    How do you folks keep your z-ment, or tying glue of choice from gluing itself shut??

      Put a dab of Vaseline on the threads and screw the cap on.

      I've had this issue before, I've noticed that if you make a stand for the superglue so it never tilts or goes upside down, it will last a bit longer. Right now I'm using a stand from just a small cardboard box with a hole in one side. Hope this helps

      @@dannym30 do you dab the Vaseline on every time you use it?

      @HalfInsaneOutdoorguy no I do it once every few months I'd say. Once it starts looking like it's starting to build up gunk on it I wipe the lid and tip clean then reapply a new dab

      Dubbing wax on the threads works well

    The Squimpish material I purchased from an online fly shop doesn't seem to be the same quality as what you're using. My materials are not as consistent in length and texture. I have had to pluck out a lot of crinkled fibers. I'm not a fan of this stuff.

    Could see this fly being killer on pike and musky in some different colors!

    I typically prefer bucktail for my streamers because I fine it fouls less than synthetics. I'm going to try this method with craft-fur on smaller sized clousers for bass and panfish. Thanks for posting this Tim!

    Very nice variation on the fly. But, hey Danny, just don’t mix up the petroleum jelly and super glue when you put them away, that could lead to other things being super glued together…

    I will definitely be tying some of these for inshore striper fishing!
    Thank you for such great videos.

    Halfway through I was thinking this is the weirdest way to tie a clouser I've ever seen. Looks the goods though...

    Good looking fly. Thanks for the pattern and instruction. That Squimpish material seems very expensive ($11) for what appears to be a not-so-generous amount in the package. How many of this size Clouser Minnow might you expect to tie with a single package of each color (olive and white)?

    • @tightlinevideo
      @tightlinevideo  Рік тому

      I initially thought the same thing, but there is more material in each package than it looks and you generally don't use too much for a fly. The other thing to keep in mind is its cost compared to a bucktail with the same length fibers (if you can find one). Plus the fact that you can't use all the hair on a bucktail either. As far as how many Clousers you can get out of a single package, just a guess would be about 2 dozen.

    What color assortment would you recommend, beyond the white and olive, for an initial purchase of the Squimpish material?

    • @tightlinevideo
      @tightlinevideo  Рік тому +3

      This is just me personally, everyone has their own preferences. I really like Squimpish's "Boutique Blends" mainly because of the added bit of flash. For colors, gotta have the White Sparkle Blend and the Olive. Then add Chartreuse, Neon Black, Tan and Yellow. If you are targeting Weakfish/Speckled Trout, Pink is a must. Hope this helps.

      Thank you! My saltwater fishing is mainly the Texas Gulf coast; redfish, specks, and whatever else is 20-100 feet from the beach. So this should be a good start on colors. Appreciate it!
