Re: People leaving the theater.
My friends and I went to see this in the theater. This lady comes in and sits behind us with 3 kids, the oldest was maybe 11. We tried to explain to her that this was not a movie for kids and she became indignant and yelled at us for a couple of minutes.
They left about 30 seconds into "Uncle Fucker".
This is the only movie I've been to TWICE in the theater.
And that lady was dumb!!
Same experience, when I saw it a mom brought her kid in and I think everybody else was side-eying her until the song kicked in and they left.
That's AWESOME.
Same. A couple families with young kids who left about five minutes in.
Same. Friends and I had just graduated high school and went to see this.
Had an older couple bring what I think was their grandchildren to see it. We tried to explain the situation, and to their credit, they didn’t get annoyed.
But they did leave about the same time the song was in full swing.
I love that "Blame Canada" was nominated for an Oscar. And at that time, the Oscar's always had live performances of the Oscar nominated songs during the show. That year Robin Williams performed "Blame Canada". It's awesome, and you should look it up!
Trey and Matt also mentioned their whole time at the Oscars, they were STONED AF (although their choice of wearing gowns was "sober")
@@van8ryanclarification: they were tripping on LSD. Legends. Lol.
@van8ryan which got them a lifetime ban and their future works a denial of consideration
Thanks, had to pause this reaction and look it up, it was worth it!
And I love that they made fun of Phil Collins for winning for “that damn monkey song” in a later episode. They wouldn’t have made fun if Randy Newman, Diane Warren, or Aimee Mann won. ONLY if it was Phil Collins. Lol
I’m an American. My wife an I were on vacation in Vancouver when the movie opened. The Canadian audience didn’t leave, they roared.
Yea they have a sense of humor. That's great to hear!
OMG, yes. I'm a Torontonian and I saw it when it was released, with a friend who was a big South Park fan. (I hadn't really watched the show.) The theater was packed, and we were roaring with laughter. It never occurred to me to be offended, because in my opinion it was the Americans in the movie that looked bad.
"Don't trust anything that bleeds for 5 days & doesn't die"
Best line in the movie.
That line was ripped off of the Roy "Chubby" Brown movie U.F.O.
@@user-fh6mc9du5n No, that one has been around for at least a century, as any sexist uncle fker of a certain age could tell you.
The reveal of Kenny's face and voice was a big deal, as it had never been done to that point. And the person who voiced unmuffled Kenny was Mike Judge, creator of Beavis And Butthead.
Judge had a few years of having a controversial cartoon on the air when South Park started to gain traction and he gave the creators some friendly advice early on.
Beavis And Butthead was wrapping up their first run on MTV while South Park was gaining ground.
Speaking of Beavis & Butt-Head, it would be nice if Simone and George could react to one of the movies (or both of them)
Can't believe there was ever a time that I used to hate on King of the Hill.
Parker and Stone have said in interviews that Mike Judge was an inspiration to them.
Judge did Daria too right? I know her first appearance was on B&B.
George Clooney legit helped get this show into production when it was still a pilot.
And voiced a gay dog, which only barked.
And then they shit on his Oscar speech and they never spoke again
@@DanJackson1977
To be fair they s**t on everybody equally including Scientology while Isaac Hayes was still playing chef.
The real hypocrisy is people like Hayes who stayed through every other joke but drew the line at Scientology being mocked.
@@mnomadvfxFalse.. Stop spreading misinformation.. Issac Hayes was very sick at the time, and someone from his team backed out of South Park after the Scientology Epsiode. It had nothing to do with him at all. This stuff was cleared up a very long time ago
@@DanJackson1977 100% false. Clooney thought it was hilarious and has said numerous times that he'd be more offended if they didn't make fun of him. They're good friends to this day.
