Ive just invested in a few sets of these stems and ive got to say they are good! I fitted them with my red dragon flight master 28g darts and iceman flights and the difference in performance is stunning
I’m glad the Frankenstein darts got a tryout with the stems, they look absolutely crazy with that setup. I wonder if he has explained why (if there even is a why) he likes them. Anyway, thanks for the review!
Nice video here! I would have liked to see you use these stems on that set of Super Frankenstein's with the Voks points just to see if you could get them to fly right. Maybe consider making a short video with that combination. Then I was also thinking about how it would work if you used Micro shafts on your regular Frankenstein's. Personally I also don't think I would ever use something this long but I would definitely try them out just for fun as you said. Actually if you still have your 48g Bunker Busters they might also be interesting to throw with these XL shafts. It's about crazy anymore all of the different combinations of things you can do with darts these days. Keep up the great reviews!
Most unusual set up I previously threw with was a t-shirt shaped flight and the old unicorn dumdum darts and extra short stem will add a pic if I can find one later but something different can sometimes make for a better feeling dart 🎯🎯
I recently brought the tx1 humphries darts as I wanted to try a shorter barrel and I can honestly say they are the best darts I have thrown, I normally use medium prism stems but wanted to try the joust stems so I brought some, I didn't like them to start with but as I got used to the darts the longer stems work fantastic for my style of throw, going to stick with them, and I do reckon the black stems have carbon fibre blended into them, there surprisingly strong too... 😊
Great video. I wonder if you could tell us who uses the shortest stems & shortest barrels in the PDC? I think barrels probably used to be John Lowe, whose 21g darts had 36mm barrels. Fun factoid: slikstik stems are "technically" longer than the Joust stems. They're 72mm long. (But constructed differently)
I have the XL joust on my TX1, personally i find they fly perfect stable but slower than medium stems. I have seen that bulls nl also added long stems, those are 66mm
I used to use something similarly as long, back years ago. Then, they completely disappeared until these. I have 3 sets of blk and just 1 wht stem - once you get used to them they are fun - Midwest shooters used these early 2000’s
I forget where they came from but Luke used long stems from some company in the UK for years. I think they were 66mm or something like that. Then they stopped selling them a couple years ago. Nice to see RD offer something like this to their customers.
Yeah those flights should grip the air and drag in flight. Now your job is to think of why you need stabilisers that drag. Extreme stabilising in flight. I had a smooth surface flights dart self correct twice in flight before it hit the dartboard. The dart corrected the flight in 2 different ways. A rapid, aggressive early flight correction to fix a faulty launch and a mid flight trajectory correction that was slow in nature.
Would you say that heavier darts give a better result than that lighter set?? I’ve always thrown with 22g darts, but after a 15 year break caused by two back surgeries, I am irked by the fact that I now spray my darts from the 20 bed to as far left as the Tr12… I throw left-handed by the way… I’m uncertain whether I should try out 24g or perhaps even heavier (I only own one set of darts, so I’d have to but those heavier sets to experiment with them… I’ve also considered buying ‘add-a-gram’ weights to throw on to my current barrels… any constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated… 👋🏼👍🏼🎯
I suppose it all depends on what you're playing. Here in the USA where we play MUCH shorter formats I notice a lot of players using heavier darts. Like REALLY heavy. 26 grams and up. But overseas where they play long format 501 they tend to use lighter darts. The top 32 players in the PDC use a barrel that weighs 22.5g on average. At the end of the day it's all personal preference when it comes to weight. What I would do if I were you is try some of the new molded flights like a Target K-Flex and that should speed your dart up through the air. Hopefully making the dart a bit more forgiving.
I have a set. My favourite darts at the moment. I could do that for you cos I want the shafts. Edit: Actually not the points they already have 31mm nano snipers.
It used to be Connor Scutt. At the moment I'm not sure who has the shortest barrels but I would think the 12g Buntings at 38mm has to be right up there

Put them on the de decker barrels, then put your longest points on them lol
Ive just invested in a few sets of these stems and ive got to say they are good! I fitted them with my red dragon flight master 28g darts and iceman flights and the difference in performance is stunning
Perfect. Thanks. Find myself going longer on the stems. Have to give them a try.

I'm buying some Joust Stems right now...
Wish me luck 😂

Nice video (as always) the long stems look interesting to throw with and for the price why not?
I use Simon whitlock gen 1 darts with mine 😅

Nice review! 👍 Which camera do you use to film the board?
Samsung Flip 4
The longest stems used by a soft tip darts player is Haruki Muramatsu, he uses his custom 44mm slim stems from 8 flight
Yeah those flights should grip the air and drag in flight.

Glad rd finally released these
My father would absolutely love these. Not so much here though, they seem nuts. 😂
that being said, I'll probably have to try them at some point. lol
I was going to try these on my g8s

I've wanted some of them even if only for the lolz. Though I throw better when I us a short throw so maybe they could force me to do that???
Are they worth trying? Im thinking about these my darts are front weighted as i grip the dart at the very front end
Please, Please, Please put these stems with the longest point darts
Ignore the above! Commented before I watched fully.
you need to put these on your frankenstein darts trust me . i use the 60mm on the frankenstein darts
9:56 😬
Now you gotta put together the longest darts, these stems, mike de decker barrels and the longest points
I have a set. My favourite darts at the moment. I could do that for you cos I want the shafts. Edit: Actually not the points they already have 31mm nano snipers.
I use those stems and points on 180 dragon darts
They look very stable in the air so could be interesting to try but then you seem to be able to throw just about anything
👍🎯
12g and 34g lol. Like throwing a 12g and a 22g at the same time 😅
You switched to a 24g dart so you could conceivably switch to a 65mm stem.
Just small correction - George Killington uses 34g darts, even before Ryan started using same weight
Which player uses the shortest darts?
It used to be Connor Scutt. At the moment I'm not sure who has the shortest barrels but I would think the 12g Buntings at 38mm has to be right up there
I think Keith dellers are the shortest
