      U do know it went bankrupt 4 yrs later, ? Mls isn't a top 10 league, but it's attendance is top7 in the world , and the nasl never averaged over 14k a game, mls avg is 22k a game, and rising, it helps having your own stadiums, and a salary cap,

    Remember that the NASL folded when there was a bad down turn in the economy. Businessmen make cutbacks to downsize, otherwise I believe that the league would have survived.

    • @mrseaturtle8915
      @mrseaturtle8915 6 років тому +2

      Had nothing to do with economy - many sports flourished in 1982. Putting the NASL on TV 'in the ABC did' killed it; without that contract, the league began to fall apart quickly.

    • @johnreece5540
      @johnreece5540 5 років тому +2

      Over expansion destroyed the league. Especially, placing teams in markets where Professional Soccer weren't dinner table topics. Interest in The New York Cosmos was greatly undermined when The National Football league New York Giants started winning.

      Another issue was parents weren't going to continue pay their hard earned money where the majority of American and Canadian players had very little hope of making the starting lineup.

      The biggest complaint I've heard about soccer is that it is boring because there is not enough scoring. But it always seems to be some Moron that says that..😂 So it's more of a compliment to soccer than anything else.
