    Appreciate your honesty in helping out other Toyota owners without being overprotective of the brand. Arguments such as which Japanese 4wd is the best and rubbishing other makes with pride only fuels one’s ego and drains wallet. It doesn’t help fellow travellers.

    Information received from a senior Toyota technician, apparently the issue is known to Toyota and caused from the EGR cooler creating moisture and corroding the injectors. This also leads to DPF issues. Apparently the issue was supposedly rectified from the August 2020 models onwards. It has been suggested that turning off the EGR via software also prevents the issue.
    Food for thought. Anyhow, keep your videos coming. Love your work. Cheers.

    I use a crd enhancer and a decarboniser additive from a company called cost effective Maintenance. I bought my 200 from the Vic rural fire service at 56,000ks and it’d clearly been filled up from Jerry cans out in the bush and I didn’t realise how loud the injectors were. I started using the crd enhancer at the start of a trip across the country and it progressively got quieter and quieter as I kept driving. It now is a different car, better economy, more linear power delivery and much quieter injectors and runs far better at 90,000ks than when I got it. The stuff is a bit $$$ but I swear by it and would recommend to anyone. Worth a mention that this is also a problem with 120-150 series prado’s and n70 Hilux when they get bad fuel, look into running additives, you won’t look back.

    I have a 2020 Troopy and have had injector? problem reoccurring with this one. It has a Safari chip plus other mods. Original problem started about six months ago while pilling a caravan in outback Qld 100thou Klms.. Limp mode on, engine check light and spanner plus anti skid light on. I have a scan gauge on so I reset the code. However it reoccurred countless times, so when I got back home Central Coast NSW. I took it to the dealer for a check up. Took about a week to get it in. Since the code wasn’t actually showing. All the computer could come up with was maybe a “running rich” issue, possibly due to the Safari chip- not a Toyota problem? Problem was intermittent for next few months, then returning back from a Qld trip (not towing) the same problem returned over 60 times in limp mode between Roma and Newcastle. This time I removed the chip, changed the air filter, and the problem remained. Took it to the dealer with the warning lights showing. First problem they couldn’t look at it for almost a month. Dropped it in with the light still showing and the diagnosed Number 3 injector at fault, and warranty repairs approved immediately. Next problem- no parts available- would be a least 3 weeks to get one in. Im still waiting for the call from the Toyota Dealer. The teck stated that there were others waiting for the parts (injectors). It is obvious that injectors are an issue-so why not have more in the warehouse. The troopy as only done 115,000o klms. NOT GOOD ENOUGH TOYOTA!!

    Very worthwhile informative video-Thanks! Just had my first injector problem on 2019VX200 - 1 month out of formal warranty and 95,000kms. Toyota have come to the party to replace one (1) injector???**?? but my 4,000km round road trips don't leave me with confidence that I wont see a reoccurrence on some or all of the remaining injectors - I guess there is a line in the sand and if it does reoccur I will have to rely on Australian Consumer law and Toyota's good will. Fingers crossed but have to say I absolutely did NOT expect such an issue at such low km's on this vehicle.
    Sorry did I mention that it will be 3 1/2 months form the fist problem, diagnosis, claim, source replacement and fit - Hopefully back on the road in my Landcruiser in October , since the problem occurred end of June and Toyota advised me NOT to drive the vehicle. Yeah everyone has a spare vehicle lying around - NOT!!

    We own the same car and had exactly the same issue. Ours had done under 60,000km.
    Toyota kept telling us there was nothing they could do without the fault light being on at the time and we had to wait for the error code to come on and drive straight to Toyota without turning the car off, otherwise the code would clear.
    We did this twice and twice they lost the data.
    To cut a long story short, they finally got the data and sent it to Toyota Australia who straight away told them to replace all 8 injectors.
    That was in June and all has been good since. Ours was injector 7 by the way.
    We believe Toyota are aware of an issue, hence why they were so quick to tell the dealership to replace them all. The dealerships however, seem to be unaware and are giving all sorts of incorrect advice.
    We just hope it was a bad batch of injectors that have since been fixed and we won't encounter the same issue in another 60k. Only time will tell.
    Happy to chat if you want more info.

    Same problem 2020 VX, 80,000k, injector fault gone into limp mode on the Nullarbor and was towed to the nearest Toyota dealer in Exmouth. Due to no injectors being available in Australia, RACV bought car and caravan home to Melbourne on a truck. Diagnosed at Exmouth Toyota who were so helpful and thorough (they also had another cruiser sitting there for 4 weeks with the same problem), it is now with Paterson Cheney in Keysborough as we purchased the car from them. and they claim not to be unable to get the fault to come up and won’t take the word of Exmouth Toyota who diagnosed the problem. A week so far and looks like they are going to give it back to us with nothing done. We travel remote and have lost confidence in the cruiser and Toyota. This is our 4th 200 series, all from new and never had a problem with any of them till now. Hugely disappointed with Toyota and the service we have received from them so far. Any advice greatly appreciated!

