forgot to turn off auto cliff hanger mode on streamlabs. Its a shame i had to take the vod down tho, making it to Laythe with literally 1d.v would of been so juicy xD
I have had a lot of success with LKO cargo sstos using chemical engines. Methalox is much denser than hydrogen, which means you can have the same fuel to payload to ratio for less volume. It will never reach as high of a delta V as nuclear, but just going to low kerbin orbit that wont matter So my view is hydrogen-nuclear sstos for long distance travel, and methalox-chemical sstos for low kerbin orbit delivery.
yup, chemical ssto's are a lot more suiter for lko lifts for the reasons you described :p In addition, heavyer payloads wont have the required twr on hydrogen to actually reach orbit
What's the reason for the nose cone inside the rapier engine? I know the kraken drive gets more thrust from obstruction, but you're doing something else with it?
I was referring to LKO d.v. When were talking about SSTO's, it doesnt make sense to talk about the d.v it needs to get to LKO, since that will vary greatly based on the specific design.
You could do a grand tour with a rapier only craft if you were efficient enough with gravity assists. In my testing, ive been able to get around 3.5k lko d.v out of rapier only craft, tho ive limited me self to 4 rapiers max due to fps. I suspect that having more rapiers could lead to higher LKO d.v, but its hard to tell where the diminishing returns start to hit with out extensive testing with larger craft.
the main ones that i use are: maneuver node controls, transfer window's, lazy orbit, cheat menue (purely for the aero debug menu lol), stage info, k2d2... there probably are others but i dont recall rn
is that a series im missing? :P Im sure Laythe is going to be a lot more cozy once we can start constructing things on it. Going to be amazing for ssto's.
The random stream end by YT just before landing was priceless :D

This channel is growing fast. I love the effort you put in the videos. Keep it up!
Fantastically done. That last second course correction was beautifully managed. Can't wait until maneuver editing during pause is allowed.
Just subbed as your 1k, great job man!! Keep it up, and congrats on the 1k subs!!!
aay, appreciate it, ive been eying the sub count all evening haha.
Glad you like the vids :P
The return of small SSTO's, finally.
The King of KSP2 SStOs :D
That’s it. I’m subscribing, your videos are amazing!
Your channel is underrated!
I approve of this video

awesome content dude

Yup, the nose cone reduces rapiers drag since it covers up its open node.
the game calculates drag based off of how many open nodes on your rocket so its the only way to be efficient using rapiers
I suck at SSTOs in KSP 2, I can never get them to break mach 1 and generate proper thrust from the Rapiers.
Id suggest you give my SSTO guide a look. It goes over some of the common mistakes people make along with more advanced tips :)
2,100 m/s isn't enough Delta-V to even get into orbit around Kerbin, much less even escaping the Kerbin System...

How far would you be able to take an SSTO, if you were limited to only Rapiers, but you can use multiple.

what mods do you use