Fun fact: the original title was going to be "South Park: Hell Freezes Over" but the MPAA would not let them use the word "Hell" in a cartoon. Matt and Trey flippantly said 'How about 'Bigger, Longer, and Uncut'"? and were told that was okay because none of those words were banned. They immediately contacted the studio and told them to begin the marketing before the MPAA realized they let them get away with making the title into a dick joke.
What's awesome is that they did it again with Fractured but Whole
I love the contrast between Simone’s shocked horror and George nearly passing out from laughter at the rimjob joke. 😂😂😂
Great reaction George and Simone!
FUN FACTS: South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut intentionally went up to using 399 swear words because the MPAA would have given the film an NC-17 rating if at least 400 swear words were used in the film.
Adding to that.. In the Guinness World Records 2001, this film was said to have the most profanity used in an animated film. The book cited a total of 399 swear words, including 146 uses of the word "f***," along with 199 offensive gestures and 221 acts of violence.
The song "Blame Canada" was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original song, but lost to Phil Collins song "You'll Be in my Heart" from Disney's Tarzan (1999) This led to numerous jabs at Phil Collins during season 4 of South Park.
So that’s why they had Phil Collins Hill and had Phil Collins be the “boring” singer the kids liked when they were on Ritalin…
@@RandomNonsense1985 Exactly, now I love both songs. But I felt Parker and Stone were robbed of that award.
Jack Valenti, who was then head of the MPAA, absolutely hated Parker and Stone.
@@richardb6260 After learning that Parker and Stone and their company had intentionally gone almost one step close to getting an NC-17 rating deliberately.. I can kinda see the reason for the hate.. but then again.. lets be honest.. I'm sure the two got more than enough hate to go around throughout all South Parks run
During Cartman's famous song "Kyle's Mom's a Bitch", Cartman says the word 'bitch' a total of 56 times.
“Can I finish? Please can I finish? …. Okay I’m finished.”
Kills me every time.
I quote this every time Im in an argument 😂
The fact that you two are actual Canadians reacting to this movie is the ultimate icing on the cake. 🎂 🇨🇦
Fun fact: Brian Boitano really liked the song about him and is a fan ever since, he made a funny video back in 2007 in which he congratulated the creators for the release of the 200th episode, he runs a cooking show called "what would Brian Boitano do?" And for a while even used his south park alter ego as a profile pic on twitter.
Another fun fact (but this is an unconfirmed urban legend): Saddam watched the movie and hated it, during his imprisonment they forced him to watch it in loop
He was even a guest judge on Hell's Kitchen, and Gordon Ramsay made a joke about finding out what Brian Boitano does when introducing him, haha.
Saw this movie at the theater when it came out. It was offensive, vulgar, immature and shocking. We loved every second of it.
Same here. Me and my friend had to watch it with his mother bc they wouldn't sell us tickets without her. We were 16 at the time and we laughed so frigging hard. Even his mother who usually hates vulgar stuff laughed really hard a few times.
Yeah, everyone was dying in their seats from laughter.
Absolutely
Seeing this in theaters must have been something special. I'd love if they did an anniversary re-screening of it, since my little ass was only 3 at the time.
It warped my fragile little mind, lol
8:04 Yes! That is George Clooney voicing the doctor. When I learned about it, I was surprise not only because it was Clooney, but he was one of their first celebrity voice guests when he voiced Stan’s dog.
Simone's face just falling on the rim job explanation was pure gold 😂
The last line in Blame Canada is one of my favorite parts of this movie.
"We must blame them and cause a fuss
Before somebody thinks of blaming us!"
Remember when some conservative people tried to sue Judas Priest because a kid killed himself?
They're not even a real country anyway
That is legit accurate.
The picture above Satan's bed was Skeet Ulrich... An actor from the original movie "Scream"
I thought he looked familiar 😂
Dang it! I was just about to tell them!
