Scope and Content: This U.S. Army Corps of Engineers film focuses on an international effort to study the engineering and economic feasibility of building a system of dams in Canadian and American waters for the purpose of tidal power generation. The area studied by the International Passamaquoddy Engineering Board included Passamaquoddy and Cobscook Bays between the Province of New Brunswick and the State of Maine. The proposed project would incorporate existing tidal dams built in 1935 at Moose Island and the hydroelectric power house would be located near Eastport, Maine. The Engineering Board released its report on the study in October 1959.
