It is so satisfying to see so many younger people appreciating Saves the Day. There music really is so important
Still one of the best albums ever. For some strange reason, this album and Get Up Kids’ “Four Minute Mile” were at my local library to be checked out. So I thank the fact I liked reading when I was a kid for getting me into such great music. And shouts out to the Lewisville Public Library for having such banging music to be checked out.

Every time I listen to this song, I have the best memories. My great friend loved it. He said we were the ocean and fire. We must have been, because 20 years later I always think of him when I play this song. The whole album is completely solid though.

We were fortunate.
I never really cared for Saves The Day, but when I heard this album I couldn't get over how genius the lyrics are. Much different than a lot of their other stuff (from what I remembered) and that's what really pulled me in. Then I learned later that Chris Conley had started taking some creative writing classes and started to really experiment with his words/lyrics. No wonder. Brilliant stuff.

Never really cared for Saves the Day until you realised the lyrics were genius due to partaking creative writing classes? This is from their second album. He was 19 when it was released.
@@grantkerr8298 Yeah, I didn't care for their first album so I never bothered following their career. I heard a few other songs from their other albums, but none from Through Being Cool until one summer when my cousin played "Rocks Tonic Juice Magic", I was shocked at how dope the song was, so I downloaded the album, at that time the album was already 6 or 7 years old. I was blown away by it. Then later I saw an interview with Chris and he explained his writing process for this particular album, so it made sense why his lyrics (for me) were so much better.

I'm 22 and I found saves the day probably close to a year ago with "You Vandal" and then I found the band You Vandal lol. Considering burnout 3 was the Genesis of my music tastes, I'm surprised I never heard them when I was younger.

@@hbombdaboss97 same, I'm looking to get a Mark V 35 which has that sound I'm looking for which is similar to this. In the meantime I use amplitube 5 which has boogie amps that get pretty close.

@@hbombdaboss97 i have a fender deville, all it can achieve is alt rock which is still great. But with a mesa/boogie i can achieve a hi-gain mid ranged punk and metal tone.

I honestly avoided these guys for years, mostly because I hate New Found Glory (whom they used to come up in conversation with). Decided to take the plunge after all these years, and I'm just saddened I didn't earlier.
Also, "Through Being Cool' is an awesome album title.

I've never understood why the lyric in the 4th line should be, "Cause I can say tonight is I hate you,” but he sings, "Cause all I can say to right/ write/ rite is I hate you,". Did he mean to? I can imagine he would. Was it a production error? Why didn't they do another take? Or have I just been hearing it wrong for the last 22 years?
