Those Marlin safeties have confounded many hunters/shooters since the early '80s. I've been in the retail gun biz for 30+ years and in that time I've had at least a dozen guys bring in a Marlin claiming it won't fire. In most cases I'll asked if they took the safety off and almost without fail, they'll say "What safety?"
@@markcloer2274 sad part is ive been shooting this one without a hitch and never forgot about it. When my focus was on the hunt i went to muscle memory and been toting the 3030 and it dont have one so it took me a minute to register
I got me one of those newfangled Marlin lever guns back when they first came out and the first time I took it out that new safety cost me a nice buck. Second time out I forgot it again on a big boar hog. I'm probably a little slow to learn sometimes. If I ever met the lawyer responsible for that bright idea I wouldn't know whether to be mad at him or thank him for saving me the drag.
@@robcollins232 ive been target shooting it and i never forgot but soon as im dialed in on deer waiting on it to look the other way and go to muscle memory i slam forgot it
Mighty fine hunt! I killed a 9 point last year in the swamps. No canoe though. I drug him about 200 yards and like to have had a heart attack. No joke. I said to heck with this. Quartered him up and took 3 trips to get him out. Good thing it was 10 in the morning. My garbage bag busted on first trip. I got me a army surplus cotton laundry bag now. I still got a garbage bag to spread out under the next one to keep it clean.
And Country boy can survive. Come on . If you don't like the safety some use a o ring on it to keep it off. First blood for the marlin . 👍💪 Let know me your opinion on that chipmonk
I thought i had seen yr deer laying off to yr left as u was walking over looking for her lol easy to get turned around in the river bottoms especially on cloudy days it all mostly looks the same. Congrats tho good meat run.
That safety is a killer, I was in Maine one year and didn’t see a deer all week until the last hour of the last day a nice buck walked out. Threw up my 30.30 and pulled the trigger, click! Buck jetted out of there …never took the safety off. I never hunted with that gun again lol

I'm impressed with your canoe paddling skills , most nubes switch the paddle from one side of the boat to the other and fill the boat with water .

You can buy a kit and take the cross bolt safety out and put in a saddle ring . That’s what I did!
