Hi Tim: Thank you so much for featuring my fly. At last count it has taken 96 different species of fish and hopefully it will help other anglers catch some big fish.
Definitely pick up a copy of Stu's book! So many great fly patterns. Stu is one of the kindest, most generous fly fishers I've ever met and his DDH leech catches everything! I'd definitely recommend grabbing some of Stu's Darkwater dubbing, it's great stuff.
That's a cool pattern. I have begun using different points on my vise to measure proportions as well. I have also started to use the number of lead wraps on my nymphs to inform me of a deadly accurate tie in point for wing cases so as to maintain that sexy consistency..
It’s hard to imagine a leech looking pretty, but this one does look pretty. Vocabulary question- is “yoke wrap” your personal term? I call it a “cradle wrap,” since I didn’t know an established term for this type of wrap.
Great looking fly! Also, I can no longer cement the head of a fly without saying to myself "Here, Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails" every single time.
😂

Fished Lockport today and got my first cat
Didn’t have DDH on me unfortunately

Stu is a great man. His book is excellent too.
Thank you for sharing this awesome pattern. So many color options for multiple species.
Nice Douglas plug! I love my Douglas rods!!
Excellent job on the fly as well as channeling your inner Dr. Seuss around the 4:50 mark.
I’ve meet stu on multiple occasions and can say he is an absolute amazing person to talk with and he is one of the best fly designers I’ve known
Thank you for another great video. Can’t wait to try and tie some of these up.

Grip the slips with the chip clip! Love it.
Great video and a simple, fun fly. Tied some for Florida bass with a weed guard. This would be a goo tie-off fly with Tom Rosenbauer. Thanks.
Thanks Tim👍
Classic fly!
Using a clip .
Thank you very much .

I tie something similar to this, except I throw some rubber legs on behind the eyes for added movement

Ann you suggest the materials used for the other colors you showed

Loop knot is not good for up eye hook.
Why not? I’ve used it for years without a problem.
