Hawaii is ten time smaller than Washington state, really awesome you could catch big boys that size in a state that’s microscopic. That must have been private land because I’m sure the bass fishing otherwise is extremely pressured and bad. I’d like to travel to Hawaii for salt water fishing but bass fishing there definitely isn’t on my list. Probably hit texas soon for some primo bass fishing. Great video guys
To be on da islands and catching bass, would be a dream come tru. I fish almost daily in AZ. I know it would definitely be daily there. Thanks for the video
Me being born and raised on Kauai, I used to fish for largemouth, smallmouth and peacock bass during the 80’s in the reservoirs for the former Lihue Plantation sugarcane fields.
@@MattyWongFishing It was, the old sugar plantation reservoirs were full of bass because not everyone knew about it and it was all private property back then when the plantations were in operation but my dad worked for the Lihue Plantation and we had passes to fish the reservoirs for bass, guarantee hookup first couple of casts with almost anything from plastic worms to crank baits, etc.
@@jasonbabila6006 unreal! Can only imagine it... It's like what Ho'omaluhia on Oahu was before with smallmouth! Had 4lbrs inside.. but nothing like Kauai!
Cash is a Stud! My wife and I worked alongside Bill Siemantel for the Big Bass Zone Junior Championship. Cash was the State winner from Hawaii that fished the Championship in Missouri last year. I'm sure he talked about it with you. I took home his lifejacket since they weren't flying it back home so I had him do his very first autograph. It was pretty cool! Matt is good people too!
Very Cool! I think what you and Bill are doing is great for the next generation of anglers! Cash told me all about that experience! Soo neat to see kids from my home state be able to make it out the mainland to compete in bass derbies!
Matty you are such an amazing fisherman to watch especially when not tournament fishing. I do however miss the weekly vid 😪 but I know that you are super busy with your AWSOME career. Thank you again for all your effort you STILL manage to put in for us. Until next video may your lines stay tight and heavy with toads!!!
Thanks buddy. It’s a lot to try and juggle fishing the elites and being able to put out a edit every week. Especially since it literally takes me a whole day to put one together. I’m gunna keep trying my best to keep ‘em coming!!! Thanks for your support buddy!
awesome trip, Matty! Those boys will have that memory forever dude! I remember visiting the islands on 10th wedding anniversary. And sooo true… on that island, chickens own it. lol. Super nice what megaBass donated and great mentoring you did. Keep it up dude! Hope you enjoy rest of your vacation time in home state!🙂
There’s gotta be a way we can change that… there’s gotta be public access to some of the “private” ponds. Such a bummer the way money talks & liability changed the way how Kauaiians can freshwater fish.
Yo brotha! Ive been a big fan of you since Alondra park days! 🤙 im happy to see you doing it big! I was wondering if you can help me out with fishing in Kauai ill be going early May. I don’t even know where to start with where i can fish at. I would love to go to the same reservoir as you did in this video. Who can i contact for that?
That lizard at 4:07 was so beautiful!
You are a great inspiration for future gens, Matty!👍💪🌺
Mahalo bro! 😁🙏🏼

I see he has the Garmin cradle upfront 💪🏻

@@MattyWongFishing when I used to live in Wahiawa, I was never successful for bass fishing there, it’s different
How did they get there!?
Your best video so far! AOY!!! Looking forward to a million more.
That was super cool. HI is a really special place.
I love it over there. Went for our honeymoon and if I wasn’t so hooked on bass I’d live there.
What I mean Matty is it's nice to see you relax a little.
Legendary video, stoked groms 🤙
Way to put a memory together for those young men! That’s what it’s about! Thxs Matty.

cool stuff man! caught my 1st peacock bass in kauai also got a few nice largies
Also did some awesome bass fishing in the Philippines 🤫🎣
Fresh water fishing was a big thing on kauai when there was access to the ponds. Now with no acess no one cares if you catch a big one.
There’s gotta be a way we can change that… there’s gotta be public access to some of the “private” ponds. Such a bummer the way money talks & liability changed the way how Kauaiians can freshwater fish.
What is the name of this lake? Is it open to public fishing?
It’s call Waita reservoir, unfortunately it’s not but if you hit up my buddy Darrell he can guide you out there
@@MattyWongFishing Oh i see. Thanks Matty, good luck on your tournaments!!
