I am 67 years old and a heavy consumer/ collector of rock psych music from 68 to 71 always have been with a few exceptions on either end of those dates. Thank you for your channel I have looked up many of the albums that you have featured and I have found some real gems. Your musical palette way way broader then mine a lot of the stuff that you claim is so good is awful. Just keeping it real my young brother. You remind me of my cousin he has a whole basement full of albums on shelves 80% of it I would have a disco night and blow it up metaphorically speaking. I know that crap has value to someone. Keep up the good work I do very much enjoy your knowledge about the albums.

Thanks man, just remember, just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean it’s crap or awful. I think if music can move you in any way it has value. Anyways, thanks for watching!

Killer showings as always my man!! That’s a wild algebra story that ties into the shirt lol! It’s cool to hear you’re going back and revisiting some horror classics…I’ll always remember that my coveted holy grail soundtrack Halloween came from Noble Records! Have you come across an OG since?
I’ve been unhappy with the corporate work life lately, and tracking your journey over the past few years has motivated me to take charge of my destiny and open a record store someday. So thanks, man 🕺🏻😎

I can’t remember who said this, but a theory on how to quickly judge a record shop is to go straight to Harvest by Neil Young and see what they’re selling it for. Every shop has second hand copies of that, and you’ll know straight away what kind of place it is and what kind of prices to expect just from that one LP.

Maybe, but the first press work textured cover is worth a lot more than the subsequent pressings, also those vary a lot in condition. So we price ours between $5 and $45 depending on pressing and condition.

That shirt is a keeper for life , as a reminder. Love to see more of those 45s, they looked pretty rare.

I still have the T-Shirt from my 1st (unsupervised) Stadium Concert, Simple Minds in Croke Park, Dublin, Ireland 1986.
Also playing on the day was The Waterboys, In Tua Nua, Lloyd Cole & The Commotions, and Blue In Heaven.
How I was able to get away-with getting through Securities and buying Pints at the Bars, seeing as I was only 16 years old at the time... different times I guess, things we could get away with with drink in Ireland !
I also have an original of The Cure "Boys Don't Cry Tour" T-Shirt from 1986. A very short Cure Tour. There are alot of copies of that T-Shirt, but none come even nowhere near matching the original in it's subtle colouring.
So Yes... I have a collection of T-Shirts. I often use to buy Gig T-Shirts if I just enjoyed a band, back in my early days. And, I like to 'break them in' to a wearable state of Worn, but not Worn-Out. I do care how I wash them when it's done intermittently.
Oh... well I also worked as a Stage Crew for Stadium Concerts, so also have a bunch of Crewing T-Shirts from some of my Jobs. Then I moved more into some of the Festival Circuit Setups.

more fire! I did not know about that Bill Stone "reissue" missed it. Would've definitely gone for it, and should've ponied up for the original I had a chance at. Was pretty cheap all things considered. The Drag City version sounds great though, a real amazing one.

a few years back I found a copy of that After All record at a Flea Market for a dollar, which didn't know what it was just the album was too badass to pass up was still in the shrink and the record was mint...which as you say in the video, ended up having to sell it for quick cash for some bills💔 at the time was hard to part but still hold the fondness of finding it and discovering great music

Never get rid of that shirt - it is basically a trophy! I loved that story. Good thing you saved the homework. This is why I save every receipt, haha. And NSU is a cool album. I learned about it from a guy who studied abroad in the UK in 1977 and scored a copy from a discount bin, where there was like a whole bunch of copies! I think he got his copy of Andromeda the same way. Amazing how things have changed.

That's a great story about Algebra. Sometimes they have mercy and let you pass. When I was 15 a friend and I would visit a friend who was a tutor at the university. He had the only copy of Ride the Lightening in town. He'd mark calculus papers while we went nuts listening to the record. Those students got good marks because he was in a good mood when he marked the papers.
I failed calculus 3 times in my degree, it was a first year paper lol. In my defense I had to write a 10,000 word essay in the same 6 week module. I failed that too.

Azar Lawrence is a great one. Bunch of Brazilian players on that. I bought because of Dom Salvador on piano, most of the jazz and funk albums he did in 60s/70s in Brazil is killer and pricey. I came across a PJ Proby record last week and it has Led Zeppelin basically as the backup band. I am sure you are aware but thought about you since you are a Zep collector. Thanks for the video. Cheers!

My wife taught transitional kindergarten for 18 years. They weren't supposed to let the boys pretend to shoot each with sticks on the playground. She also declared that if you don't let the boys do that, they will bite their graham crackers into the shape of guns and shoot each other at the lunch table. Good video. I hope you are well. BTW, I got out of high school without ever passing Algebra I.

Thanks for another great video. How's your son been doing on the MOOG ? Give us some updates. Been playing some of your old heavy rotations recommendations. Today was Thunder and Roses, Shotgun Ltd, Grannie, Sir Lord Baltimore,May Blitz and The Nitliters-Different Strokes (Awsome Hair). I would have never heard of any of these bands without your channel, much appreciated brother. Lookin forward to more videos.

Out of curiosity, when you describe stuff as clean or super clean what sort of grading is that - maybe vg+ for clean and nm for super clean? Do you have a rule for what standard stuff has to be for you to keep it? I like strong vg+ at least for the record itself but break that rule regularly if it’s something special

  • @cheapcheerfulrecordcollect8071

Was in a shop the other day and they had a David Grisman album I wanted. However they priced it at $28 and Discog med was $10. I would have paid $12 or $15, but more than double. I don’t think so. Everybody thinks they have gold when it’s really only brass.

    Happy record store day NOT
I purchase the never b4 heard Bob marley 7 stir it up rare unheard track jamaican mix right went everywhere to obtain a copy I'm in Australia so it wasn't easy
My grip is since I've bought it this track stir it up has been the subject of hoffman forum etc people been saying it's not real it's possibly AI or players on instruments are not peter or bunny or barrets on bass drums
Possibly could be a early Nash demo 72
There's no info on the sleeve about this mix which suxs
So if this mix is not real this is what record store day has come to putting out fake tracks it's not nessacery as there's plenty rare tracks in vaults to make plenty albums of marley and wailers
I paid 43 bucks for a 7 inch if it's not real we are all getting screwed
Love to get some feedback on this opinions be .ost appreciated

That is one advantage of the Internet, you can show the store that their prices are way over market rates . Pre Internet there was no way of knowing, or with much degree of accuracy, the market rate of a vinyl. I'd never go to your store as you charge 6.99, not 7, no time for this approach, not cool at all!