I love seeing people react to this movie who haven’t seen South Park before and take Kenny’s death 100% seriously, not knowing that he dies in basically every episode
I was a manager at a theater chain called Regal Cinemas in northeast Ohio when this movie came out. My primary role was the "booth manager". This meant that I got to build and put together the multiple 35mm reels to form the movie and screen every movie on the Thursday night before the Friday premier to the public. I was already a South Park fan at the time, so I already knew this was going to be rated R for a reason. Understand, that this was before the internet as we know it today. Info was not that easily accessible. We spent the first morning on that Friday creating and printing multiple flyers to be posted all over the theater (especially at the front box office), informing customers that this is not a cartoon for kids. And yet, we had so many mothers and grandmothers and parents bringing in their 7-year olds, thinking this was a Disney movie or something. I had to give out so many refunds, lol.
Simone's reactions were just priceless, her joy at a couple of the songs when she tried not to laugh, and the shock at a couple of the jokes, while George just exploded with laughter....
Thank you so much for such a wonderful reaction
All their songs are legitimate bops. Anyone with an iPod probably had half of these songs on there. If not the whole movie, later on.
Simone! You nailed the art style perfectly at 2:00 "the pilot was animated using construction paper and other cheap art supplies." Trey Parker and Matt Stone are the minds behind South Park, but they joined forces with Robert Lopez (co-wrote songs for Frozen and Frozen II) to make a Broadway play "The Book of Mormon", that went on to win 9 Tonys.
I think funnier, when the show got picked they moved away from doing it by hand, but wanted to maintain the look, so they found the one program that would let them do that, Maya. Yes, the animation program used by Pixar, ILM and other big studios to do amazing, photo-real visual effects, is the same one used to show a clitoris and saddam wagging a dildo around. lol
Fun Fact: Mary Kay Bergman voiced The Clitoris. I believe she went under the name "Shannon Cassidy" during her work with South Park, since most of her other notable roles are for Disney and other children's media. She actually voiced most of the female characters in South Park until her passing in '99. She was also the original voice of Timmy Turner in the "Oh Yeah!" shorts before it got picked up as Fairly Oddparents.
Rest in peace to her 😢
I always thought that was like a weird reference to Neverending story's Vetusta Morla or other weird animatronic movies of the 80's
was waiting for someone to mention this. RIP. I wish she had sought help instead of bottling it all inside. We could still be hearing her today.
I like Tara Strong's voice as Timmy better.
Wasn't she also the OG voice of Daphne from Scooby-Doo?
I love that the last line in "Blame Canada" is "We must blame them and cause a fuss before somebody thinks of blaming us!"
Every time there's a mass shooting in America, republicans adopt the same stance, look for something else to blame rather than deal with the problem.
I was 13 or so and actually saw this in theaters. I can tell you, from experience, that, yes, people _literally_ got up and walked out of the movie during Uncle Fucker. At least 3 or 4 people, from what I can remember.
It's a cherished memory. lol
For the origin of the Brian Boitano joke you need to watch the cartoon that started it all, "The Spirit of Christmas." And yes, he was really really famous. We idolized our Olympic champions back then, as it was pushed on us by one of the four big channels.
It's a perfectly fine film if Simone can laugh at the "bleed five days and not die" joke and George can laugh at the chinese song parody bits.
18:01 Simone's face tightens into anger while George loses it.
They got the ViewMaster joke!!!!! I would have guessed that would be a generation gap.
Winona Ryder wasn't particularly loved or hated? She just was involved in minor shoplifting incidents despite being a millionaire so you could imagine she'd do something as random as ping pong ball tricks?
So many good songs in this movie.
To add, Alien Resurrection had come out around 2 years before this movie did, which Winona Ryder starred in. Considering the reception of that movie, that's one other reason they may have felt like ragging on her.
Who idolized Olympic champions? 😂 I'd never heard of the guy before South Park made him relevant.
I think Winona Ryder could have been any random actress. The joke was more about the famous person apparently shooting ping pong balls from her pussy because of the "camera shot" (despite there being no camera of course)
The ping pong ball joke was about a lewd kind of cabaret act performed with ping pong balls in Vietnam when US war was happening. It became legendary, a bit like the Mexican dancer/prostitute and donkey meme.
