To this day, I love how Luigi both hums and whistles the very music you hear in dark rooms and halls.
I just realized the ghosts do the same! Some amazing attention to detail in this game.

What a great achievement. Some of those ghosts like the guy in the cold storage are so impossibly hard but this legendary game is so easy to play again and again because of the quality and immersion.
And it's short enough that replaying it over again isn't too frustrating. I feel the same way about Wario World
@@anueutsuho7425 back in Luigi’s Mansion, Pauline’s sister, Daniella was in the DARK scariest hallways, and then she was just unable to get scared of the dark, so she started giggling softly in her hands, in the dark.
If you see this, you did a good job. I have a friend that made 100% perfect and it took him almost 3h30m to do it. He had trouble with only 1 part which is the boolosus. He saved before and restarted over and over until he got it. You made it seem too easy
His technique on Boolosus is something smooth indeed
The way you handle those ghosts, especially the boos are so marvelous. I don't think I've seen anyone play so smooth like you. Are you gonna play Luigi's Mansion Dark moon, too? I'd love to see your skill on that game and the upcoming part 3 of the series.

This game has the craziest realism. I don't even know if I can properly explain it, but the textures are so god damn good. They have this... tangibility. I think it has something to do with the really high contrast on elements.
I feel the same way too! For me it's the setting and colors of the mansion but music also plays a huge part. The mansion feels so lively and abandoned at the same time.
It's because the rooms are so small, it feels cramped and claustropbobic. The lighting also helpt to sell the atmosohere.

Still my favorite in the series by a country mile. There’s a lot of good to be said about the sequels expanding the gameplay by a huge margin but neither of them even attempt to match the groove, atmosphere, and character of the original

i'm not sure why i love this game so much more than newer nintendo games. this and super mario sunshine are i think where mario games peaked. this game in particular has dingy yellow lighting in lit rooms, coupled with textures and models that, although still fairly low-detail to save resources, are detailed and stylized enough to immerse the player in the mansion. i also think that the single environment of the original luigi's mansion was a much better decision than dark moon, it creates a much more cohesive aesthetic and inspires intrigue into this single, large environment. collecting the gemstones and portrait ghosts and boos really allow the player to feel a sense of tangible progress. there are also moments like at 12:43 where you can see other parts of the mansion in the background that you'll get to go to eventually. dark moon just felt more cartoony in general, and it had less collectibles and lower variety of ghosts.
No other Nintendo game will compare to this masterpiece. The absence of music, the cramped spaces, and the creepy main ghosts really make it walk the line of horror. This game used to spook me when I was a kid.
I must have played this game 50+ times, and I never knew about the blue ghost in the chair or scanning the cheese in the Father Ghost’s library. That blew my mind!

Awesome job you did for this playthrough. I did got the perfect score in this game one time but only one time. I did not feel doing it again. This was sure a fun game for the GameCube but I kinda like the 3ds port a bit more because of some of the new stuff they added in.
Was not expecting r pumping nor boolossus 1 cycle
I just watched the boss battles to see if it was possible to defeat them in one vacuum. Although that never happened, I must say that you make these bosses seem much easier than I remember. The best example was Boolossus, as it used to take me 5 or so minutes to beat him but you did it in less than one minute! Very impressive gameplay, never knew you could freeze all those Boos at once like that. You even managed to get an A Rank ending on the regular Mansion, which is something I always thought you could only achieve in the Hidden Mansion mode due to the extra money you can find.
You must be talking about the PAL version, which has a higher money requirement for A Rank than the version this guy is playing.
I actually want to see how he does in the PAL/3DS Hidden Mansion

The original was by far the very best of the trio. I also really did love the 3DS. Although not as immersive as the Gamecube version was, it added tons of new stuff, such as a new perfect score to achieve with the Hidden Mansion secrets, Platinum Portraits, an Achievements system, the use of Co-op with Gooigi, and a brand new S Rank Mansion to get, even more grand than the A Rank Mansion. Of course, this game would be even harder to achieve.
I'm not gonna lie I have to say that the first Luigi's Mansion is gotta be better than all the Luigi's Mansion games. The soundtracks and graphics in this game is just amazing whenever I am cleaning I put the End Credit Soundtrack to make me clean fast and better. The sound effects are just perfect. You only beated Boolussus with only 2 ice balls wow! It only took me 5 ice balls to beat Boolussus. Amazing 100% walkthrough💚👍

I have been playing this game for over a decade, I explored everywhere in the mansion leaving no stone unturned but its not surprising that you got an A rank, how to get one is easy when you know where to look but I could never deal with those ghosts like you did, I feel so jealous cause I still have trouble with Boolossus and Sir Weston but to you it was childs play.

