I've just recently gotten into doing card tricks, and I've seen other tutorials on this move. This has thus far been the most useful. Very cleanly taught with beautiful presentation. Thank you for this video.
Extremely well taught and organized Asad; even I have already did magic for quite some time this tutorial had brought some points that is crucial to a successful and well executed Elmsley Count. A practice tip to practice the Elmsley Count i want to add here is by starting with a 7 card packet face up, and Elmsley Count 4 cards; now ditch 1 card and do it again with 6. Continue to do the count and ditch cards every round. Upon reaching only 3 cards count them as if they are 4, same goes with only two cards. This exercise was suggested by Michael Ammar and I have found this to be the most effective to practice Emsley Count.
Asad u just simply have the best voice ever.... It makes me feel relaxed every time u talk. Another stunning, clear and detailed tutorial, u just earned a new subscriber :)
Wow! This is why I really appreciate your videos. Not to brag, but I thought my Elmsley Count was near perfect but your pointer to the positioning of the index finger just immediately improved my technique by a ton! Thank you, Asad
Your video is brilliant, the best I've watched. You explain so well, each time I understand with you. I managed to do immediately with your video! Thank you so much!
holy, You are a mentalist. Yesterday i went to my local card store and picked up a couple of decks. the owner then showed us a trick that involved the double lift and the elmsley count, after that i thought DAMN i want to learn that too. and went online and you upload this video. Thank you very much :) Keep on goin
Hi, I’ve been Magic for years now but never managed to master the Elmsley count... thanks to your video I seem to be getting there! Very well explained! Now I just need a few routines for it 🙂😀😎
dude thanks a lot for that tutorial i watched an other tutorial for the elmsley count two years ago and i couldnt do it i watched yours and now i can do it very nice and easy thanks a lot keep up with the good work thumbs up you earned my sub long ago with your good work :)
Fantastic video I wish I had found this video sooner, it would have made the re-swindled routine learning curve so much easier. Thank you so much for the time and effort you have put into this video and for passing on your knowledge. One question though, are you left handed? I only ask as you hold the cards in the same way i would naturally pick them up and im left handed, a lot of tutorials im having to try and reverse everything im seeing and they are doing because of being a lefty.. it was a pleasure not to have to do that with this video 😂
Hello Asad! I like you chanel, like the way you teach. Thank you for tutorial and for your job you doing for us. So, there is my question: we always see your sleight of hands and it's good, but I think, that it will be interesting for us, for your students to see your skills in showing your sleight of hands to real spectator like a street magic videos. It's not necessarily to do it all time, but if you'll do it, for example, one in ten videos, it will be realy cool and informative. What do you think about it? P.s.: I'm not english speaking, so I hope I wrote it all right :)
Hi Asad. Just to clarify...you are right handed correct? I ask because I have always done the Helmsley count holding the cards in my left hand and swiping with my right. I'm wondering if I just learned it backwards, (I'm right handed) or if there is a reason you do it from right to left?
+Houston Curtis Hey Houston! Yes, I'm right handed. It's more efficient to pinch the cards in your right hand and swipe the cards using your left. This way the cards end on your default mechanics grip. If you have already spent a considerable amount of time practicing it in reverse then it's not the end of the world, but it is better form to start with the cards in your right hand.
Alex Elmsley teaches left to right in his books, he performs it left to right and I believe he is right handed. I am right handed and I agree with you but I find it easier counting right to left.
hey! love your videos! but could you start mentioning that is the deck full plastic or not in your deck reviews? i would hate to waste money on cards that arenot full plastic
Can you please tell me where i can get the green board that you use in your videos, because i have no surfaces to work on. Also does it make a diffence as to which cards ylu use for this count, because I've practised with poor quality cards and cant seem to do it. Amazing Video, keep up the good work. 😄
I have the exactly same problem but I think if I keep doing it long enough, problem disappears or I'll give up :) ... it's just a matter of training over and over and over again... just like anything else...
I'm a righty, so I hold and handle cards in the same way that you do in all other scenarios, but I've learned to do this with the hands swapped (right hand being the counting hand). Will that have any sort of impact on trick routines and whatnot?
Hello, im really confused. What is the difference between the Elmsly count. And yhe bittel grip? They both look the same. Abd they both look like they do the same thing? Can someone help? I can do the Bittel grip. I prefer it better, but im confused, coz i wonder if am i doing the Elmsly count and dont know it 🤔 . Thanks, Glen
The first time I tried counting normally in the same way.I fooled myself only grabbed 3 cards but I had only 4 cards it's was funny and shows that this sleight can fool anyone even yourself
The trick is once you pushed the card back under the small deck in your right hand you can keep on counting until four. If you want to go beyond you either flash the cards or have to push the whole stack of hidden cards together with the masking card.
If your hands are too small to hide them naturally work on the angle a bit more and play around with the grip until you feel comfortable with the angle and the grip. To work on the angle either buy the mirror featured on this channel or just try it infront of a normal mirror if you're not too fussed about the side view. And for the performance which does involve the palm try to not stare at your hand and raise your voice slightly to distract the spectators. Hope this helped.
the elmsley move seems easier to do if my fingers are moist, but it don't seem natural to lick your fingers before the count - anyone have any thoughts
Buy thee cheap mirrors and use some wide strong tape like duct tape as a make shift hinge. Don't forget to leave a gap of about 10mm between the mirrors otherwise they won't fold.
even when i do the move the way you explain it i end up with one card left in my hand after the packet is transferred. Please improve this video to make your more clear. you could do a step by step instruction with numbered steps and showing the list at the end highlighting them while u do it at slow and full speed.
I would strongly recommend you don't move your right hand....when you move the hand that the cards come out of, it looks more like a shuffle, than a count. Consider holding the back of your right hand against your inside knee/thigh so it can't move. Pro tips.
Am I the only one having problem peeling off the first card without separation or even grabbing two cards? Annoying! So yeah, already frustrated at the counting part..
It's hard to explain in writing but I'll try. Assuming you are counting right to left like in the tutorial: with your left index finger across the far short edge of the packet, push down and outward to the left with your left thumb. The left index finger keeps the bottom three cards in place while the left thumb kind of forces the top card out and to the left. The initial separation is caused entirely by the hand that is taking the cards.
I've just recently gotten into doing card tricks, and I've seen other tutorials on this move. This has thus far been the most useful. Very cleanly taught with beautiful presentation. Thank you for this video.
So glad that it's helpful!
+52Kards dude this is good but how u gonna start the trick like when u start by holding just the 4 card or what hope u answr and keep up😄
Anwer you have to set it up, or you have to learn another skill, culling perhaps
+Dagger Russiard Velasquez ok thanks man you the best
+Dagger Russiard Velasquez can u do this trick with deck of card or just bysicle