    I have a 2017 Landcruiser 200 series. Toyota has just accepted a claim as it was out of warranty.80000 km .Dealership took photos of the intake , exhaust system plus any mods on the vehicle and submitted the claim. Toyota will replace all injectors the DPF and EGR systems under old warranty ,waiting for the parts. First thing they asked was does the vehicle have a catch can, extra fuel filter, I believe not having those mods saved me as they accepted the claim.They did not admit to the problem with the system, said it was only with the early Hilux models.

They said they will do an investigation then all of a sudden they changed to good guys. If they could have found anything to suggest we were at fault, they would have used it against us. Oh what a feeling ay! You couldn't pay me to own a 200series.
    For the crazy price of these injectors I'd be expecting them to last more than 200k klms. Many are quick to blame dirty fuel ect, it's such BS! This is what the filters are for and you even have secondary filtration.
    I have no idea why Toyota cannot get it right with their common rail injection systems? They seem to have had issues across all their common rail shitbox diesels. Meanwhile, my 18year old 100series 1hd-fte still on its original pump and injectors with over 280k kms and not one fault code in its entire life. RACQ scanned it that night on the side of the highway as faulty injector number 5. Same code each time it has happened since then. Had it and the van towed to John Madill Toyota at Gympie. Service Manager told me that they have done dozens of warranty replacements of injectors in this model LC 200 and that this is a known issue. I am awaiting approval of my warranty claim as we speak. I am waiting for RACQ to come and wipe the codes AGAIN while I am writing this. I might add that any vehicle mods, even an oil catch can, Toyota will deny the claim. I’ll bet my left nut it won’t be done this side of Christmas so I am buying a scan tool tomorrow or I won’t be having a Christmas holiday this year. $129 at Supercheap if any readers are in the same boat. The lesson I think is , diesel is not what it used to be , with the cost of diesel now and the repair costs stacking up , and considering what you pay to buy a landcruzier, I’m glad I bought the petrol cruiser, as I can fix most things my self at a way lower cost for parts , than diesel parts and mechanics costs , and remember that Europe has band diesel vehicles to the public, and Australia is part of the Paris climate accord, it’s only a matter of time before the band will come to Australia, keep this in mind in the future, and I know the viewers will say it won’t happen here but , remember John Howard said there would not be a GST introduces in Australia but not 6 months later they put it in place , just saying is all .

      First of all, diesel is the same as it always was, it’s the common rail fuel systems of today that can’t handle it. Also it’s banned, not band.

    • @richardlang8083
      @richardlang8083 2 роки тому +1

      @@frankz5864 diesel is not the same as it all ways was, it has a higher Sulfur content than the 90s diesel did plus the the fuel injection pumps of today run at about 45000 psi , nothing to do with the common rail system , oh no the spelling 🙄

    • @frankz5864
      @frankz5864 2 роки тому +1

      @@richardlang8083 Pre 2009 yes but Since 2009 it’s been mandatory in Australia to run ultra low sulphur diesel from 10-50ppm. The downside of that is that the fuel has less lubricity and that’s why it’s hard on injectors and also why everyone with any diesel should run an additive to drastically prolong injector life particularly those with common rail diesels. Regularly change fuel filters with only oem ones is also very important.

    • @frankz5864
      @frankz5864 2 роки тому +1

      @@richardlang8083 also the pressure of fuel at the rail has no bearing on anything, it’s the micro size of the common rail injector nozzle that gets clogged with crap from the inside and covered in carbon on the outside of the tip that turns the fuel from a mist into a jet which causes hot spots on the piston and causes damage. Running additives with high detergent levels keeps them clean and also lubricates them. Decarboniser additives keep the nozzles clean on the combustion chamber side.

    Even if the LandCruiser is out of warranty at 70000km odd, Australian Consumer Law would cover the repair (Fitness for purpose and low kms).

    I just had my 2017 200 (54000km) start playing up. Surprise surprise its a injector failure! Now waiting for the Toyota dealer to check it out. Pretty average considering the kms! Just hoping I don't get dicked around by Toyota and they just sort it out. I have been waiting on a new 300 for over 12mths but definitely having second thoughts now.

    Sell it and get a jeep mate… much more reliable. 👌
    Na in all seriousness… these Tojos have a bad rep for injectors. If there was water in the fuel, the water separator should detect it, giving obvious warnings. It’s not fuel. Considering you had… how many tanks of fuel over that period? It’s shit injectors. Big warranty issue.

    Sorry your trip was ruined. People buy these vehicles for their so called reliability, they are expensive to start off with and then you spend a lot to make them capable for touring it is quite an investment and to have them fail over and over with similar issues is very disappointing.
