I would like to do this too someday, not exactly wear kimono everyday, but my country's traditional clothing. We mostly only think of traditional clothing as costumes for weddings and special occasions, and forget that our ancestors wore them everyday (though not as elaborate like wedding attire).

My calligraphy teacher’s mum here in taiwan is a seamstress, as well as a calligrapher, who makes qipao/cheongsam , and she wears qipao every day, and has been since she was 18 years old! Now at 75, it’s amazing that she has the same qipaos in her cupboard that she made when she was in her 20s… and she still wears them all. She even has sleep qipao… it’s amazing.
Now, i’m learning from her how to tailor a qipao and hopefully will be able to inherit the craft from her, along with her son.

From having a goal to build a wardrobe to understanding your "whys" behind the practice, I felt everything.
I am so grateful for you to have done such a personal and inspirational video! I believe this kimono lifestyle fits you very well because you chose it. You never mentioned what people tell you, second thoughts or judgements of any kinds. You are genuinely enjoying what feels right *to you* -besides you literally say it throughout the video XD.
Can I had one more thing: your house looks gorgeous! Wow, what a peaceful and relaxing indoor.
I wish to wear kimono to spread beauty (that's my goal). In addition, I want my outfit to inspire people and shines joy. Voilà, vielen danke, merci beaucoup: I am so proud to be your student! Love from France, Laurène ~~

My dear, I completely related to your statement about never finding your personal style. I've always bounced around and done my best to "blend" styles//trends together and even though it brings me joy, sometimes it just isn't enough.
Slowly, in the last year, I've begun curating a kimono collection but I lack the confidence to actually wear them out in public.
Hopefully one day I'll get my "Billy" moment and truly have that feeling of being beautiful.
    You're such an inspiration. ❤

I am in awe! I’ve always stared in amazement at people wearing kimono, both Japanese and foreigners.

Been watching your channel for a couple of years now, but just got around to this video! I am also a Westerner with a Japanese husband and love to wear kimono but definitely don't wear it everyday (only special occasions). Since we live in the US, incorporating Japanese culture and language into our household is very important for us as we raise our mixed-race sons. We speak Japanese in our home and live a pretty Japanese lifestyle in terms of daily life, cooking, etc. but perhaps we should wear traditional clothes more often so it's normalized for our boys :) thank you for all your videos!

I can relate. I feel like me in a blouse, a vest, and a floor length skirt. Any thing shorter than tea-length, I feel naked. I try to let each of my kids wear what they are most comfortable in. It's important. Thank you for being here. You have helped my oldest be brave about wearing kimono. She only has one, so far. But as soon as I can get her sewing machine to her, she will have many more. Thank you, thank you.

It's really interesting to see how you wear wafuku in your day-to-day life outside of lessons. I have two kimono which are silk iromuji as I use them for tea ceremony, and I'm really scared of wearing them around casually because I would have no way to have them cleaned if something were to happen. But perhaps I can get some practice by wearing my yukata around the house. ^_^ I'll also be on the look out for a second-hand polyester (or other more easily washable) kimono.

Hello! I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and I’ve already watched almost all of you videos!
I want to start wearing kimono part time eventually, I’ve loved Japanese fashion and culture since I was twelve. but unfortunately I currently don’t have the money to buy or the time to make my own. I live in a country that Japanese culture is not very popular so it’s very hard to find them. The one shop that did sell authentic kimono closed down🥺 I’m doing research right now and practicing my sewing whenever I can so I can make my first one. I love watching your channel and seeing how you live and see you make own accessories.

I have two yukata and I love to wear them especially in summer, I have worn one in May at Japan Day In Düsseldorf in Germany and I loved it. At home I live in a little village it’s not something I would wear outside to go to the convenient store. But I don’t mind opening my door and getting the mail.
I have both a real silk kimono, but don’t have a Obi for it and it’s more orange colors and similar tones. I love it much and maybe if I find out with Obi suits best I will wear it once I’m able to celebrate Japan day once again. I’ll have to rewatch your videos again to see if I missed maybe one about what colors can be worn together. I’m lucky it has the shorter sleeves since I’m a married woman and over 50 😉☺️. Thank you for showing and teaching us too.
    Much love

Thanks for sharing your week with us. That bread looked so tasty! Brings back memories of making sourdough from scratch when I lived in Tokyo. The smell of freshly baked bread is the best, isn’t it?! Also, I’ve never known anyone who has a pet hedgehog; he’s so cute! With regards to weird fashion: I grew up in the 80’s and the clothes were atrocious- you couldn’t get anything without shoulder pads, which looked horrible on me. That’s when I started sewing :-)
