This is my 1st Smart watch and my 3rd Tag watch. These are brilliant. I love it. I am a tag snob though. The only other watch i have is a Cartier. One day I'll get a Rolex. I never sell my watches, trying to get a collection. Watches are the only luxury items i buy not including ipads, car, or house etc which are modern (tech)but modest.

So, you just have to buy a second watch and then suddenly have a second watch? That's amazing!! :-D

it SOUNDS really stupid, until you consider: although not always on the top of the list for haute horlogerie collectors tag heuer IS a watchmaker that WOULD be in the list. As such, their watches START at about $3000. Ultimately, the cheapest "mechanical module" is about $1500, considering the cost of the cheapest (rubber strap) connected 45 is another $1500 that adds up to $3000, which is actually MUCH cheaper than if you had to go and buy a mechanical watch with similiar movement as the mechanical module and materials similar to what you'd have there. This is basically a way for TAG to draw IN SOME kind of people, namely: those who ARE watch collectors, or want to get into it, but also are into smartwatches...in 3-5 years when your wearos watch is no longer functional or valid or whatever...another $1500 and you have a Tag Heuer watch - which would normally go for over $3000.
To be more specific, I bought a leather strapped connected45 for $1800. Another $2700 for a mechanical module of the "Calibre 16 Automatic" variety, means a total cost of $4500. THe cheapest "Calibre 16" watch is about $4200 for a 41mm watch, or $4800 for a 43mm watch (which seems like a more reasonable comparison). Which means, AT WORST, for $300 more you are getting a SMARTWATCH. Essentially, you pay $300, get a smarwatch, then pay $4200 for a Tag Heuer Calibre 16 watch...which is the cheapest you can get a watch from that "movement" at. Like, if you're the kind of person who is IN THE MARKET for a $4500 Tag Heuer watch ANYWAYS, you're only shelling out an extra $300 for the smartwatch there.
Yes Tag Heuer IS VERY expensive, and even many watch enthusiasts will tell you that modern Tag Heuer's are NOT worthy of their hefty price tags...however, if you accept tag heuer's price tag as "another expensive piece of haute horlogerie" like Rolex or Brietlig...then the price of the connected AND basically teh entire price structure and offering there makes perfect sense

If you have the money and you want to spend the money, do it. That's the reason why men buy expensive watches. We can't show off a purse, ring, earrings, shoes like women. Guys show off knives and watches. Simple as that.

Super pretty however I will not even consider buying one until the add one of the most critical features: a heart rate monitor. To me, a smart watch without it is lake a phone that can’t make calls.

Amazing how it simply and easily switches to an analog by buying an analog and using the same strap. Wow, just like magic.
Nice idea though, but too big and waaaay too expensive. 17k for the full pack ? Seriously ? Daaaamn. Give me their Tourbillon over this any day for that price.

Just to make sure I got it right - in Tag Heuer's terms 'modular smartwatch' means that you take your smartwatch out of your strap, throw it away and put a classical mech.watch? :)
I've heard other modular smartwatches actually trying to build it around the core (the watch itself), I guess they got it wrong, and it's much better to build the modules around the strap? :D

IMO the speaker on this video is being wierd. While the whole "replace w/ mechanical" is a thing, i think the MAIN attraction of this watch and the reason for it's name IS exactly what you think, going by how they advertise the watch and talk about it on their website: you can swap out the circular bezel piece, the "horns" and the strap. In fact the website has a "design your watch" a la motorola phone design thing.

Interesting concept, definitely gonna have to slim it down to at least 13 millimeter case height, but I do find it an interesting concept to combine smart watches and traditional mechanical pieces, I did the depth you get from the screen, and I like the displays but I can't with the size and case, also that price is gonna have to come down I think you could definitely do this in a stainless steel version. But overall it's an interesting proof of concept allowing for flexibility on the go and I respect Tag for trying to adapt to this new direction time keeping is going in, like it or not smart watches are becoming very popular, however I always think traditional watch making has it's place.

Far to big and bulky. I own two T/Hr watches, one of them being the formula one series. I thought my watch was big till I saw this. Might look ok on a thick wrist, but for slimmer wrists this may just look silly. I would be happy with an average sized watch that just allows you to change the faces. Nothing else, no connect ability, just a nice watch that keeps good time with the ability to change the face. Can’t be that hard or expensive I would think

How is this "way more" than any other smart watch? Does it have better functions than another Android watch, is it faster, does it have any special features for sports? Smart watches are not exactly the same as classic, there are different criteria to rank them.

    It does not worth.
I bought this 2 yrs back because i was told that i have an option to upgrade it to mechanical calibre 5 after the 2 yrs warranty.
android wear OS usually gets slower as they get older ..Lithium battery charge carrying gets lower in about 2 ~ 3yrs time after certain number of charging cycles.. this determines smart watches life.. i liked the idea of mechanical upgrade after warranty.. mechanical watches are for life.. my Tag Heuer connected has become almost useless after 2 years.. does not carry charge for even 8 hrs.. my warranty just got over 4 weeks back.. now when i want to upgrade Tag Heuer Official boutique in Singapore behave like con men. they give a feeling like they disowned this watch.. after they sale the watch, their job is over.. they sold this piece of shit watch and then it becomes customer liability.. they don't take any responsibility for the upgrade.. " replacement watches are not in stock.. we need to ask HQ.. don't know when they will send us the watch if we order now".. completely unprofessional behavior here in Singapore..
Guys !!! Tag Heuer is not an electronic company, and it will never be.. smart watches are not their core.. i made a wrong investment which just lasted only 2 yrs.. sigh ! ! ! ... Such a poor attitude.. and such a poor care for the Brand..

This is a fashion smartwatch but not a sport smartwatch. You can't use it for real training of hiking or hill climbing (not to mention spartan races). The touchscreen is useless in gloves and the titanium is a light metal but it can be easily damaged. There are far better and thicker smartwatches on the market for lower price.

Kyle Osnack Osnack I totally agree! I have had the KW88 for 4 months and it's great. I laughed when I saw this several months ago. I will say that Tag Heuer chose the right watch to copy. The KW88 is a surprisingly fantastic smart watch for the price! I have had samsung and LG Android Wear watches and this watch is, by far, a much better watch! BTW, I have a Tag and it is great, but I would never buy one of these. Technology changes too quick. These watches will eventually be throwaways. A real Tag is a keeper for life.

Honestly, I don't really use the KW88 for all of it's features. I find if I keep any wireless radios on, the battery dies really quick. Also, the silly inability to change Celsius to Fahrenheit is annoying to me. Other than those issues, I like that it is full android. I have all of my home automation set up on it. My lights, locks, Ring doorbell, alarm system, irrigation, and pool control and are all controlled on my KW88 (when I turn on wifi) Heck, for $100ish, it can't be beat. I've seen the S3...that would be the Wear watch I get if I went back to the Wear platform. Enjoy buddy!