I think Winona was kind of "Americas Sweetheart" at the time, had a lot of hit movies.
Pretty sure the picture above Satan's bed is Skeet Ulrich. (he has a bit part in the movie "As Good As It Gets", which is a MUST see if you haven't already)
The V-chip was a proposed bit of hardware which was going to be put into media devices to block programs based on the programs ratings.(Just did a quick google and apparently they are implemented in TVs in the US and Canada)
Ryder's shoplifting incident occurred a couple years after this movie was released. In '99, she still would have had her waifish, wholesome image; the last person you'd think of to do the ping pong ball bit. (And remember how that gag ends; the vulgarity came from our own minds.)
I was 16 when I saw this in a very crowded theater. One of the greatest times I've ever had in a theater. By the end, our faces were sore from the constant laughter and smiling. Watching you guys reacting brought it all back. Thanks a bunch, "hmm kayyy."
I'm about 20 years older than you and I laughed just as hard. So much in fact that I actually fell out of my seat at least once. Remember how topical some of it was? This was back before South Park could put out a even a topical TV episode as quickly as they got a reputation for a few years after that, but it seemed like Hossain had died. It was shocking to see him being included in this movie! I heard that they really rushed to include that part.
I really loved all the songs and I appreciated the the original work and the parody. I was also a fan of figure skating, so the non sequitur of Brian Boitano being mentioned out of the blue hit me as extra funny. Also, I had camped out for Star Wars, The Phantom Menace tickets earlier that year and I worked in tech, so there was so much about this movie that hit on the nose for me!
I think it's great that here I was, old enough to be your mom, yet I was also laughing my ass off at the same time!
A truly anti censorship movie. Yes the movie focuses on the censorship of swearing and crass vulgarness at the time that they were facing, the overall message still stands and I think is more relevant nowadays
Exactly. On one hand kids shouldn't be exposed to certain things on the other hand it's your job as a parent to give them proper context and teach them not to end up like Cartmen.
Tell that to youtube
@@jmyers52995 lol not letting people profit off of the soundtrack isn't censorship. It's copyright. Learn the difference
@@CharlieBrown20XD6 im not talking about the copyright
@@jmyers52995 Yeah. What A Bunch Of Pussies.
Simone saying, “What’s that?” when The Clitoris appeared was priceless.
I'll never forget that I went to see this when I was 17 in the theater and they turned me down for not having ID. When I finally saw this I laughed so hard at the opening.
Are you from the U.S? Because you would've been able to see it at 17 since the R-rating says that.
@@Aethon_is_here it wouldn't matter if he didn't have his ID and they thought he didn't look old enough.
George: How nightmare-inducing do you want the thumbnail to be.
Simone: Yes.
Black eyes would have been more accurate than white eyes, and very slightly less scary
They already have the trademark beady eyes down pat.
There really was no other choice for the thumbnail. Loved it!
"I like this guy!"
The Mole is my favorite one-off characters in South Park. I will always remember the sound of a dying giraffe, and his thoughts on guard dogs 😅
Also starts off the best song in this whole thing
Can we take a moment to appreciate that they gave the Disney Princess "I want" song to SATAN?
brilliant satirical subversion from Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Top marks!
I’ve been waiting for these flapping-headed, beady-eyed Canadians to react to this movie for so long, and pretty much my biggest laugh came from a patron name at the end! Well played, whomever that was 😅
I remember that when the film was announced, it was pretty much assumed that it would just be a cynical cashgrab to capitalise on a show that was hot right then, and critics were rather shocked when they actually saw the film and found that all their criticisms had already been addressed and countered! From then on, they grudgingly respected Parker & Stone’s authoritah.
