I’m reading Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson and I definitely want to read this and the sorcery of thorns. I’m so excited to see where her books go. She’s such a good writer!
I have many many many questions after the ending and I would love to hear some of ur theories: 1. How can Isobel and rook be together for long when she’s mortal and he is immortal? They won’t have long together unless there is a second book which I doubt. 2. Who the heck is king or queen. 3. What did rooks true form really look like? I had a hard time picturing him without his glamour. Did he look like his glamour but more skinny and pale like I have no idea. 4. If Isobel is the Queen then why has the land turned to autumn? Is rook really king? 5. How come rook and feel feelings but the other fae can’t?
Wonderful review! I actually just got my copy this weekend and am around 2/3 way through! Also I completely agree, I am really enjoying the book so far and Isobel and Rook's relationship made me laugh so many times:D I wish the book was longer, I really don't want it to end!
I have picked up this book a few times and couldn't get into it, but I think I hadn't given it enough of my time and energy. Since watching this video I have decided to give it another try, thank you!!!
I loved this book too! I felt like I had high expectations for it and they were actually met. I was genuinely surprised at how realistic and relatable a fae story like this could be but I really enjoyed it!
I've been seeing this book everywhere but couldn't decide whether I wanted to get it or not but your review helped me make up my mind. I'm really enjoying this book. 🙂
It's a bummer because I quite disliked this book, and was really looking forward to it. Minor spoilers may be ahead... I felt that the main characters were lacking depth, and proper explanation of past events (specifically Isobel's parents were glossed over in a really lazy way, and I wanted to know more a about her history of becoming a painter and how she began working with the fae). Also, it felt incredibly like insta-love because she says that she is infatuated with Rook but we only got to see their first interaction before she was suddenly in love with him. She also described Rook as full of himself (can't remember the exact phrase) but he wasn't that way until AFTER she told us that, and even then, to me, he wasn't really full of himself. And lastly, I didn't feel enough sense of urgency or danger in their travels. Things seemed too easily gotten out of and wrapped up. In summary, I think this book needed at least 50 more pages to flesh things out.
I agree, It felt like it was the first draft of a potentially great novel and it was left with its main element unresolved, to address mortal sorrow throughout only to *SPOILER* (below) have a marriage between a mortal and an immortal (That was way too breezed over) that will be over in a "golden afternoon". Also it seemed as if Isobel's craft had a magic element that should've been drawn out and used as a resolve to immortality in the sequels somehow, the past should've been explained more. WHY was Rook so different? how did he fall in love so ardently, twice, if mortal life passes so quickly? The humour is juvenile, the maturity elements brushed past by a 'good law' that isn't explained until the very end, by a king's mandate. The world beyond that was never expanded into - for the characters to bounce between courts and never take on danger and head there, despite their great love it's not as if she wanted to be in near proximity to the well. I definitely thought themes of maybe Rook was originally human (only for some haunted random to be) or maybe if a Fae drank they'd become human, were gonna be explored. And for it to apparently be a stand alone. It definitely needed fleshing out, and reworking a bit more. I'm disappointed because as I read it I just saw how GREAT it could be! 3.5 stars.
I also agree, it was really short and not developed enough... it’s a pity since the idea was so much fun! Insta love, dragged out travel, not enough time to get to the depth of things...
I'm glad that other people saw what I did in this book. I thought I was crazy because all the reviews are raving about it, and I was like "I wanna like it that much too...what did I miss? Did we read the same book?" This could have been such a great book if it had undergone more editing and story/character development because the exicution was lackluster.
I love your review! However, I kind of want to point out that it's "AN Enchantment of Ravens", not "the", and it's Margaret, not Margot. Just a minor issue, though. This was a fantastic book!
bruh im in 5th grade and i Bought this in 3rd grade in the scoo scolastic book fair. but i mean it's me fav book! ps i muture fast I've seen tokyo ghoul 😂😂
I really liked the book but at the same time, I feel it could've been a little more drawn out and Isobel should've been less apologetic for being so trope-y, the readers know what they're getting into. Some of the humour felt like it shied away from the maturity that the characters in the book were meant to be age-wise. 3.5/5 stars
*spoiler alert* same. and i didn't like how Lark said no one could kill the Alder King and then Isobel so easily killed him just by stabbing him which was too convenient. And I felt like many things could have been explained better I still have no idea what the purpose of the wild hunt is or why hemlock leads it.. and Gadfly's intentions at the end were barely explained ..
I was under the assumption that the wild hunt was the alder kings way of keeping the courts in check, but idk. The author really needed a team of editors behind her.
I WANT TO READ THIS ONE SO BADLY!
Last time I was this early..... My tbr wasn't the size of the Eiffel tower
I just finished it last night and I agree with you about everything. It was so lyrical and effective. 🙂

Deco_great oh my gosh yes! All that you said, yes!
oh and they WHOLE book is from Isobel's perspective yet the reader doesn't get to know her true name?? what shit is that??
I also agree, it was really short and not developed enough... it’s a pity since the idea was so much fun! Insta love, dragged out travel, not enough time to get to the depth of things...

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE NAME OF THE GLASSES YOU ARE WEARING ARE AND I SWEAR I'LL USE YOUR AFFIL LINK
Cool but will there ever be a paperback of this book? BD says it doesn't exist. :(
Originally, I wasn't going to read this book because I didn't know if I was going to enjoy it or not. Now I am DYING to read it 😅
Great video. You should check out this web serial called "Worm". I think you'd really enjoy it.
Wich book should i read? An enchantment of ravens or the inheritance games???
My favourite book of 2017!
(btw *********An)
i know no one is going to see this but, is there a age restriction for this book?
I dislked this book, for a number of reasons. I had really high hopes but I was dissapointed. The cover is very pretty, though.
Awesome Glasses #FemaleHarryPotter
Is that young adult romance novel?
I love your review! However, I kind of want to point out that it's "AN Enchantment of Ravens", not "the", and it's Margaret, not Margot. Just a minor issue, though. This was a fantastic book!
I heard it was a lot like the ACOTAR series and sounds a lot like it. I liked ACOTAR but idk if I should pick this up or not, is it worth it?
seemed like ACOTAR from the blurb but was actually not even remotely like it
for me, it wasn't like acotar at all. the only factors similar were both had fae, and both had like fae autumn/winter courts
bruh im in 5th grade and i Bought this in 3rd grade in the scoo scolastic book fair. but i mean it's me fav book! ps i muture fast I've seen tokyo ghoul 😂😂
is it a stand alone?
that's disappointing, the whole mortal sorrow element is addressed throughout yet never resolved then.
yep!
Starlit Unicorn well Three Dark Crowns was supposed to be a duology, so anything can happen!
this sounds a lot like acotar
Was I the only one who thought that the pace of the story was really fast?
It reminded me so much of Uprooted by Naomi Novak!!
Zainab Faessal I totally agree!
I really liked the book but at the same time, I feel it could've been a little more drawn out and Isobel should've been less apologetic for being so trope-y, the readers know what they're getting into. I heard the whole artist who paints and lives in a human land on the border of a fae land and I'm like how is this different from ACOTAR lol
BUT I PROMISE IT IS
That’s what I thought at first but then when Reagan talked more about it throughout the video I realised there are similarities by it is different
It's ACOTAR but good
I did not like this book at ALL.
Sounds dumb
