    Nice repair and neatly done Bobby. A .30 cent part, explain to the customer what you did and a reasonable price and you have a customer for life. Regards, Dave

    I am interested in more of this type of work. Very impressive my friend. I self taught myself everything I know. Everything in computers also. I left the mainstream of the chats. Since my stroke and heart surgery I seem to just not get things to stick into my brain. I am not going chasing people to be in my interest group. I go more for finding things that interest and entertain me. I really am not a follower always been a leader type of person. I have learned a long time ago to walk alone. You are too fun on this about the fingers. HE! HE!

    A pro at work, great vid, less than 1/2 hour, you could do it in ten minutes with no cam going. How much for a DVR like that new? Was the drive 500gb? I suppose that a new one with 2TB could cost over 300$. Being that's IDE, could be a lotta hours on it, perhaps five+ years old. Kewl little box, worth saving. Did you advise that he start to think of getting a newer one? Those HD's work pretty hard, constantly going. Just curious, it's all a part of the service that they get. They pay for the know how and good job, Bobby delivers! Don

    Nice . I wonder how many would pull the reg and not test the diode and wonder WTH . Is it the 30 cent diode that's not long lasting compared to the surface mount . I have lots of them and so far they seem to last so far. Hum maybe not. LOL

      just smart trouble shooting my friend. im sure someone would have yanked it out replaced it and found the same issue, just to find the problem later.

    Say Mr Fireman what hatched out of the golf ball?
    I had a problem with my washing machine and I replaced the diode two2 guess what?
    The washing machine still leaked so I hadd to replace the seal. Go figure.
    Good fix dude. I used to work for IBM, was a ce. Some of the round diodes would go and you could sometimes feel that they were bad. They would get hot and separate.
    Good diags bud. Hack job? What are you talking about? A fix is a fix.

      Your customers are paying you for what you know, not what you do.
      I did a temporary fix on a friends car. I got it started so he could get home. I tapped on his carburetor cause I knew his float was stuck. It took me 5 minutes and his car was started. I only charged him 25 bucks cause he was a friend and he even balked at that said it only took you a couple of minuted to fix. So I said okay 5 bucks to hit your carb with a hammer and 20 bucks to know where to hit it. He paid me.

      found the golf ball at a golf course of all places, decided to keep it!
      i replaced my diode with a proper surface mounted diode rated for the same value along with a brand spanking new regulator.
      so after replacing those two components along with a new harddrive. all is well!
      Thanks for watching my friend!

    what type of business is this unit going to that makes a difference in the price. .and do you think you'll have to go back and replace the temporary part you replaced?

    • @umajunkcollector
      @umajunkcollector 7 років тому +1

      that diode can stay, really no need to replace it. A diode is a diode. But for another 100$, replace the drive. who knows, that drive may last a few years?

    • @supyrow
      @supyrow  7 років тому +1

      it can perfectly stay, however the replacement parts were ordered so, they get replaced, thats what he payed for.