Also it is worth noting that it is also the greatest musical ever made. Fact.
in 1999 i took my dad to see this in cinema. i was 10, he did not know what south park was. we were laughing so hard, he leaned in and said "what the fuck is this movie", he thought it was a Disney movie like aladdin.
Winona was known as a manic pixie type: innocent but slightly insane, so they took that to its logical extreme.
It’s hard to say they hate her, unlike a lot of celebrities she doesn’t get killed off or portrayed as a bad person, she’s just oblivious.
I'm pretty sure at this point she had just done the shoplifting too so that may have been why they put her in
@@bethcushway458 Nah that was two years later, it just confirmed her oddball image to a lot of people.
The Blame Canada song was Oscar nominated and performed live on stage at the ceremony by Robin Williams.
George Clooney played Stan’s gay dog during the first season and he did voice the doctor which is sort of a reference to his time in the show ER. Conan O’Brien was voiced by Star Trek’s Brent Spiner and the scientist who’s introducing the V-Chip is Eric Idle.
It’s surprising how many of Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s films are musicals with some excellent songs.
Never would have guessed him. Sounded like James Woods, doing a voice.
After the movie was released, Conan O'Brien said that he would totally have voiced himself it they had asked him. Michael Dorn (Worf from TNG) said the same thing after an episode of South Park which had Michael Dorn in it.
Clooney was an early fan who helped them get on the air to begin with.
It's good to see you managed to not flap your heads for long enough for your beady eyes to actually see the movie!
Hope you enjoyed! I know I did when it came out in theatres, so much in fact that I immediately bought the VHS (LOL) and proceeded to binge-rewatch it until the tape broke. I can still mouth along the entire movie more than 20y later!
Same here i was 15 at the time and smoked a lot of weed nuf said 😂😂 i cried my eyes out with laughter.
SAME🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah I'm back. Simone's laughter is just too good not to.
Speaking of Simone... Young lady, you should definitely watch the South Park series or at least some select episodes (I'm sure George can point out the best ones to start with). I'm not even suggesting to watch them on camera, though I'd watch it if you did! With your sense of humor, you're definitely missing out, not having seen any South Park prior to this movie. I have to say, this movie was imho a turning point, after which the series became much more of a brutally honest mirror to society...
Just a fun fact, Robin Williams actually sang the song blame canada at the oscars, you can find it on youtube. I think this movie was actually nominated for best original song at the oscars
The creators of South Park have never said why Canadians are drawn that way. The most common fan theory is that since Terrance & Phillip are a representation of the South Park show within the South Park universe, they wanted to draw them with "even crappier" animation to mock themselves. Then since Terrance & Phillip are Canadian, they just decided to draw all Canadians that way.
I remember watching this with friends as kids. We memorized the Kyle's mom song. We tried to perform it in class for show and tell. First detention I ever got 😂
I'm sure it was worth. It was
@CarlosDesmithy
Ahahaha! I'm dead! You must've been heroes to the rest of the students. I salute you!
I was working as a bouncer when the movie came out, and one night our DJ played this song during a break. So I went out on the floor and started doing the dance, the DJ joined me, and we had most of the stuff up there with us, by the end. The audience just exploded.
Terrance and Philip were a response to one of the show's early critics who said South Park was nothing but bad animation and fart jokes.
Apparently Saddam was shown the movie before his execution.
Those critics don’t know what they’re talking about. I mean, not _all_ the jokes are about farts.
Brian was a very known figure skater from the 80's to 90's. He won Olympic gold in 88. Also he's a fan of this song simply because kids when this movie came out, which was after his main popularity. Found that he was cool cause of it.
Eric Idle did the voice of the scientist. This would have been a big deal to Matt and Trey who were massive Monty Python fans growing up. In fact, they site Python as one of their biggest influences.
This is the only film I've seen where everyone was all rolling around in the Isles at the cinema. I don't think it will ever be replicated in my lifetime
I absolutely love some of these super weird starting lines from Simone and watching George either break from laughing or get highly confused.
