    Years ago I hit myself in the nose with my foam three sectional staff, doing a over head spin move. And it hurt. My nose wasn't bleeding, but I imagined if I used a hard one like that one my nose would've been bleeding. But now learned how to use it properly and feel very comfortable using it.

    By the way, the weapon-usage, or what one will call it, of Kung Fu is so brilliant because the same principles can be applied to any weapon in the arsenal..

    • @Heimdal001
      @Heimdal001 6 років тому

      It's somewhat true, kung fu weapon maneuvers do translate between a lot of like weapons all over the place. However, in this case, they are translating so directly because he doesn't know any of the moves that are specific to the weapon. He's just spinning and throwing it around. Looks good, but he's 'screwing around' more than he's 'doing kung fu'.

    If a three sectional staff has five chain rings it becomes slow and hard to control. If it has three chain rings it is faster and easier to control.
    If your chain is to long, you don’t have to cut it, just connect the first links of chain with a carabiner.

    To tell you a secret Jake, I admire your enthusiasm. Wish the rest of the world had it. Is it really true what they say that Chinese Martial Arts is in a sort of crisis? That the art is in danger of dying out? This is hard to understand since it´s so broad and versatile. And if what they say about Chi Kung/Qi Gong is true that a practitioner of it can hold himself physically fresh for his whole life then everyone should be training....

    Wow!! That three sectional staff looks so cool! I have a foam three sectional staff, but one day I'm gonna get one like that and see how it feels to spin and swing around. That one looks closer to like the one Jet Li uses in Fearless. Except his is a traditional one and yours is a modern ball bearing three sectional staff.

    • @Robocoppat
      @Robocoppat 3 роки тому

      Sometimes it could take years to master this weapon. And the reason it looks impressive is because of the spinning. Anyone who learned how to use a baton in school can do the same thing " Jake mace" is doing. Not to mention that he's using an
      OVERhand grip when he should be using an UNDERhand grip. What a Tool this guy is!!!!!!!

    Just made mine from young Hickory Trees I harvested last year. I wanted to season them fast. I saw a trick to do that by putting the staffs in my Van and the hot days dry them out really quickly ! Nice. I also added A Red and a Green cloth to the ends for flare ! Now I am following Jake to do the moves. So much fun and great exercise/discipline too !

      He likely learned through watching kung fu movies, UA-cam videos, and a whole lot of his own improv and guess work, on the basis that Jake doesn't show correct traditional Kung Fu or Tai Chi techniques.
      If you watch his 'self-defense techniques', he just throws 'styles' at situations with no understanding of the methodology the styles revolve around. Using Tai Chi moves in an external force-on-force method... he can say it's 'Internal' all he wants, and he's right saying that, but he has no applicable understanding about what 'internal' means.

      The Viewer Good, because he is fake Kung Fu teacher, and he uses programs to make his moves look fast. Look up his other self defense videos, and pay attention to the comments. People that actually did martial arts seriously are laughing at him, and think that he is one big joke. I am one of them. Try to look up Shaolin Monks presentations on UA-cam, they are really skilled with some cool weapons, so you may find it much more useful!

      Bojan Jaklin Polić I think he spent years of training in this field and people start to lose reality i don't care what other people say about him i think he's professional not because i'm an experienced fighter or a martial artists but because what he says actually makes sense, sure i wont lie some moves are rendered useless in situations but the way he moves and the smoothness in his patterns really show the experience and the profession. I'ts my opinion respect it as i respect your's. :)

    • @Kevin-qj7fp
      @Kevin-qj7fp 7 років тому +1

      if its too heavy its why you start slow and build muscles that can withstand the increasing weight as it continues to rotate your arms (if your hands cant handle it your gonna rotate your wrist and arm and its gonna hurt a whole lot)
      start slow and build speed and """""FLOW""""""flow is major in using bo staffs (in any martial arts flow is sometimes hard to attain)(take some martial arts so dont judge

    I must say sir, that I admire your stamina, and the condition of your body. It's just that I see no real moves, that would be effective in killing something like a zombiefied human.

    That is not a weapon designed to kill
    Sure you can do it but it will be difficult
    The story of that weapon suggested that it was a weapon of opportunity made by a man whose staff broke
    The chains themselves will lower the angular momentum too

    hey jake, I got a 3-sectional staff from a friend, but it is solid wood and very heavy. So heavy that I can barely spin it (I'm pretty good at the bo spins). Should I get a new 3-section staff or is it supposed to be very heavy?

    • @Robocoppat
      @Robocoppat 3 роки тому

      Depends on what kind of wood it is. Just make sure you stick with it. It will become lighter after you've used it for awhile. Your body isn't use to the change in weight .

    You got it all wrong Jake. Bruce Lee was actually slowing down his movement, in fact, other movie guys did it for him, slowing down with old technology, so that people can see something in the movies! And you are doing the opposite , you are making your moves at least ten times faster than they are in reality! Why man? Why? You got it all wrong!

      you'll eventually run out of bullets and arrows. this lasts until you break it. and its metal sooo

    • @adamfirth768
      @adamfirth768 8 років тому

      +Alain Rodriguez but majority of people would rather have a cross bow to this. U could always have a sword or what ever as well.

    • @alainrodriguez7422
      @alainrodriguez7422 8 років тому +1

      Adam Firth swords eventually dull, if you've ever seen people sharpen their swords before a war, it's because after killing and stabbing lots of people the edges become a lot less effective. Just remembered that if you don't clean your gun daily it also has a reallllly high chance of jamming and you not being able to shoot until you fix it. These maintenance issues don't apply to a 3 sectional bo staff because it's a dull weapon which grabs it's strength from it's momentum. Not to mention that a sword is twice as short as any kind of bo staff so using it instead of one would require you to get ridiculously close and risk either getting bitten or the zombie blood going into any scabs or wounds you might have.