Hey, thanks for the vid. Do you have any tips or advice for sir Weston? Can't seem to be able to catch him (with gold frame, I mean), and I've tried over 100 times. None of the other ghosts took me more than 5 tries, most of them I got them in 1. Getting quite desperate here XD
Yeah he is very hard because of the slippy ice floor. I trained the battle in the emulator with savestates very often to "understand" him. I think you should try it too and maybe you can understand him somehow like i did. It is more about to understand how the ice physics works and how you keep the track if he pulls you in different directions. I just tried to keep on the track by pushing the stick in the right moments very rough but idk how he works exactly. You only need to drain 90% in one suction for gold frames. To do it no damage and in one suction is way more difficult i think and i made it, so you will get the gold frame easily if you try it often enough :)
@@RetroArchive Thanks! I'm trying with savestates, I still haven't figured him out. I managed to catch him in one go one time, but it was kind of luck, and I haven't managed to repeat it. I can't figure out how to keep the track, it seems to break at such random times... I think I may be taking too long to suck him in. I'm managing to get him down to 30 most of the times, but getting under 25 is nearly impossible for me. Anyway, I guess I'll just keep trying until I figure it out... Perhaps I'm not using the c-stick right or something like that.

UPDATE: After an hour or so of trying, I just got the gold Boolossus portrait without using any ice balls. Still would like to know how to do it though.
Decided to try and get all gold portrait ghosts but Boolossus is super hard. I can't figure out how to aim and shoot the balls of ice like in your video. How do you do it? When I shoot a ball of ice I can't aim it, but instead he just shoots the ground.
10 months late but: You shoot the ice balls by pressing the trigger all the way down. So to aim them, you would lightly press the trigger, then aim, then when you want to fire, press the trigger all the way down until it clicks. If you're emulating, I believe there are two separate input options. So you could set a bumper to the "full" press of the trigger, and the actual trigger to maybe half-pressed.

Now that I think about it, King Boo was doing those ghosts a favor by freeing them. They just wanted to "live" in their mansion and chill, but E. Gadd wants to trap them all in paintings. King Boo was kind of the good guy in that regard.
Unfortunately, he also caused these ghosts to be captured by luring both Mario and Luigi in the haunted mansion.
While they did succeed in capturing Mario. Due to Luigi encountering E. Gadd, these ghosts were doomed the moment the encounter happened even though Luigi was the one who eventually released the Boos.
How TF did you get this good? I’ve played the full game quite a few times! And my best is a rank E at the end! Are you sure you’re not using a TAS?
I have a tip that can help you. Try to get at least 60,000,000 gold by the beginning of the 4th area. There are two golden diamonds that exist in the mansion. The first one is obtained by the plant that you first see in Area 2 where you fight Spooky. Make sure you water it after fighting Spooky and at the beginning of Areas 3 and 4 because it can reward you with that gem. The second is capturing all 50 boos in the mansion. Also try to find all or most of the Speedy Spirits and Golden Mice to help you reach 60,000,00G by the beginning of area 4, those 2 gems are guaranteed to get you the A rank. (or help you obtain S Rank if you are playing the 3DS Hidden Mansion. Also each Golden Diamond is worth 20,000,000G, and collecting both of them rewards you 40,000,000G)

Great technical walkthrough, but it's missing some details of the game. Like if you go to the Telephone Room in the blackout or showing the portrait ghosts' reactions to being photographed by the camera. Nothing massive, obviously, but stuff that makes the game a little more charming.
