- I got my Eastman T486B a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't be more happy with the guitar. It plays like a dream, was set up by the shop perfectly when they sold it to me, and it sounds incredible. Checkout Sunrise Guitars in Fayetteville, AR at the following link:

I've just purchased my first Eastman - a T486GB - and I agree with all of your comments. It's a guitar that's been built with love and attention to detail. If I were in charge of Gibson I'd look to acquire Eastman, put them in charge of production and hand over the reigns.
Noooooooo! Gibson would reduce QC and charge 3500.00! Stay away from Gibson!
Very informative review and demo. Nice job!
For price/quality and just a nice instrument on any level, Eastman delivers. I own several acoustics. I find that their design incorporates many details that add up to a superior end product no matter what model.
And guitar manufacturing is not their main line of musical instruments, if you can believe it!
I have owned, sold and traded several Gibsons. "For the pice", Gibsons are absolutely dismal in terms of QC, fit and finish. The quality of build, fit and finish of Eastman is just stellar. I have the Eastman T486B in Goldburst. Gibson isn't even in the same league.
I've changed the Humbucker on my Eastman T 486 . Now, with the Gibson 490R & T Humbucker, it's a perfect guitar. The Replacement was easy. Seymour Duncan and Gibson have different colour codes for the cables.
did you ever play the epiphone inspired by gibson es355? wondering which to get
where i live cant try in person
Just picked one up for $850. Near mint with plastic still on the case handle 😳… I can’t wait to play it!!!
Also, many players prefer the Collins I35 laminate over the solid. It’s just better IN THIS REGARD. 🤷♂️
I’m going to put TV Jones Powertrons 😎
I got the exact guitar at Sunrise as well
Hey Evan, new subscriber...
Found you because of the T486B which I'm besotted with right now. Been struggling with the colours because I didn't think I liked the Classic-CLA (lots of photos on Reverb make it look like a crazy cherry tiger), I find the Red quite garish, and I can't find a Goldburst in Canada.
But looking at yours, I'm starting to warm towards the CLA. It just looks amazing. I also found your unboxing video, and was waiting with bated breath and a racing heart as you opened that case...
So I think you might have convinced me to take the plunge on a Classic. From watching your unboxing "Where I have been" video to the end, I feel like you're the kind of guy I'd be confident in taking advice from. Peace!
Keep the content coming!
Thank you, Martin, for this super thoughtful comment. Yeah, I really love the color on it! I thought the same of the straight red. It’s one reason I haven’t been interested in a lot of other 335 styled guitars.
I, too, was really excited about unboxing the Eastman. Way more excited than some of the other guitars I have picked up recently. It plays incredibly. Other than the weight (which may just be me nitpicking and comparing to my Epi Casino), I can’t imagine many reasons not to like it! Cheers!
I have a lefty T486 like the one in my avatar (a Heritage H355 I sold)...the flame red is gorgeous...go see Jerry's Lefty site...he has tons of high-high def photos of Eastmans...Best guitar I've owned to date.... Love my SB59 Goldtop too. Got my T486 last year shipped and taxed for only $1100...a steal!
@@lazvt8469 Nice - they are some great photos on Jerry's site. I ended up ordering a Classic T486B. I'm in Canada so I didn't get quite as good a deal as you, but I was pretty happy. Supposed to arrive in early January.
@@md1967gb Great...you will love it...mine came with SD 59's...and it fills the room with great tone...especially the neck pup....which historically, I seldom use. Cheers from WV.

Great post & great playing Sir.
Have you had the Eastman for long?
Would you (yikes/gasp) get another should something unfortunate happen to yours?
Is there anything that you DO NOT like about it?
I ask because I have only recently come across Eastman Guitars and I believe I need one.
Like really need one. 🤣
Like you said, I am looking for one with tremolo as well and am seriously considering putting down a deposit come months end.
Thank You for your consideration Sir.
Keep the great posts coming please.
Kindest regards,
David
Oh yah….PS
I am wishing you a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and all of your loved ones.
It seems no one wants to demo this guitar clean. Sad.
They've raised the price by 1 to 2 hundred dollars in a year.
Eastman made their bones making violins...then they move to guitars. They make their own product with their name on the headstock and it shows. They are not making some other companies overseas guitars. I have a T486 and it is great. I want to try one of their acoustics...
Eastmans' Mandolin line is very well respected among Country and Bluegrass professionals as well.
You can't compare the resonance of a complete hollow Epi Casino to a semi hollow 335 type model. 🤣
Of course the hollow body will have more acoustic power. That's it's strength but also it s weakness (if driven harder).
I do own an Epi Dot as well (also semi hollow) and then the Eastman is more resonant. Better woods, better quality laminate.
Very true
