Loved this reaction so much! Others have already pointed out that 'lössi' refers to Gettomasa's own crew, and maybe even more importantly, it's their own slang/dialect. At the start you caught the spoken line about "gang gang, squad squad" which was more along the lines of "the fuck is gang gang, squad squad?", which can be seen as a commentary of the English language, bit by bit, taking a foothold in everyday Finnish language through such loanwords, and spoken language turning into a Finglish. Especially by younger generations. Obviously language is ever evolving, and Gettomasa is definitely one of the better users of Finnish language in our music scene, thus it makes sense for him to be proud to be using words from his local dialect and not falling to the trap of constantly mixing languages to find easier rhymes. EDIT: Also there's endless amounts of great Gettomasa songs but 'Veli mä vannon' is one of my favorites. It's on a drill beat and imo it's one the best rapping performances he's done from the technical standpoint. That song also has the background of him giving a response to other rapper's throaway line about him, which resulted in said rapper (Lukas Leon) making an entire diss song, followed by Gettomasa making his own (Istu) and absolutely obliterating Lukas. I'm afraid you won't get much out of the whole beef because it's obviously in Finnish, but at least 'Veli mä vannon' will be a good listen.
The song emphasizes the importance and strength of the artist's group or crew ("lössi"). The lyrics describe various activities and behaviors of the crew, showcasing their unity and loyalty. The artist contrasts their crew with others, implying that they are more authentic and committed. There's a recurring theme of pride in the crew's size, strength, and distinctiveness, as well as a rejection of fake or insincere behavior from others. The chorus repeatedly emphasizes that wherever the artist goes, their crew is always with them, reinforcing their bond and solidarity.
One strength about the language itself when used when writing music: The grammar of Finnish language uses A LOT of suffixes that in other languages would need to be articulated in a couple words on top of the original word. Although these. In the more common and simple example, For example the word "haluan" means "I want", while "haluat" means "you want", and you can add more "words" as suffixes to further narrow down the exact meaning of the word. As an extra, more extreme example on the same word and how flexible this grammar system is, "haluamattomuutenne" means "your(plural) lack of wanting (to do or have something)", or probably in English it would be said as "your reluctance", while "haluamanilainen" means essentially "as/like what I want", and both are real words that people can and do use. Those longer versions of words are not that used in hiphop or casual, informal conversation, but that really shows how flexible the language can be when needed. This combined with the slang people use daily opens up a lot of avenues for rappers and lyricists to be really creative with the construction of rhymes and flows
And most of hes songs are produced by hes irl friend Ruuben , which makes it even cooler because they have made a long way together and you really can see how long they have come!
you're basically right! Amazing how you can get that from foreign language and music video. You should see more of his stuff and JVG! Also Gettomasa has won our "emmy" for the best music and still dissed the last guy on his speech.
Gettomasa -Muijii stadis, silmät, veli mä vannon, meit ei oo and shampanijadieetillä are some of his biggest songs along with some others but you should react to ATLEAST those definitely!
Thank you for this😎😎🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀this is soooooo 🥇 🥇 i like how excited you are for this Finnish rapper❤❤👌👌and that's so true, always we don't have to gnow what they say, you just hear when some artist is really good. And we have many great rappers in Finland and that culture is being here so long time 👑 👑
Gettomasa - Muijii Stadis, is also one hell of a banger. Its chill with good flow and melodies. I play this sometimes when just driving around and having a chill
2:12 Notice this transition very carefully. Listen to about 6 - 10 seconds while this transition is taking place. One of the best transitions in rap history in my humble oppinion
A producer whose name is Ruuben has contributed a lot to Gettomasa's songs and he has produced many Gettomasa's songs and made several beats as well. I think Ruuben has produced almost every Gettomasa's song but I am not fully sure about this.
Check out View - Spill ft. Noah Kin Noah Kin - 822 Noah Kin - The Void 🔥 also finns but rap in english.. imo so underrated. Finnish people don't give enough credit to English rapping finn artist
I contour that. even though I'm a metalhead, I really appreciate rap artists. Finland is becoming many, but a Finn rapping in English. Wow! I raise my hat, bow and even make a courtship. Those lines are incredibly good.
