Honestly, Denon keeps on releasing more and more innovative and affordable products that really outline Pioneer. And all the Pioneer fanboys are like "Wait for Pioneer's response to Denons devices". And what is Pioneers answer? A simple two-channel Recordbox controller? Proofs again that it's only a question of time until Denon has completly outlined Pioneer in the market of DJ Equipment. Better quality and more features for less money and Pioneer doesn't seem to react at all P.S. #nohate this is just my opinion

@@ianforestdj Pioneer do need to respond. I've had Pioneer gear (XDJ R1, and the RX), I use primarily Rekordbox USBs with club nexus setups and even I am disappointed they are not responding. My DJ partner has bought himself the Prime 4, earlier this year (sick of waiting) I bought the Traktor S4 MK3 - 4x channels, free DVS and timecode vinyls included. Pioneer need to move fast or they'll lose long standing customers.
This is a pleasant surprise, just a shame the jogs weren't slightly bigger, but still having the screen on them is ideal, this looks like a great competitor for other 2 channel controllers on the market, very well done Pioneer 🔥
If I had to nitpick, the only thing wrong with this unit is that it's not $699. I could probably deal with $799. But for $899, you could save a couple of hundred more and get a DDJ-1000. Or if you have turntables, get the new Phase for $399.
Pioneer Wish List: A budget two channel "battle" mixer for Rekordbox. Similar to Mixars DUO MKII, with 8 midi pads, two usb ports so I use one to plug in my DDJ-XP1. At the $699 price point.
Nathan Carrille if it’s something you do as a career you could easily pay this off with a few gigs or 1 wedding lol. It’s really not pricey at all and most online retailers will hook you up with a discount. This is business.
I can't help but feel that this release is incredibly lackluster. Not only has Pioneer recently released multiple controllers, this is basically a DDJ-1000 with much less functionality for only a little less money. As someone who has been dj-ing on an entry level controller and wanting to step up my game within the Rekordbox ecosystem I have been considering to upgrade to either XDJ players or a new (preferably standalone) controller for quite some time now. However, in my opinion, most of the options available seem outdated and are only worth their price because of Pioneer being the current club standard. Products have either no standalone functionality, small jogwheels or low fps outdated touchscreens. For a pricetag that compares to a solid gaming pc you would expect more. Even though I know that this product isn't designed to be a competitor to the Prime 4 I expected Pioneer to at least bring something new and innovative to their next controller release and bring their products to a level that is more in line with current technological standards. Instead we get a 2 channel DDJ-1000 with less functionality and smaller jogwheels for only SLIGHTLY less money. Dissapointing.
why has the 800 got the "beat loop" function as a shift function? the 400 had it as one of the main pads. I use that all the time. Now I'm gonna reconsider.
Looks nice. It's just that it's about $200 too expensive when you compare it to the DDJ-400 and DDJ-1000. It's a bit strange that Pioneer would make that mistake - they got it right with the DDJ-R series

@@markusz1853 Right now Pioneers ecosystem is superior comparing to Traktor's. The library is the one that makes one software great or not, having some dj's using dvs for more than 10 years, there is a lot of songs in ones laptop. Pioneers problem is deleting within rekordbox, you have to do it manually. And Traktors is the library itself, no smart playlists and browse options. And on the other hand, serato is having all that but missing ratings for example.

i got ddj RB and ddj RR . this is DDJ RR2 . nothing special for update. just screen. i changed all pads function with midi map. i got ddj rr but all pads from ddj 1000. but still love rekordbox. one of the best dj software
Here in france it's 900€ and in the uk it's £780. Little too much for me :/ I would have liked it to be 700€ maybe 800 because pioneer lol. Let's just mention the DJ 505 at 550€ is also a great 2chan controler and the Kontrol S4 MK3 is at 800€... Lucky for Pioneer I love their RB DJ software :P

Depends how you DJ. If you don't need any visual aid (i.e. waveforms) then a second hand XDJ R1 is the cheapest all-in-one Pioneer unit; around £300-400, has CD trays and USB input. It can control a laptop too if you wanted to use it as a controller. If you need waveforms then again a second hand XDJ RX will be around £700-800. Or if you are looking for a controller (and therefore must work with a laptop) I'd avoid this costing £800 (!!!) and get the DDJ 400 (£250).
Poor from pioneer when the prime 4 is due. A 4 channel standalone controller would have got everyone interested instead of another toy when you already have the ddj-rr the ddj400 and the xdj-rr

True words. 12 years in the Mobile DJ market, and the craziest thing I ever did was a small scratch routine on Sylvester's "You Make Me Feel" during a 70s Disco party 🙈 Seriously though, that thing doesn't come with anything new or innovative justifying its 899$ price tag. No thanks, I will continue using my Numark NV2 which has never let me down 😊👍
I fully understand these companies are trying to pack as many features in a short as possible video to capture your attention, but if I'm gonna spend $899 I'm gonna do loads of research and make sure that I'm spending wisely and getting all the features I need, and would rather watch a 30min quality review of a product by someone I respect like DJcityTV

Depends how you DJ. If you don't need any visual aid (i.e. waveforms) then a second hand XDJ R1 is the cheapest all-in-one Pioneer unit; around £300-400, has CD trays and USB input. It can control a laptop too if you wanted to use it as a controller. If you need waveforms then again a second hand XDJ RX will be around £700-800. Or if you are looking for a controller (and therefore must work with a laptop) I'd avoid this costing £800 (!!!) and get the DDJ 400 (£250).

Poor from pioneer when the prime 4 is due. A 4 channel standalone controller would have got everyone interested instead of another toy when you already have the ddj-rr the ddj400 and the xdj-rr
Yeah but how many people would rather get a ddj 800 over the prime 4 Which is a $700-$1000 between the two.
Pioneer has nothing to worry about that one controller will get some sales but nothing that puts pioneer in any risk, not for a while.
I know that we all have our own opinions but hearing this on repeat every time Pioneer release a new product is getting old.

I fully understand these companies are trying to pack as many features in a short as possible video to capture your attention, but if I'm gonna spend $899 I'm gonna do loads of research and make sure that I'm spending wisely and getting all the features I need, and would rather watch a 30min quality review of a product by someone I respect like DJcityTV
