Silversmith Ubaldo Vitali pours silver into the complex mold, completing the transformation from hollow wax to silver. He then burnishes and polishes the silver until it shines like Kienle's original Rearing Horse and Rider (1630) at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Old school art at its very best! Bravo!

WAIT! What happened to the plaster that you poured INSIDE the mold in the last episode???? You've skipped the most important step! It certainly didn't just disappear! And why, when you melt the wax out, does the inner plaster core not drop and come into contact with the outer mold - leaving a few spots in the final silver casting missing????

I think I’ve seen in other videos that a steel or iron pin is placed in the wax that spans both the outer mold and the plaster core and doesn’t melt at the temperatures poured.

How do you know how much silver you need to smelt for the item you're pouring ??

Hi I am Davide Servolini, an artisan from Rome, I wish to get in contact with Mr. Vitali, do anyone knows him directly or is a member of the institute or visited his laboratory? Thanks

I don't actually believe anyone would ride a horse without a saddle and without something to gird up their loins. That just sounds painful otherwise.

Ah, good old ambiguous pronoun reference I have seen a goat with a beard but not a horse. Do you have to shave a horse to make it naked or is nude just their usual state before the saddle blanket and saddle.
