    Sorry for the comparation, but with the glasses reflecting the light looking like Hornes, and playing the aulos at the same time, he really looks like an satyr ha ha ha... Absolutly beautiful!

      +Lm Sbm Not sure, but it might be circular breathing.

      Lm Sbm There are some videos here on UA-cam that teach how to circular-breathe. I have never watched any of them to the end, but I think they might be useful.

    Hello. Many years ago I made a video of a rehearsal (university theater assignment) using some of the sound from your video. Now I am uploading my video to my channel. I will put the link and name of your video in the credits. Is this ok?

      Dear Mr. Andersen, I apologize on responding only now... To get more informations about "aulos" (playing, building), you should ask direct the performer, recorder player, Professor Conrad Steinmann, an specialist on "auloi". Steinmann teaches at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, Basel Switzerland.

    • @JohnToddAndersen
      @JohnToddAndersen 7 років тому +5

      Now that is some great news. :) since I live in Basel myself I will maybe have the opportunity to go there in personal. So it was worth the wait, thanks anyways and no worries :)

    why does one aulos have more holes than someone has fingers ? He doesn't seem to be using the last hole

    • @EvilEddtheRed
      @EvilEddtheRed 8 років тому

      As I understand it, some ancient paintings show pegs (presumably removable) in some of the holes.

    • @eldickboygrande
      @eldickboygrande 8 років тому +8

      Lowest hole basically determines the length of the pipe. It's for tuning, not playing.