FUN FACT: Trey Parker and Matt Stone initially made a short "Christmas Card" video featuring the South Park characters. One of its earliest fans was George Clooney, who helped spread it around, which eventually aided in South Park becoming a TV series on Comedy Central. This is why Clooney cameos in this movie. :)
This movie is some of the best satire ever on the big screen. It is almost a quarter of a century old now. And it has lost nothing.
I've been watching you two for months, you're my favorite reaction channel. I finally said today, "What am I doing? I love these guys, I should become one of their Patreon-izers!" So I signed up, went to your Patreon feed...and THIS is the first advance reaction I came across. GLORIOUS!!!
Simone has the most expressive face on UA-cam. Most of the time it's hilarious too
Yes, just like some others here, when I first saw this movie on the day it came out in Brisbane Australia, I saw a lady come in with 2 little kids. As soon as Uncle Fucka began she screamed and quickly got up and walked out...Meanwhile I was LITERALLY rolling on the floor in the aisle, clutching my sides crying with laughter. Such a wonderful moment.
Yes btw we all did leave the theater singing it. There was definitely mad moms after this movie too. Also when they went to hell the song that was playing was a song Metallica made SPECIFICALLY for that scene. Most of the celebrities in the movie were the actual celebs. A LOT of celebrities love South Park and their creators. They know they get away with anything because they don’t care.
Well, of course, the oh so outraged moms went after the movie. They were already mad at the show, so it naturally follows. 😄
The scene in Shut Your F'ing Face... actually happened for me! I went to opening day and they were about 50 people in the theatre at the start. By the end of that song, I was the only person left. I was dying throughout the movie!
What the actual...?! That’s freaking insane. In the US I'm assuming?
When they sent this movie to be rates it was given an X rating and they were told to cut content to get an R. They refused and added more, worse content and sent it back to the rating board . This back and forth happened 3 times before the ratings board caved and gave it an R rating as long as they didn't add anything else to it.
Funny thing about the title is it was gonna be “All Hell Breaks Loose” but the MPAA didn’t allow movies to have hell in the title. So they came up with that and the MPAA didn’t realize the meaning until too late
The Canadians knew to hit us where it would hurt most, our precious celebrities! 🤣
23:01 You guys made this moment even better and I didn't think that was possible
I saw this in a matinee, not a lot of people there. But, 4 parents dragged their crying kids out during the uncle F'r song. It was hilarious.
The Canadian Economy Pie Chart is hilarious! 🤣
Best parts when Simone is stunned to silence and George laughing so much he cant breathe.
I'm glad that you Canadians were good sports while watching this animated film. As wild as this animated comedy is, the message about censorship is timeless. Great reaction! 👍🏿
Well yeah the movie was mostly a dog on Americans
My aunt and I were huge movie buffs so she took me to see this in the theaters when it came out. She had seen south park before and knew it was "different" but had no idea the movie was going to crank it up this much. 5 min into the movie, she was regretting to bring my 12 year old self to it but we stayed and had a good time. We walked out of that theater just exhausted from laughing so hard for that long.
I’m glad y’all laughed as much as I did. Rewatching it with y’all, I’m in tears 😂😂😂😂
Simone is absolutely right about the uncle song being the most catchy. Remembered it for years.
Trey and Matt are genius song writers. They could make another South Park movie and a Broadway musical in like a week.
@@Matt_Mosley1983 I should've said they could produce another of each in a week. My bad.
But No More Puppet Movies!
@@Matt_Mosley1983 No I Loved It! It's just that said they wouldn't make another one! Makes me Sad!
Probably not lol I mean... If they had a deadline, they probably can make ir in a week. But without the deadline, they are famous for dragging the projects for years and years. That's why they make each episode in a week, because they know they can't make the episodes before with more time. And they have tried. But they just can't do it. It's always delayed to the last week, and then they have to rush it to finish on time.
