday.
Nice car! That device on the dash (autotronic eye is what GM called it) controls the high beam low beam adjustment when on. It senses an approaching car and switches to low beam. It's also quite amusing to approach a flashing light when on at night!
Yeah, these are really neat, today we don't even thing about it.

You're gonna drive me to drinkn' with that hot rod Lincoln.
Hopefully you sobered up by now, lol. Its only been a year, thanks for the comment. LOL
Best Lincoln ever made!

Haha, yeah your are totally right!
This is my absolute dream car. I love how regal the design is. And besides not having fuel injection and decent gas mileage, it has more amenities than my current car with WAY more style. One day I will have one.

Simply beautiful!
I totally agree, sad I sold it!!! BOOOWHOOO DENWERKS!!
Beautiful and timeless!
You're absolutely right!
beautiful car! i wish to see one in person :( i love these kind of cars...
SonnyLT if you think that's rare, 33,000 or so we're made, my grandfather has a convertible version of this and in 64 they only made 1500 or so
Oh yah in person this car was beautiful!!!
My goal is to own one of these before the end of the year. Preferably the soft top, but the hardtop will work as well.
Made in America !!

Hey thanks for your message, and information, good to know this info. Sorry for the late reply just say the message, one year later, lol.

How is your project going, I just saw your comment from 9 months ago.
Congratulations she's a beautiful car!!! Looking at your car a appreciate my triple black town car more and more!!
Godfather of Harlem brought me here. I want this car so bad
The knob on dash is highbeam changer like in some old Caddys also had!
what a beautiful car
It was better in Person, glad you liked it
the most beautiful automobile ever made
I would have to agree with you!!!!
I am replacing my vacuum lines now. I have a 63' Lincoln. Where can I get actuators if these are bad? My electrical doesn't seem to be messed with. You have to have the key turned over for the trunk to work in the 1960 -65 Fords
Beautiful classic Lincoln! Is a body style I remember well from my childhood. Always wanted to own one but never been fortunate to find a nice one and at a price that is within reason. That is truly a beautiful car.
hey hey, I agree totally
Beautiful. Keep it original, do not customize it. Classic cars always look better when they are original.
There's so much unoriginal under the hood! Fuel pump, horns, hoses, washer bag, radiator cap to name a few. Also has unoriginal trunk kit.
Hey, thanks for the comment, yep keep this thing original, TOTALLY
Yah but over all a very nice original type car, could reverse some of the stuff obviously, but at least someone has not put some 22" Hooptie wheels on it. lol.
It's beautiful
love it!
LOVE IT LOVE IT, wish I never sold it!!
If you turn the ignition on the automatic trunk release might work Ford made it where the ignition had to be on in order for the trunk to release in case someone broke into the car they couldn't get into the trunk by releasing it from the glove box
The release works with a solenoid then ? Interesting.
Awesome totally good to know that, thanks so much for letting me know, there is a lot to learn in this life, about these old classics
Work of art. 🤗
Thanks for checking it out!
The 1960's Lincolns were the most beautiful cars Ford ever produced!
That car is a tuxedo. I should buy one, I used to love Lincolns
Fantastic car
Yeah this thing was totally fantastic I agree
My dream car !!!!!
Save your pennies. A lot of pennies and have it inspected extensively for rust. Unibody construction no frame so rust can be structurally disastrous!
all time favourite
Hey, sorry for the late reply, yeah this one one beautiful car, one of my favorites I have owned.
tuve uno 1963 aqui en CARACAS VENEZUELA EL MEJOR AUTO QUE TUVE ELEGANTE PODER ESTABLE QUE BELLO VEHICULO EN 1975 HASTA 1977
This car is from a time when men wore suits woman wore dresses .please and thank you was part of our vocabulary.very classy
My respect to you, that you appreciate the respectful vocabulary, that is much needed, but still forgotten.... Sadly!!!!!!
you cant improve on great. this car is a jaw dropper and always will be.hey lincoln division, get the old dies out and start producing this design again. It beats the jellybean car look today
I agree, X2nnn 😜💥👊
That thong on the dash is a dimmer for your brights. Supposed to dim your high beams when another vehicle is approaching.
Well, it was for that on my friend's '64 Lincoln.
I drove one in the 70s it's a boat and a half it was my friend's mom she she traded it for like a 1970 Delta 88 and it too was a boat
Also great in dark blue
So many people say "hubcaps" ...
These are wheel covers as full
wheel is not visible.
Great 1963 Lincoln Continental.
Yeah you are totally right, a hub cab is basically a dust cap!
I had a 1961 Lincoln Continental that I bought in 1968 for $800. It had white interior seats with black fabric but otherwise the exterior looked pretty identical to this car.
