As a combat veteran, I deeply appreciate the hard work and commitment from everyone involved in the making of Band of Brothers to accurately portray this valorous unit. It shows and always will.
The pre-training and bonding of the actors did much to convey that they were behaving as Soldiers on screen and giving so much credibility to the acting.
When i first watched the series all the way through i had laughed, cried and felt every emotion..cannot imagine what the real Band of Brothers went through..they are all dead and gone now..unitedf once again as a Band of Angels..thx for this video..
All that work paid off too. I've watched the thing probably 80 times or more. I never met any men of Easy company, but when it was over, I felt like I knew them all, and they were my friends. I'm so glad some of the men got to see this before passing.
BAND OF BROTHERS, A monumental achievement. The actors put their heart and Soul into bringing the series to life, in a way where the characters portrayed were the bedrock for the success of the series. The dedication of all concerned, to represent Soldiers in combat, the realism, physical and mental, in a way that is free of the usual Hollwood style, focusing more on the believable characters, their weakness and strengths. The quality of the series will forever set the benchmark on any drama series dealing with war.
Absolutely Rusty. I don’t think any military series has come close before or since BoB. Even The Pacific (which is very good!) didn’t really hit in the same way, probably because it followed multiple units/locations
I have always been impressed by the quality of the series. My father was a 2nd battalion ranger who assaulted point du hoc. The airborne troops were equally impressive in my opinion . I appreciate how seriously the actors were about their roles.
@thehistoryexplorer Yes, my father's story is a harrowing one. He was severely wounded, captured, and left to die by the Germans near a tunnel. He was used as bait in an attempt to capture any American soldiers who might come to his rescue. He survived his injuries and returned to his unit in time for the Brest campaign. He was quite a man, and I deeply regret that he didn't live long enough for me to know him as an adult.
The sense of honor, pride, and band of brothers were formed through only couple of days of training. Imagine how much pride and bond those WWII 101 Airborne paratroopers who dedicated themselves to the nation they'd have. The greatest generation ever!
I can only imagine how the roles these actors played affected them emotionally, and mentally. What a profound privilege it must have been to portray the soldiers of Easy Company. Bless you guys.
As we are on "the other side" as a living history group we salute the actors for their work to portray one of the greatest moments in human history to such a convincing level! The series still stands, and will remain so, as a testament to the cheer willpower of a generation to free the world of pure evil! We salute you!
No matter what mission or engagement I saw, or when I saw it, I was always reminded that these actors represented real warriors and the feats of those warriors must never be forgotten because we owe them so much. Those guys were America's treasure.
Amazing piece of work on so many levels! I was fortunate to meet a lot of the actors and writers at the 20th anniversary at the WW2 museum in New Orleans. All of the people that spoke during the symposium really came across as it being a TEAM effort. All of the parties involved poured their heart out to honor these men. Their efforts really came across on the screen. Thanks for your hard work to make this such a success for the world to see!
Ron, thanks and you did a very good job in the movie. Anybody who would jump out of a perfectly good airplane has a hats off from me. In Vietnam we never jumped. We used choppers. Different war. As we used to say in the 3/506, "Currahee".
Ron Livingston played the part of Nixon so well that the bond between Winters and Nix came thru on the screen. I had a very good friend who has passed away but watching Ron who could be a twin of my friend Yanni it was like i was watching my friend on the screen. Thank you for paying great respect to the men who went and gave all.
Just finished "Masters of the Air". It was great, but overall(similar to "The Pacific"), it mainly just reminded me how incredible BoB was/is. I feel bad, especially for everyone involved in "The Pacific", it's probably an amazing series, but it's impossible to live up to the bar that BoB set. The timing was perfect, and it's so clear that Hanks knew, from the beginning, how important what they were doing was, and that really seemed to rub off on everyone else.
I loved watching these going through all of this so that they could represent the guys that gave us our freedom and sacrificed their lives for us. I’ve watched lots of the documentaries and I was thrilled to learn that the true guys came over to the UK and trained at one of the army bases where one of my family is currently based at. I love the history of everything and all those who served. Thank you for everything you did to show how amazing all the guys were x

I read every book I could find about EZ Company, Capt. Dick Winters and the books written by Steven Ambrose, as well as the book written by Dock Winters. The Series brought everything to real life…the comedy as well as the tragedy. Loved the series. I’ve watched it 16 times….so far.
During MA training, I once saw a fellow trainee hold a knuckle push-up position in plank on a tile floor for at least 20 minutes. “At least” because I didn’t look at the clock when we started. The guy had exceptional mind over matter control.

When I was in Basic training at Ft. bliss in 1984 , we had to run from weapons range to weapons range with full packs . Some were a mere 100 yards apart , one was a mile away . If someone fell out , we were not allowed to assist them . What they would do was have us run a few hundred feet and then " Wagon Wheel " ! We all turned around and went back to where the soldier fell out . We learned to ignore the D.I.'s and grab the soldier , someone got his weapon and someone took his field pack . We learned early to care about each other ! We also got into a situation where three of our four ranks was in the leaning rest position , we were at attention . They had to do push ups as we watched . Our squad leader put us in the leaning rest position and we followed the platoon ! I was shot at once in 21 years but that was enough to impress on my mind what the actual WWII vets endured.. My Lord, what a bunch of true heroes.
If they hadn't done that boot camp, I don't think the series would be as realistic as it was. Best show I've seen in 30 years.
Completely agree 👍
Got that right… you could really how their demeanour changed from day one to the assault. They were 50% acting and 50% living the part.
I agree on that! Next to The Pacific.
Dye was 100% correct, it ALL came across on film...that's why Band of Brothers is the BEST mini-series in TV history.
I have to agree with you. You could sense they’re shared adversity (if only for a short while) and they were closer for it
The pre-training and bonding of the actors did much to convey that they were behaving as Soldiers on screen and giving so much credibility to the acting.
100 percent! was gonna comment this myself but you nailed it!
definitely amazing also really enjoyed the Pacific
Dreck!
the best series I think I've ever watched on the military.
Check out The Pacific. Or, read Helmet For My Pillow and With The Old Breed.
I’ve got to agree. It made me join the Army
Fantastic! I thought the pacific was so dark and gritty- I felt tired and stressed just watching it. Imagine living through that
@@RivetGardener Don't forget about Generation Kill as well. Fits right up there.
