  • The video gives insights in the excellent making of a M7 bagpipe out of blackwood and hand engraved sterling silver parts by the master craftsman Ian D Murray. The bagpipe is played the first time by Glenn Ross (a member of the Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band), as shown in the last part of the video. Scotland, Forfar, April 2013, www.ianmurray-bagpipes.co.uk/
Thank you very much Ian for this masterpiece and Glenn for your dedicated playing... the sound pattern of the instrument and all your efforts are overwhelming... Christoph

nice craftsmanship ! Question : does the drones thickness modulation of the outside diameter ( the inside diameter being cylindrical) impacts the sound in any way (if so in which way?) or is it purely decorative ?thanks

Why do you have to add music to the video? The sound of the machine and the tools are the 'music' I want to hear.

Amazing video. One false move when making those beadings, and the whole piece is ruined. I recently acquired some laburnum and when researching what I can turn with it, I was interested to hear that in Scotland pipes were sometimes made with this wood...and yet it is toxic! Anybody able to provide any more information on this please?
