I am in awe of this man!
lm 74 now grew up watching Bob Gibson pitch and there was nomore intimidating pitcher than Bob Gibson he would and could peel the letters right off your jersey with his fast ball.
I think his best stat was 251 wins and 255 complete games
One of the grittiest and best pitchers of all time. A true legend.
I love his books and i could hear Bob Gibson talk all day about pitching or his experiences in baseball. Some called him arrogant. I call him frank and honest.
if Gibson hadn't been black he wouldn't have been considered arrogant...
birds of a feather flock together...
He was good enough to be arrogant.. Interesting that he was a better basketball player... He has stated that his older brother and mentor Josh was also "arrogant"
@Leonardo's Truth he didn’t like small talk.
@@user-vk8dp6gm7r That’s not true. He wasn’t even arrogant, just confident.
It's just such a pleasure listening to this man.
LEGEND!!!!!!!!
october 29 2020 ..........i am teary eyed .............so lucky to have a chance to watch him ............on tv in 67 and 68 ..........and now on u tube forever ...........still teary .......
❤❤
Bob Gibson excelled at the game he loved. An amazing competitor and super talented athlete.
His 1968 season is ridiculous
I could talk with him all day. Down to earth . Old school.. Would love to have met him
The Pitching Master!
RIP Bob Gibson! Quite a competitor and pitcher!
Gibson and Koufax the two best pitchers ever.
My dad is 100. He saw Ruth play. He echoes your sentiment regarding Gibson and Koufax. He probably add Bob Feller.
about this for a starting rotation Gibson,Kofax,Bob Feller, and my favorite Nolen Ryan
Fantastic old school guy. I remember when Roberto Clemente hit a hard liner back at him and broke his leg.
Best pitcher I ever saw .
Awesome interview!
Bob is still intimidating !!!
Inner circle
I agree, the first time I put on the uniform and stepped on a major league field it was amazing. It cost me and my scrub amateur buddies $300 a head but it was amazing.
GIBSON, MARICHAL, RYAN, SEAVER JENKINS, KOUFAX,THOSE WERE THE TRUE $40 TO $50 MILLION DOLLAR PITCHERS.
In today's game they would only let them pitch 5-6 innings per outing, regardless of score.
11:05 "Juan Marichal was the most complete pitcher of my time"...wow, coming from Bob Gibson!
I agree with him 100%. The team with the best record goes to the series. Unfortunately money again....dictates.
162 is plenty of time to figure out who should be in the Series
DannyH You are absolutely correct. The current playoff format is all about generating revenue. MLB couldn’t care less about having a true World Champion, they want the TV revenue that comes from the expanded playoffs. Like everything else, when something changes, it is all about the money.

Thank you
Ive never run into a hall of famer at the airport.
Pray for Bob, Gibson going through pancreatic cancer. Hoot, we love you and keep fighting as you did on that mound in 68. I have the autograph photo that I cherish as he is my favorite baseball player. If you want the best please go to @steinersports as they sell authentic items. He is the only ahelete that I have his autograph.
Gibson was very fortunate not to have serious arm or elbow problems during his career.
I guess he was just one of the lucky ones.
And I’m constantly disappointed when interviewers fail to ask good follow up questions.
Gibson said Joe Torre was one of his best friends and that he asked him to take a trip to Italy.
But Gibson says he decided against it because he couldn’t afford it.
Now there’s an opening for a good question.
Why not ask one of the top pitchers of all time to elaborate on that point?
One other thing.
A lot of people have said that Gibson and Koufax were the best pitchers of the mid and late sixties, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard Gibson mention Koufax in an interview.
I have heard Bob mention Koufax. Nothing but praise
Koufax's numbers speak for themselves.
Probing Gibson about his personal finances? You kidding? Psssh.
Marichal and Drysdale was right up there with them. Dave McNally not far behind.
Bob lived in Omaha until the day he died he and his wife Virginia would eat at the old steak house the Venice inn sometime Mr and Mrs Bob Costa would join also Willie Mays and his wife would be in Omaha to eat steak
GIBSON,SEAVER, RYAN, CARLTON, MARICHAL, BY TODAY'S STANDARDS $50 MILLION PER YEAR PITCHERS WHO DIDN'T GET PAID HALF OF THAT. TODAY'S BASEBALL HAS FIVE AND SIX INNING STARTING PITCHERS WHO ARE WAY OVERPAID.
Quit SHOUTING!
I don’t buy that either!!
