Disneyland-Pirates Caribbean. 1991.

"Yo ho a pirates life for me!"
This is one of my earliest Pirates of the Caribbean, at the end of the ride they have a pirate that sits on some Gun Powder Barrels shooting at the other Pirates.
He is no longer there, newer Pirates took his place then they were removed to put in Captain Jack Sparrow.
This is the whole ride on Dec 31. 1991.

I wish the harpsichord still sounded like that and the skeleton on the pile of gold would still look like that, I grew up with the captain jack sparrow version but I wish I could see the original

The captain on the ship use to cast a shadow of Mickey on the sails. Best hidden mickey ever. There's a video on here on youtube of disneyland's 10th anniversary and it shows the original version of the ride, it looked amazing.

Thats a cool story, I always felt he would fall off his barrel on top of me!
Or he would shoot the barrel of TNT and it would explode, I was just a kid at the time!

That part with the female castmember was funny. And it sure is good you taped the ride throughout the years, especially to those who wish for the nostalgia of it before Captain Jack took over. You're lucky to have even gotten footage of the old chase scene pirate and the guy teetering on the barrels before they replaced him. Good close up of the old pirate captain.

Every time I went to Disneyland I had a camcorder I always taped the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, they have taken away some old pirates and have added new pirates and they have changed the ending of the ride scene at least 3 times with the teetering pirate on the barrels to two pirates dragging a treasure chest up the waterfall and now it's Jack Sparrow siting in his chair Toasting and singing, Many changes and I have most of them on video!

Would have been funny if one of the pirates dragging the treasure had said, "We're going to need a bigger boat".

InvaderPet Yes there was, she is in the video but it is too dark to see her!
If you check out my 1990 video, you can see her better for only a second or two!