Can the false count be used for money at the cash register?
Try it I mean why not
Try it but don't tell the feds ;) xD
WhatAreYouBuyen
: I like the way you think! 💲🐲💲
WhatAreYouBuyen Yep. Be sure to repeat the false count for the number of laws you’d be breaking while you’re at it.
In theory. Would take a lot of practice though, and fresh bills.
Love the time stamp for every chapter you have explained❤️
Wow! This is why I really appreciate your videos. Not to brag, but I thought my Elmsley Count was near perfect but your pointer to the positioning of the index finger just immediately improved my technique by a ton! Thank you, Asad

Wow...impressed with this tutorial Asad....not many tutorials here on UA-cam teach this count effectively...Really like those cards!!
Dude I love your tutorials no messing just the content people want and done relaxed and seamlessly
I personally believe that you are the best magic teacher ever!!!!! Thank you so much for teaching me magic for the past few years! :)

Great video! The Elmsley Count was one of the first moves I ever learned and a favorite of mine.
Hi, I’ve been Magic for years now but never managed to master the Elmsley count... thanks to your video I seem to be getting there! Very well explained! Now I just need a few routines for it 🙂😀😎
You're the first one that explains it well great job I'm going to practice it until I get it perfect Thank you very much
Awesome video, and the quality is much improved :) Can't wait for my Black Mint deck to arrive.

Thank you for showing this from the performer’s point of view!
Beautiful deck!
i watched 10 tutorials about the elmsley count, and only this one helped me to perform it clean
The Mirror thing is so fine saw if for the first time ❤️

This is the best elmsley count tutorial ever

LOVE YOUUUUU ASAD!!!!!!!!!
great tutorial
When i learned this move I practised it so much I couldnt even normaly count the 4 cards. I kept hiding the 3rd :-)
Thank you helped a lot!
That's really amazing move...
Great tuition. Just one question. Are you left handed. As a right hander myself it seems more obvious to count from left hand to right.?
Alex Elmsley teaches left to right in his books, he performs it left to right and I believe he is right handed. I am right handed and I agree with you but I find it easier counting right to left.

