Oh I remember how in first grade me and my best friend would run home from school and getting her dad's recliner. So we could be together when we were spooked out by Dark Shadows! I have some signed black and white photos of the people who were in it and a painting of Barnabas Collins as a vampire. Probably my favorite daytime show during school. :-)

I use to sit around and hear my parents and grandparents, talk about the good ole days, and I'm thinking, what's so good about wooden fire heaters, no inside toliets, cast iron cooking stoves, have to draw water out of a well every day, kerosene lamps, no telephone, we couldn't afford one, working on the farm and planting food and milking 🐄 cows and feeding chickens?? This is how I grew up. But now compared to today's society, even though things are a lot easier, I still wish I was a little girl and back on the farm, every Sunday my grandmother would cook my favorite meal after we milked the 🐄 cows and churned the butter: tomato gravy, fried chicken, rice and home made, buttermilk biscuits. I miss you Grandma 💔

Loved the show and would watch with my mom during summer vacation from school. My interest in the paranormal has stayed with me. This show was the first paranormal show... Nonfiction. The more shows I watch as an adult I realize how much ahead of its time it was. Topics like other dimensions and parallel universes. This show really makes you think and question the unknown.

Different worlds. N I don’t just mean in time periods. Having grown up in the 90s. But in that I am spiritually gifted n have always personally experienced that side of things except wasn’t exposed to shows like this as much growing up that could help me understand it as to me I guess it was normal anyway. But seeing more of these shows now. I wish I had. Esp the ones where kids are involved with their gifts isolated n alone as that is how I was as a child it woulda been a comfort to me then. Instead I hid that part of me fearing ridicule mocking further bullying. Not adding fire to the flames when I grew up fearing being locked up if anyone knew n thinking I was crazy mad for experiencing what I do knowing what I know. Until a friend made me realise I wasn’t mad or crazy or alone. Slowly but surely I began to accept n be honest with that part of me n found others who understand n don’t judge me for it. One person did try to sanction me fir it. But the psychiatrist told her some people do see spirits n are gifted. I know I’m safe with the gift. Because He protects me.

Very good ghost story! The ghost lore they put into it - that a ghost's touch is icy, that it creates a chilly breeze as it comes and goes, and that a room gets freezing cold when a ghost is inside it - show that the scriptwriters did their homework and did it well...except for John Newland's definition of a poltergeist. The word is German for "noisy ghost", the kind that slams doors, knocks on walls, makes floors creak, yanks sheets off of beds, and throws objects around. Peter Duncan's ghost is not a poltergeist because it did none of that; it was a subtle spirit who showed Nancy what her new husband really was - a cold-blooded killer. And if Colin did end up in the loony bin, mumbling his confession over and over, it's likely that Peter's haunting of Colin didn't stop at the wedding but continued on through the years until Colin finally snapped and to be put away.

Good observation except polter doesn't mean noisy in German as you claimed. Its a verb describing tumbling or knocking about, if can have a almost playful fooling about kind of connotation too. But yes the result is noise or disturbance. And indeed as you say this was no poltergeist.

The few who have touched me on the arm, shoulder, or hand, were neither overtly cold or overtly warm. Usually, they were family or friends whose touch and contact I did welcome. Once, in a funeral home to help my then wife and her family with plans for her grandmother's funeral, I had done my part and retired to the hallway to get a drink from the water fountain. Another family, apparently doing the same in a different office, had completed their task and were lined up at the water fountain. I took my place at the back of the line. As I stood there, I felt a tiny hand grab my pinky and ring finger of my left hand. The grip was definitely that of a child, but nobody was visible. I looked down to where I perceived the child to be and smiled and asked, "how are you doing". At that moment, they released their grip on my fingers. I perceived the child as a girl, but again, I could not see them. I always wonder if they were a member of the family in line ahead of me, or perhaps someone who had been previously serviced by that funeral home and chose to make it their residence.

You can't possibly say they were not good. Twilight zones was more popular. They had some really very clever mind thinking shows. Newland and Sterling actually met. BOTH were FANTASTIC shows and until this day I have not seen any show bettert than these 60s shows. Outer Limits was ok for me. They had some good shows, but I thought the first 2 I mentioned were the best. Such GREAT entertainment and they really make you think. @@kystars I very much agree with you. The thing is, I have watched SO many of them & truthfully, I know for sure there are 3 truths; personal truth, political truth & objective truth. In each of these stories, I found objective truths in them all. But I must say, my ABSOLUTE favorite, is the one about Washington, Lincoln & a few more non-public people. But, the one about General Washington, was an ABSOLUTE GEM !! I looked up all the info, & believe me, I went thru ANY & EVERY thing on the Father of our country. Did you know in that final terribly horrific winter, Washington had thought of surrendering to the british?? He asked one of his closet friends to let him have time to think of how to break it to his men. It took him quite a few hours, but when he woke up from this dream, he was having & called his men all together, he informed them that they were NOT going to surrender, because of a dream he had. or Gen Lafayette named his first son after Washington, his favorite two horses were Blueskin & Nelson. But not just stuff one can easily confirm, but stuff about this dream he had. Sorry this is so long, the thing bout that dream REALLY made me SO proud G.W. was our first president. The one about the Hawaii tsumi; he had the ACTUAL lady it happened to. Again, my apologies this is so long, .The other shows were great, but for me, OSB will ALWAYS be best.

When you think about the foul mouthed tattooed tramps that they have as leading ladies nowadays, it almost makes me want to cry.
Why did we wrench all vestiges of decency from society - in the name of "inclusiveness" and "social justice? These actors and actresses will have had private lives and were (like everyone) flawed but the elegance portrayed in these old films gave us an aspirational standard to uphold. Nowadays, the aspirational standard is how many expletives they can they come out with.

I put it to you that inclusiveness and social justice are infinitely more important than decency because they are more universal both geographically and historically. Decency is but a matter of conditioning and the poorer cousin of morality, which is itself a set of arbitrary and ephemeral diktats which change over time and from culture to culture. I suggest you consider the subject of ethics and remove the blinkers.