And they only miss one deadline, and it's not by their fault.
@@Matt_Mosley1983 Book of Mórmon. They take 7 or 8 years to make it. Team América, it was so hard to shoot it, they take so much time that they never wanted to make another movie like that. I'm not making nothing up. They always said they had a hard time making stuff up. That's why they make the show in a week, that way they don't have time to think things up. Because of they think to much they can't do anything
When Simone said “what is that?” To the clitoris, I exclaimed “I knew it!” It was really funny to everyone around, though none of us have a clitoris.😂
How could she know something that she probably hasnt seen? Obviously we know because...
“The C.L.I.T. is real. It’s the female orgasm, that’s the myth.”
Saw it in a fully packed theatre back in 2000. Went with my classmate, the only available seats were in the front row - and I remember we kept falling out of them, hysterical with laughter. The one time I was literally rolling on the floor laughing.
I'll never forget my experience with this movie. My friend had the soundtrack and gave it to me and i fell in with just the songs. I grew up on Broadway musicals and could immediately see the influence. THEN i saw the movie and loved the whole thing even more.
Amazing! You're one of a scant few on UA-cam who have been courageous enough to do a reaction to this movie. You guys were hilarious. ❤❤❤❤
Jen Murray also has a great reaction to SP:BL&U. 😉
The style of South Park was inspired by Terry Gilliam's animations in Monty Python since Parker and Stone have always been HUGE Monty Python fans. It's just weird to think that without Monty Python, we wouldn't have South Park as we know it today.
And to link that up with another fact - Eric Idle was the voice of Dr. Vossnocker (the V-Chip doctor)
@@guyr.6053 Must have been geeking out when they brought him in. XD
When this movie came out, my best friend had the soundtrack. We listened to it all the time... these songs are core memories, lol.
I saw this movie in theaters and it was a blast. The audience was singing along with the film and being interactive in a positive and fun way - one of the best movie experiences I've ever had.
YES I've been waiting for this reaction ever since I found your channel. And you did the title card just like I imagined.
A brilliant musical. Still hilarious and poignant almost 25 years later.
I've seen this movie so many times. Dozens, literal dozens of times. I love it. Also, that was a poster of Skeet Ulrich above Satan's bed. I mostly just know him from Scream.
Saw this in the theater. Never heard a full theater laugh so loud.
They did pick a random name, but they picked it in 1992 for the short film Spirit of X-mas (I think the name was actually Spirit of Christmas, but it was always listed as X-mas when it spread online.) Using the same person in this movie was a call back.
Also related is the George Clooney cameo, as he sent out copies of the short as a video Christmas card, which helped popularize it early on.
I get "I'm Super" stuck in my head a few times a month, like while working around the house or whatever. Everything is super when you-don't you think I look cute in this hat? 😘
Canada welcoming their new American overlords is funny as hex George.
I recently subscribed after spending the weekend going through your videos. This is my first new video as a subscriber and wow was this fun! George does a great job with the editing and Simone has the best laugh. Keep up the good work you two!
As far as the "aboot" thing...."aboot" is like the exaggerated, satirical version of how Canadians pronounce about and similar words. But I live in the US and have followed multiple Canadian content creators who generally have an unnoticeable accent, yet they pronounce about like "aboat" rather than "abowt" which is how most Americans would say it - so it's more subtle than "aboot" but definitely a thing, though not really all that different from how midwesterners pronounce their A's compared to people in other parts of the country.
"House" is another word, that I've heard pronounced like "hose" but with like a hard "S", so I guess like "hoase", rather than "howse". So it seems some Canadians just have a way of pronouncing the "ou" sound that sounds more like "oa" rather than "ow", but admittedly not "oo". "Aboot" is just what you get when you go to make fun of the "aboat" pronunciation and exaggerate the accent several times over.
