- To see the most famous lion pride in Kruger, tourists from all over the world flock to Satara Rest Camp in Kruger National Park.
The Shishangaan Brothers-Casper the White Lion, Mfowethu, Footloose, and Casanova-are in charge of the Satara Lion Pride and its adorable lion cubs.
We followed the Pride down the road after spending some time with them.
GAME DRIVE ETIQUETTE - RULES (SANParks):
- When you come across a sighting, slowly pull over on the side of the road closest to the animal, but keep a safe distance and turn OFF your engine
- If there are animals in the road, immediately stop at least 20 m from them
- The lane furthest from the sighting should NEVER be blocked, so that others can pass if they want to
- Don’t linger longer than a few minutes at a sighting, so that others can view it too
- Never go off the designated roads
- Never climb out of your vehicle during a drive, or hang out of your car windows or sunroof
- Don’t hoot or blare loud music
- Avoid driving into vegetation, as this could damage the environment or kill small animals
- During night drives, never shine a spotlight directly in animals’ eyes
- Never make noise to get animals to move, stand up or otherwise react for pictures
- Respect the rangers, and always comply with their requests or instructions

As soon as the male lion sits down, predictably the cub goes to him, greets him and sits next to him. No other cat family or animals have such very expressive family interaction.

He had been mating with that lioness laying in the grass beside him.
Casper has been mating with this other lioness sitting beside him. This lioness brought her cubs looking for him and interrupted him. He probably thought she was getting close to other lioness to attack her.

Heartbreaking the 3rd cub didn’t make it
😭I know it's nature but still heartbreaking a young lion cub is gone. I do hope the rest of the cubs survive to adulthood.

I think that's the male lion with the abscess on the back of his neck. They said he got it while hunting. It gets worse and ends up killing him. Can anyone confirm this?
Casper is not here so I don’t know why people say it’s him! It’s one of his brothers!

I believe the other cub went to the rainbow bridge. The mother seem to accepted the fate and stopped looking for her cub.
Where is Junior, the third lion cub ?
🤧Not sure if the other cub is the same but the 3rd cub is gone. I believe in R.I.P now. She never found her loss cub. She found one about a month ago but then another went missing and unable to find her missing cub.
😢I get worried when I see those cubs around the male Lion. Just don't trust them.Maybe its just me.❤