*охуенный Линкольн!* 👍💪
красавчик!
Say ummm one more tucking time !!!! 😂😂😂🤦🏻♂️🤣
Ma már lehetetlen ilyen autókat csinálni! Ebben megvan hogy mi miért olyan amilyen! Ennek ellenére hóditóan gyönyörű! Talán még egy fülkeválasztó üveg beleférne!
What did this one sell for??
Sold for 25K. Thanks for your comment
Fully restored they could go between 40-60k
Whats that on top of the dash
Oldsmobile had a similar piece on dash.
For Olds, it was an "electric eye" that would
dim headlights when approaching another vehicle.
Likely, same for Lincoln.
helicopter269, automatic high beam dimmer.
Its one of those Stop light eyes
You probably could take some silicone and wipe that antenna and it probably start operating alright that speed deal you was talking about as a speed alert when you go over the speed alert you how fast you are going you can set it to how fast you wanted to go how fast you want to go
nice!
Hey Hey, yeah she is nice
Think of Goldfinger James Bond movie, it was brushed metal everything was much more quality than what we have today even what the high technology it just felt better
Do you know anyone who can do left to right hand drive conversions??
Hey, I really don't know about that, but doesn't seem like it would be to hard to do.
Im here because of the movie kalifornia
if if was sold in that design today there would be a line to buy it!!! not kidding. timless design for big luxury sedan
So classy and beautiful and those cool "suicide" doors. The best!
Back when Lincoln knew design restraint was the height of style. Hoping the Cadillac Escala upholds the tradition.
I don't think the anything will compare to these cars!!!
To be period correct the whitewalls should have been the narrower ones. Car manufacturers put the last wide whitewalls on their new models in the 1961 model year.
Yeah your right, the car had the wide whites on it when I got it, and I wasn't going to take those babies off!!!
Like driving city block down the road
Yah totally, I drove this a lot and it was a big machine, I just got a 1958 Caddy, and it is even bigger!!!
Is this Lincoln still for sale???
Sorry she is gone, but I got a 1958 Caddy, sweet car, 2dr Coupe Deville, talk about a boat!! In a good way!
Did the car sell yet? If so what'd it fetch? I go pick up my '63 in about a month! Cannot wait! I've been searching for this car for 10 years.
She sold for 25K, this was a year ago, didn't see your message. Did you get your 63?
@@blueovalranch 25k that was it?
You lucky dog. The 63 is so sweet.
I’m so sorry. I never saw your response. Glad to see we’re both so incredibly responsive. I did pick it up and it has been a slow going passion product since.
The radar detector is "auto dimming"
A model of what a good youtube video should be.
Hey thanks for the compliments!
Im in tri cities right now😁
I'm so confused a veneer is a very thin sheet of real would usually glued to a piece of plastic or a cheaper piece of wood so I don't understand the statement it's not veneer it's real wood veneer is real wood lbvs
That is the reason I watch the Matrix movie! Lincoln!
Then you should also see the movie 'in time ',,with justin Timberlake. Regards.
AC, electric windows, electric seats.. My 1996 car doesn't even have that
My friends 2015 Fiat Punto doesn't have that don't worry, my 2016 Clio only has AC and front electric windows.
HAHA, totally yeah in an old car of this vintage, this was a big deal!!!
What ever happen to your 67, you didn't trade it in for a pinto in the 70's did you, lol.
I owned a 64 in deep purple with black interior which I sold in 1976 for $300.00.
God, I wish I coulda got it for even 3,000.00 haha
williamabeck46 I might be getting one next weekend to match my grandpas 64 continental convertible

We learn something everyday!!!
Hey glad I can be a Teacher, LOL. I almost got kicked out of school when I was a kid, because I never learned anything, but we both know what V is for, lol.
V for vendetta 👌 lol
I loved everything except the stupid tires.
Only a guy who just smoked knows you reversed your description of the signal light direction.
Automatic high beam dimmer on top of the dashboard.
💥👊😜
I rode in one when I was a boy to a girls birthday party
First one I ever saw was in a Junk yard in the 80’s what an amazing car!!!
Be nice to have rear window louvers!
I used to hate those, but now they are the new cool in rear windows, love them, how taste changes thorugh the years.
Lol im from tri cities🎉
The Matrix car
Yeah your right! Never thought about that!!!
4 mufflers, really?
JFK's car
Beautiful car. But my liberal Dad said years ago, "We're here to make money, check your politics at the door, UNLESS you can afford to offend someone."
Shit man! Its a fuckin boat! you gotta expect a few waves! lol!
Michael Cuff, Lincoln downsized for 1961, and got a little larger from 1964 through '69! Imperial and Cadillac were still large in these years.
haha, yeah I am 47 years old, that is the same thing I tell me wife, I got to get back to the gym, been saying that for 27 years lol.