You gotta think of the Canadian accent as not one thing. Just like I don't expect a Texan to say Kawfee like a New yorker. The accent changes throughout the country. The aboot thing is more eastern Canadian, western provinces have their subtle tweaks, French Canadians have their way of talking and the maritimes sound drunk to everyone. 😉
Tommy Chong pronounces 'house' like that.
Uncle fucker is a great song😆
Lol, I was 13 and lucky enough to have an uncle who worked in the theater when this came out....and YES, some people really were walking out until it was just teens and college kids in there. Super fun memories.
I saw this in the theater a few weeks after it came out, and it had already become an audience sing along by then. One of my favorite movie going experiences of all time!
Dare I say Simone's facial expressions is funnier than the movie. 😂
I've always enjoyed the nod to "A Clockwork Orange". The kicker being the doctor is voiced by Malcolm McDowell, who was Alex in that film.
I thought he was voiced by Eric Idle.
@@Umptyscopemy bad, you are right, Could have sworn it was Mcdowell.
I went to see it to the movie theatre, it was to the point that they asked ID and before starting a member of the staff explain how bad the language. 😂 I laughed so much!!! 😂😂😂
I presume they choose Canada as a villain because what country is less of a threat to America? And I’m meaning that in the best possible way.
If you want a comedy about war between the US and Canada, you should watch "Canadian Bacon." Not only is it HILARIOUS, it also has an amazing cast, including Alan Alda, John Candy, and Rhea Perlman. There's even a cameo by Dan Aykroyd as an Ontario Provincial Police Officer.
Isn't there a joke in that movie about the Americans' "undercover invasion van" being in violation of Canadian law by not including French translations on its fake-business side panels?
@@secularmonk5176 YUP!
It was a stolen Ontario road maintenance truck.
Simone if I'm not mistaken the original season(s) were made from Cardboard haha
About 60% of the first episode was made from paper cut-outs, but they finished it with computer animation (using Alias Poweranimator, I think) and that is how it’s been done since. They scanned in various kinds of construction paper to get the textures so it would still look like paper and card.
I've been looking forward to seeing your reaction to this one, and you didn't disappoint. I was laughing so much on the train this morning.
Since you ask, the poster above Satan's bed is actor Bryan Trout. Or as he insists on being called because he thinks it's cool, "Skeet Ulrich". Just a random actor with a reputation for being a douche. Satan says he likes a movie he's in
I think Satan likes the movie Scream if I remember the scene right.
Wow I learned something new - I had no idea that he had a different name. In hindsight, it makes sense bc who the fuck would name their kid Skeet?!
Many actors use assumed names. And I mean a LOT of them.

I would like to note that the clitoris in this movie looks like it does because the entire structure of the clitoris was not discovered until 1998, and then only released to the public in 2005 when the structure was revisited in a later study. All well after I had my first child, when I was 25. Which makes that particular joke in this movie funnier to me- because they still hadn't found (all of) it, either.
You only see the entire clitoris when you achieve full enlightenment
This is the goal. More Canadians reacting to this movie. Its what I live for.
My friend and I went to see the movie at a theater. And yes, people were actually leaving during that song! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hello Childrens!🙂Yes, Brian Boitano was pretty relative in the figure skating world when this came out. I believe Winona Ryder was caught shoplifting around this time, too. Cartman's chip and programming is based on the film "A Clockwork Orange" (1971). Great reactions to your first South Park film, Simone & George!!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Fun fact when Saddam Hussein was captured the Marines guarding him forced him to watch this movie on repeat.
Saw this in theaters with my late mother (I was 26 at the time). She was a preschool teacher and she howled with laughter the whole time. Especially at the start, because the "Uncle F*cker" song DID make a family, who brought their young daughter to the movie, get up and leave *immediately.*
I went to see this with my squadmates when I was in the army, suffice to say you had a very loud, very drunk, 20 man chorus of uncle f*cker being sung on the way out!
To be fair, they made the Canadian military more formidable than it actually is.
🙂