Could you upload more routines? that would be awesome
Asad is BAD! Smooth operator. Thanks & continued success!
Digging that into
Intro*
I have a problem, swiping the first card...any tips
This is a GREAT tutorial! You did a beautiful job
i love your intro😍
how much mint decks are you planning on producing or how much did you produce
can you make a tutorial how to speak when we make a trick.. thanks.
It may seem stupid, but I have the most problem picking the first card without flashing knocking the second one a bit, thus flashing the third one...
I have the exactly same problem but I think if I keep doing it long enough, problem disappears or I'll give up :) ... it's just a matter of training over and over and over again... just like anything else...
May I ask how would you "clean" a deck of cards if it ever becomes clumpy or kinda sticky?
I'm a righty, so I hold and handle cards in the same way that you do in all other scenarios, but I've learned to do this with the hands swapped (right hand being the counting hand). Will that have any sort of impact on trick routines and whatnot?
I love ur channel

I can do the Bittel grip. I prefer it better, but im confused, coz i wonder if am i doing the Elmsly count and dont know it 🤔 .

thanks for the toturial
you are very advanced magician and i like you
but can you make videos about *what is the best gaff deck
Invisible deck.
The first time I tried counting normally in the same way.I fooled myself only grabbed 3 cards but I had only 4 cards it's was funny and shows that this sleight can fool anyone even yourself
Hey! I was wondering if there is a cool flourish or fast way to square up cards that are facing every direction (like after "washing" a deck)
Can you put a tutorial for some cardistry flourish
what was the trick they showed off using this move? changing their chosen rank cards by other rank while counting 4 with elmsley?
what you use on your camera to record the video with your point of view?
when is the mint deck coming out!
i had to laugh so hard at 11:11
You HAD to? Is someone forcing you to?
Wow really hilarious, he messed up
I miss something. In the example, you have 5 cards, but you count until 4. So you don't 'show' the 5 cards. Or is my question stupid?
The trick is once you pushed the card back under the small deck in your right hand you can keep on counting until four. If you want to go beyond you either flash the cards or have to push the whole stack of hidden cards together with the masking card.
You're the best
what is the deck its nice ?
Custom mint deck available soon from his shop

Mint
+Gianluca Your mint.
+52Kards follow me on Instagram @jkchishiba and By the way where is my black mint deck?
Not able to swipe off the first card. Ends up picking up two cards and showing the faces. 😕
Ugh i cant find the trick you made using this move. Using 3 aces and 2 cards of a suit...
The card I flipped over was also the 9 of hearts!!
I need help with something though, I can't palm a bicycle card for my hands are too small, any tips?
If your hands are too small to hide them naturally work on the angle a bit more and play around with the grip until you feel comfortable with the angle and the grip. To work on the angle either buy the mirror featured on this channel or just try it infront of a normal mirror if you're not too fussed about the side view. And for the performance which does involve the palm try to not stare at your hand and raise your voice slightly to distract the spectators. Hope this helped.
Where do you buy those mirrors and board, and how much are they. Someone please answer
Everything-Life u can buy the mirror on his site and thats a close up pad u can get that off amazon for 10$
4:41 orientation
TRIGGERED
the elmsley move seems easier to do if my fingers are moist, but it don't seem natural to lick your fingers before the count - anyone have any thoughts
Fingertip moistener called "Sortkwik".
nice
why does my card not go to the bottom?
Where do you get such a mirror?
Buy thee cheap mirrors and use some wide strong tape like duct tape as a make shift hinge. Don't forget to leave a gap of about 10mm between the mirrors otherwise they won't fold.
even when i do the move the way you explain it i end up with one card left in my hand after the packet is transferred. Please improve this video to make your more clear. you could do a step by step instruction with numbered steps and showing the list at the end highlighting them while u do it at slow and full speed.
Are you failing to deposit the first card at the back as you push over and take the block?
Doing old tutorials again? If so, Instant Replay and Molecule ;)
Has anyone tried a killer bees by ellusionist deck
is that a MINT cards...???what is that made of...???plastic...???
Guys, where can I get rubber balls?
can you do a sybil cut tutorial plz
He had already made a tutorial on the sybil cut
Instead of doing a multiple card push-off, I cull the bottom card a bit
i do the same, it seems to make it easier for me
your cards are made from paper or not? sry for bad english
yes they are paper like bicycles
are al bicycles made of paper? even the playing cards sorry just a doubt
S.R¡Gato there is a special Bicycle deck that is plastic (prestige deck) but almost all other USPCC/Bicycle decks are paper. Also paper is better
thank you sooooo much
I would strongly recommend you don't move your right hand....when you move the hand that the cards come out of, it looks more like a shuffle, than a count. Consider holding the back of your right hand against your inside knee/thigh so it can't move. Pro tips.
I just become a fan! xd
How do you do it with three cards?
It's the same method, you just don't need to do a multiple card push off for the second swipe.
+52Kards do you do it off the first one?
+Phil Rogers You don't do a double pushoff. You push off the first one, push off the second one as you steal the first one, keep counting
love it i was the 46 like
that was awesome tho
Plzz do one more A NEW VIDEO
hi Asad :)
uff finish my cards
Noice, tho i already learned this move from mismag822.
do you want free intro?
I like this channel but 6 minutes in and I'm just getting to the trick...
This man's hands look like my feet! It's really weird
I'm early
