Thanks for all of your videos Amani. I was able secure a backpacking permit for Eagle Lakes this weekend and went with my 6 year old. We were by the inlet on the left and caught 10 total, 6 brown and 4 rainbow, all about 14-16 inches. Great time and you video helped a lot.
Cool. I was planning to head up there myself. Great you took your 6 year old there. Good spot because it's an easy hike and the kid won't get shocked by a harsh trail. Glad you got into some good action.
It's really nice up there. I was glad to make it up before the snow falls this week. I definitely want to head back up to Dick's Lake up above when the snow clears out. I have more Desolation Wilderness content on my 'backcountry lakes and creeks' and 'hiking and backpacking' playlists if you haven't seen it and are interested. Thanks for tuning in.
I'm telling you! I fished jigs in the West Walker River for "Wilderness with Amani Patreon" and I hit 2 big rainbows in the first half hour. Tried and true!
@@fishingtimeletsgo598 I like any 1/8 OZ Marabou jig I can get that isn't a bright color. I actually got that big brown in my clip "big brown and site clean up..." on a brown VMC jig. I simply have a lot of Roadrunner jigs right now because they are only a couple bucks apiece. I like the really cheap marabou crappie jigs bass pro shops sells in 10 packs. They are just always out of black. I like jigs that are black or darker earth tones. Black is the most readily available color so that's why I use it all the time. Regardless of the brand, getting the jig where it needs to be is what counts the most!
Amani, thanks for taking us to Eagle Lake. Those that are landlocked here in Sacramento Valley. LOL. Love your enthusiasm brother. Keep on fishing and sharing. Thanks again!
I was there last year during the 4th of July weekend. Fished that exact spot. Caught 8 on Panther Martin lures and rooster tails. Can't wait to go back.
beautiful browns, Amani........! hey I'm curious what you use to edit your vids? With the winter storm weather rolling in this weekend, what areas will you target for your next fishing outings and videos? Thanks for braving the frigid sierras with a smile and a laugh to catch some fish on celluloid, brother!
I use the old 'GoPro Studio'. It's outdated and unsupported but I know how to use it! I shoot everything on a GoPro Hero Black 5. I was glad to get in there and get some fish before the snow hits. I was a little sketched when I saw that ice on a lot of the lake but it worked out.
I'm not sure where I'm going next week on my days off. I don't want to deal with chain control back ups on highways and the filming is tough with any kind of precipitation so I will try to figure something out. Probably come down to the hourly forecast right before to see if there are a couple of windows of decent weather I can squeeze some fishing into and create some content. .
Man today was hella cold!! I went out to Pyramid and spent pretty much all day there. Had to layer up a few times. Hope you’re staying warm out there Amani!
@@wildernesswithamani1027 talk about timing!! I’m planning on going to Chimney beach later this month. Your Christmas fishing video is something I want to start doing. Thank you for inspiring me with that!

Nice to see it's still there and pumping out fish! A lot of the good fishing in Desolation is under attack because of the Yellow Legged Frog. Glad to rekindle those warm memories.
I use braided line for my leader when I'm trolling lead core but other than that, I typically stick with 6lb mono. Braided line is tough to deal with tangles!
I was pushing it! When that wind started gusting it was freezing. I got out before the rain fell though. It was pouring as I was driving out of the Emerald Bay area!
I ve been up there ,that fish is a whole different species of trout ,they live inalkaline waters ....I didnt think any thing else lived in those waters..I am I confused, well it wont be the first time!!..Wrong lake?
It's coming. Were behind but we should get 5 or 6 days in the next couple weeks. Fingers crossed! Man, I just got out of there before it started pouring!
I often keep fish when I have an ice chest and I'm fishing in Tahoe or reservoirs during the colder months. I just wanted to get out of there before the rain started coming down! It was pouring as I was driving out of Emerald Bay!
@@wildernesswithamani1027 It certainly was a beautiful rain that day! Is Boca, Stampede or Prosser cracking right now? Lol. Can we catch the big fish like you do during this time of year? Thank you for responding! Love your channel! 👍
It's a designated wilderness area. You can't develop any of it, have anything with wheels (Motorized or not), can't harm it in any way. Kind of like a National Park or monument only it is Wilderness. No roads. I hike in a lot of them on my Hiking playlist. Ansel Adams Wilderness, John Muir Wilderness, Hoover Wilderness, and so on. Basically they're wild, protected areas.
