When I was a boy, my father bought an arc welder, no big deal, but the house only had a 60 amp service. So that night, I woke up to the transformer on the pole exploding. At a factory I worked at, a 240Volt transformer room caught fire and the big transformer exploded. They had to rent a semi-trailer sized generator for a week to keep the factory running while a new one was being shipped in. Also, we had a situation happen when a squirrel decided to jump between insulators on the main substation. Poor thing was vaporized but not without causing a huge short that forced us to pull the mains off it to stop it. The lines coming in were 1440V and the arc was brighter than a welding arc.
Love the threatening hum accompanying the pole wire discharges. BTW, the Electrum Tesla Coil has a spherical top terminal. The coil shown was one of Greg Leyh's monsters but it was not his Electrum machine.

It's certainly easy to see how power lines cause wildfires in places like California and Australia. Especially when the equipment isn't maintained properly.
Like the 7 February 2009 Black Saturday bushfire that started in Saunders Road, Kilmore East, Victoria, Australia. Proper pole maintenance was not done, to save money. 173 people were killed that day.
@@Perusalstein Or the Camp Fire that virtually wiped out the towns of Concow and Paradise, California and killed 85 people in November of 2018. I remember watching the footage of the Black Saturday bushfires and being absolutely horrified.
One time my brother & I watched a lightning storm in the greater Seattle, WA area. Off in the distance we could see purple-hued lightning...and for about 20 minutes or so it struck/lit-up every 60 seconds like clockwork...😶. I never saw anything like that, before or after.
20:53 the narrator says man made and natural electricity. I was a newspaper delivery person and was taking shelter under a customer's carport when a bolt of lightning hit the tree in the front yard, splitting it in two, and the tree fell into a power line. Another bolt of lightning hit the same power line and the light show from that was staggering. Needless to say, I stayed put until the storm passed. Who cares about the delivery of the paper; I was NOT going out into that storm whatsoever.
My favourite was when the train station went haywire in Japan. It actually looks like an arc furnace in operation for steel making. I have also seen a transformer blowup in front of my house because the woodpecker was hammering on it like an idiot thinking there was bugs.😂
Glad we live in a suburb with underground power, trees are not a problem like the last suburb we lived in ….constant issues with next doors trees causing problems hitting powerlines got to be a bit scary .
Watching videos such as these, makes me think not of our human intelligence... but of how lacking we are, that we can create humungous electrical stations, yet can't protect them from the elements, much less from human error.

electrons has a minuscule energy but their quantity is phenomenal : So, approximately 9.93 × 10^20 electrons are equivalent to 9.9300000000000000000000 electrons in just ONE watt.

I'm not sure what you mean. At 28 minutes you're seeing breakers opening at a substation. IIRC, they're opened by service personnel to isolate equipment from the grid when required. They're just huge, open air switches that can tolerate the arcs when they disconnect. I think there's both electric motor powered and hand crank operated variants, or combinations of both for fail safe purposes.

When the narration makes an obvious error right at the beginning, it casts doubt on the entire video. Apparently no one bothered to "proof" the finished product. Sloppy work.
The really sad thing here is people are stupid and watch these things directly with their naked eyes not realising that the arc flash is no different to that of a welder that one uses a mask to prevent burns to their cornea
