So here's the fact of the matter as I was there: this was my first convention ever and when I found out it was coming to town I didn't hesitate because I found out that Neve Campbell was going to be there and Danny Trejo I couldn't miss it for the world so I attended and I was trying to dig in my brain to figure out why would she be doing this does this mean that she's going to continue and be in the new screams? But I realized a sad truth very quickly. I was speaking with someone who had attended all of these mad monsters in Arizona and they had told me that Nev was supposed to be there two years in a row and missed it as a matter of fact last year the entire cast showed up except her so she had to make it up to her fans and the sad truth is I believe she did this as one last farewell she realized that she didn't give the fans their due last time. If Neve really passed on this opportunity and is really that greedy for money, using the feminism card for a minimal amount of work, then that’s on her. I’ve been a fan of the Scream franchise since the very beginning. If Neve really passed on this opportunity and is really that greedy for money, using the feminism card for a minimal amount of work, then that’s on her. I mean she was supposed to have a bigger role in this film but I doubt she would’ve been in a myriad of scenes.
She’s lucky she’s been the leading lady since 1996 and the way Scream 2022 went down was perfect. Now she passed the torch to the next gen, which was long overdue. Therefore, there’s no more need for her to be in future films unless they have a really good script as far as the fans are concerned, otherwise she’ll want a shit load of money for that too just to act out the same cheesy ass lines over and over. Eventually it gets old and tired.
This wasn’t meant to be a Jamie Lee thing, where she keeps coming back all the time for almost every film, which actually can hurt the franchise. It’s time for something new otherwise it’s just the same shit on a loop.
If Wes was still alive as well as directing it, we wouldn’t be talking about it and she wouldn’t be passing on it regardless of money, guaranteed. The franchise is under new management, so she may be unhappy with that as well most likely, but she did this last one for Wes and the fans.
What else does she have to do right now? She only stars in that show The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix at the moment, which I guess is “good pay.” I was hoping for at least a cameo from her in Scream 6 but if it doesn’t happen then that’s fine no big deal, it’s time for something different and away from Woodsboro.
Do you know how many actors have done similar things Neve has? Who knows what’s really going on behind the scenes quite frankly and there are times the corporate media gets it wrong when it comes to reporting conflict or friction between an actor/actress and the studio. I get she released a statement, but again, who knows the real story is all I’m saying. Liam Neeson did a similar thing and literally denied he would return to the role of Qui-Gon Jinn for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and even insulted Disney in a joke saying they didn’t have enough money for an actor like him, then abra kadabra, he made a fucking cameo.
They could’ve paid her more instead of let her go entirely so that’s on Paramount too if that’s the gospel truth. Like I said, if she’s really not returning and it was truly about money, then that’s on her because she may never get an opportunity like that again and if she’s all about money then good luck getting the roles with the pay you’re looking for because I’m sure they’re tough to get. She’s lucky she has work right now.
I agree that it wouldn’t be much of a surprise since they could’ve did that with the last film so it serves no purpose to shock the fans this time around, but at the end of 5 before all the shit with 6 went down, it was crystal clear that even Sidney seemed like she was finished and this was her one last ride. As for her trashing Paramount, again you never know, celebs can say things just to stir the to make it seem like they’re not returning as other actors have done this. Not saying that’s the case here but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

I feel the next two maybe in parts. Part 1 we have another Ghostface doing their thing with the new cast and with Kirby, eventually leading to the killer being unmasked and a bigger reveal ending on a cliff hanger with Sydney showing up. Part 2 is Stu's alive blah blah stabby stabby all the survivors team up Gail dies the end :)

Part of me sort of hopes Sidney really is in the next film but this is going to just be a really well kept secret til release taking a cue from Spider-Man No Way Home’s success. Bringing back Kirby seems kind of pointless. I love her and Hayden, but if we are moving away from Sidney they should be moving away from every movie she was in instead of bringing in characters from 10+ years ago.