People try to translate "lössi" in to a word without explaining the message. The whole song is about representing countryside versus big city / helsinki capital. In Helsinki they just borrow english words or mix them in finnish (finglish) when in countryside you speak honest finnish and invent you own words. (Lössi vs gang)
You should really try Dilemma, and Song is mitä helvettiä teen tääl. Dilemma is soooo gooood with words, also all of his songs are amazing. My favourite is Toivo, made togerher with apulanta ❤️
"Lössi" means basically a group of friends that very close to you, kinda like your "homies that are near/close to you every day".. your home crew, best friends.. 😄
If you have listened Burna Boy and last years you have heard this producer before. He is Ruuben and was one of the producers in Love, Damini album. He is childhood friend of Gettomasa and has risen up from there. Just a little fact😂
You were pretty spot on guessing he was just talking his shit and how he always has his group behind him. He was also kinda dissing these finglish speaking "gang gang squad squad" type of rappers/people wanting to show off and faking the "high life"
The start of the song he's saying "The F (is) 'gang gang' 'squad squad'? It is my 'Lössi'". That and pretty much the whole song is sort of criticism towards anglicism and how some are taking influences abroad trying to have a 'gang' or 'squad' with maybe some more or less criminal or tough activities within the gang while his Lössi is just big group of people minding their own business: skating, playing PS and in general having good time. But should you challenge them, they don't care. He's rapping how 'your gang' or squad can be in disco playing tough and creme de la creme in the town with powders and stuff, but they don't care. They've got their Lössi and good time. And in the end he goes back to the lyrical criticism that he does not understand or care about having a 'squad' or 'gang', because he's got his Lössi
Gettomasa is one of my absolute favourites! I'd recommend to listen more, especially silmät - other songs from other artists id suggets are "JVG -mist sä tuut" (there are alot of feats), "avain - punainen tiili" (classic), "jami faltin - STILL TRE" , "Ruger hauer - marraskuu" and as a joker "OGUM - Ratasessarit" (spitting bars fast af.)
Great thing to know about finnish music, literally 99,99% of the finnish songs/rap lyrics can be found with english translations on the google and even if not the google translates most of the really well.
Listen amor 2.0 from justimusfilms its a finnins sketch trio but in that song there is some sick spitting. He really needs to start rapping more when the flow is that sick!
Go and check out Myrkkyä - Spekti. There is a stellar lineup that has some OG rappers and couple of younger ones too. Those verses are pretty damn tight!🔥
The beginning with the gang gang is translated as "yee.. what fucking gang gang squad squad??? Fuckin' clown it's my LÖSSI! And when I roll I have my LÖSSI (with me). Put +100 on the list 'cause I'm with my LÖSSI. 'cause if we roll up then I come with my LÖSSI" Breaking of the finglish words (when you make english a part of finnish) And making finnish his platform and giving finnish language an equavalent for slang such as gang gang or squad squad. Lössi= group of people (or in this case a trusted group of homies and their avecs) Meaning
DO ASA NEXT....lyrically/thematically very unique, one of the OG's in the game, also Ceebrolistics, different, originators, EuroCrack (Julma H & Koksu K, who is also part of Ceebrolistics, a rapper and a producer).
I’ve heard Latin scholars that insist that Finnish is the best language to translate poetry into, because of the declensions. 23 I believe (most likely under).
Gettomasa blew from winning the finnish freestyle battle championship like.. 2012? During 90s and 2000s it was straight up content, and meaning in your lyrics. That's it. Now there's this drill type of rap, melodic RnB type of rap.. Rap influenced by reggae.. But hiphop in general is very well represented in Finland, because people take their hiphop seriously. Breakdance, painting.. DJs.. All of it is well represented here. It is not just about rap. There are some real hiphop heads who are about the culture. There is an absolutely HUGE hiphop culture in Finland. It is probably one of the biggest sub-cultures in the country. You should react to hiphop from different eras, as there are times when people take hiphop more, and less seriously.. See you can be a rapper, but not consider yourself as a hiphop head.. Well.. you know what I mean. That topic has always been a thing here, so you really should consider that, when you react to finnish hiphop.

Lössi on kyllä stadinslangia. Ihan sitä oikeeta, eikä näitä nykysiä paskapuheita.
You should check the song "pelkuri", Gettomasa made 9min song for his abusive, alcoholic and narcissistic father. What a song to put out.
You should watch a video of the live performances, in my opinion Gettomasa’s performances are one of the best in Finland 👍

You were pretty spot on guessing he was just talking his shit and how he always has his group behind him. He was also kinda dissing these finglish speaking "gang gang squad squad" type of rappers/people wanting to show off and faking the "high life"
