Scope & Content: Documentary: On the origins and construction of the Tennessee Valley Authority and its effect on the people of the valley. R.1. Droughts and water erosion destroy the land and economy of the Tennessee Valley. Discusses the contributions of Sen. James P. Polk; Harcourt Morgan, President of the University of Tennessee; David Lillienthal, Director of the TVA and Sen. George Norris for the organization of the TVA. Pres. Franklin Roosevelt speaks on the importance of the TVA for water control and hydroelectric power. R.2. Scenes of the various dams' construction. TVA specialists teach local farmers new techniques. R.3. The new program produces record harvests. Scenes of the Norris Dam.
