Astronomers have spotted an exotic planet that seems to be made of diamond racing around a tiny star in our galactic backyard. The new planet is far denser than any other known so far and consists largely of carbon. Because it is so dense, scientists calculate the carbon must be crystalline, so a large part of this strange world will effectively be diamond. Not just that, exoplanets, or planets outside of our solar system, that contain more carbon than Earth could be made out of diamonds, according to a new study. Does that mean we can mine this precious stone? Palki Sharma tells you.

Diamonds are only consider rarer because companies have a monopoly on them there are more diamonds tham trees and they are cheap and easy available everywhere and not an asset like diamonds

I think in space there will be a single big tree size of planet somwhere which we will call universe tree. And a planet made up of entirely gold, silver , meat and what else who now the possibility out there. Maybe some day we will found a living planet somwhere.

To anyone reading my comment for a light year from now, "guys we seriously thought a 40 light year away place totally unreachable".
Its possiable mine diamonds from those exo planet in the future but then when diamonds will be abundant the diamond might loose its value on earth it will be cheaply avaliable .

So the planetary system that is 41 light years away from earth is practically in our neighbourhood, irrespective of whether we can reach it or not. And it is most definitely within our own galaxy the Milky way and not in any other galaxy that is far far away.

That's not true. Diamond also has industrial value (when for example used as drill tip) due to its density. It would not lose its value.
